An alpha claim. A possible heir. A Selkie prince whose mistake might just be what the fates intended.
Zale, the third alpha-born son of King Solomon, is concerned. His youngest brother, Caol, has been spending time with an unbonded omega. Being a responsible alpha, Zale feels it’s his duty to warn the omega Finn before he and Caol get into trouble. Especially since Finn had only been brought to the colony by their father in case his oldest brother’s fated mate couldn’t conceive. However, when Zale goes to Finn’s quarters to have a word with him, he isn’t expecting to discover what he does: the omega in the throes of oestrus and begging for an alpha’s assistance.
Finn has nowhere else to go. Not only unwanted by his own family, his previous alpha perished in a tragic accident. So for the past two years, the omega has relied on the King of the North’s generosity, even if it means he may end up as a surrogate for one of the alpha-born princes. Or even worse, the king’s sixth mate. But when the Prince Zale comes upon him during his heat, Finn demands relief from the alpha. Although afterward, has to live with the guilt. Now, he might not only be carrying the prince’s son, he may have very well ruined Zale’s chance to find his true fated mate...
Note: A 58k-plus word m/m shifter mpreg story, this is the third book in the Royal Alpha series. Due to the “knotty” times in this book, it is recommended for mature readers only. While it can be read as a standalone, it’s recommended to read the series in order. And, like all of my books, it has an HEA.
Wow... this third book in the series was such a rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue and yeah there was a love story in there as well. I have to say that while this is the best of the series thus far that doesn't mean I enjoyed all of it. Love Zale and Fenn so much and their fated love story, not too mention getting to learn more about all the other brothers. The part that was good but not so enjoyable was any time that some of my favorite people were in danger. The author's twists and turns had my stomach tied in knots more than once and it was no fun. Now just cuz it wasn't fun does not mean it wasn't good, cuz it was sooooo good. With each book in this series the author has added to her wonderful world-building, while continuing to slowly reveal bits of secrets about just what is rotten in the Selkie colony and wider world. Her fascinating take on this world still has more to be revealed and I can't wait to read the final two books. Here's hoping that the King might not be around much longer so that Kai can start reforming some of the cruel practices that the current one claims as "tradition". Best Book of the Series thus far!
Not as good as the previous books. I would give this 2.5 stars. I am staring to like the background story more than what’s happening between the two MCs. With this one I skimmed a lot through the heated scenes since they are feeling pretty redundant to me.
I’ve read all the Selkie Prince books and each one held my interest so much that I want to keep reading. This one was good but seemed to bounce in time w/out filling in the missing parts of the story. I’d recommend this read because it’s a part of the series and connects with the past books. Looking forward for the next book though.

Fearing that his youngest and the most sexually active brother could get into some serious trouble sleeping with an unbonded omega who lives in their castle, Prince Zale decides to take matters into his own hands. It is for this reason that he goes to the private quarters belonging to Finn, an omega taken under the royal roof two years earlier, who lost his former partner in tragic circumstances. Zale wants to help, but because of his concern for his brother, he himself gets into trouble. It turns out that Finn is in oestrus, and the appearance of the alpha in his room carries with it the sinful solace and satisfaction of the primary needs for both of them. The problem is that giving vent to lust breaks the royal laws, and it could also stand in the way of finding their fated mates. But what is reason in the face of uncontrollable desire and a clear mutual attraction?
Okay, let's start with what I really liked about "The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega", that is, with the themes touched in the novel. The first of them is discrimination based on gender. While it was already quite clearly marked in the previous volumes, in this part it reaches its apogee, as J.J. Masters builds the story around this topic. What's more, in a way that really captures our hearts, the author shows the scale of the problem, referring to the social situation in the Selkie colonies, as well as to individuals. By this means, while reading the novel, the reader simply can't be indifferent to the problem of discrimination and treatment of omegas and betas in "The Royal Alphas" series universe, as it evokes many intense emotions, such as sadness, sorrow, compassion, anger. Thus, this story, although clearly close to the fantasy genre, really appeals to the readers, their feelings and sense of morality.
In my opinion, the concept of fated mates presented in this volume of the series is really interesting. Until now, the fates were "playing" mostly with social relations, but this time they take a step further and somehow mess with genetics. Therefore, before I even started reading the novel, I really wondered how the author intended to deal with Zale and Finn's story – whether she decided to reach for the drama, or she found some other way to do it. I admit, however, that in this respect I was hoping for much more explanations and details, which unfortunately I did not receive. All explanations are reduced to a minimum, by embedding them in Selkies' beliefs. Nevertheless, the way in which the problem of the fated mates in "The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega" is resolved, makes sense and stays true to the creation of the world, which might not be fully satisfying, but is definitely a plus of the novel.
In the context of bonding with the mate presented in this book, I would like to refer to one more thing, namely the theme of love. The author did something amazing, because in her story she clearly marked the fact that the status of fated mates doesn't go hand in hand with instant love, as it takes time for this feeling to appear and strengthen. I admit that this approach to the subject surprised me, because I didn't expect it at all. I was also delighted, as it showed how important a man – Selkie – is as an individual in this story. At the same time, the concept of love in this case is clearly linked to Zake's opinion of gender equality. For the love between the characters consists not of the fact that they belong to each other because of being an alpha and an omega, but of everything that makes them unique individuals, of what they experience together, of small gestures, time they spend with each other and everything they share. This is really a huge advantage of "The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega".
The manner in which Finn as an omega was created also speaks in favor of this volume of the series. At first, we see him as someone experienced by fate, to some extent tormented and weak, but sensitive and lovely. With time, however, he proves to us that despite appearances, he is an incredibly strong and determined person, that he can be stubborn, independent and courageous. In fact, it seems to me that he is the toughest omega presented in the series so far. What's more, I was enchanted by his secret desire to go beyond the limits imposed on him by his gender and his fantasies about things that are inaccessible to him because he's an omega. Finn really surprised me and I admit that in my personal ranking of favorite characters he was promoted and now he is on the top of the list.
To sum up, "The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega" is a valuable and interesting novel that in some ways really surprises the reader. The author presented a strong omega character, touched the problem of discrimination, pushed forward the plot that combines all the volumes into one and thus made this part of the series probably one of the most important. It is a really good and worth recommending installment of "The Royal Alphas".

To naprawdę ogromna zaleta „The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega”.
To naprawdę bardzo dobra i warta polecenia odsłona „The Royal Alphas”.
I really loved this series. It had everything I needed.
Shifters ✔️ Fated Mates ✔️ Mpreg ✔️ Amazing Characters ✔️ An Interesting Plot ✔️ A Whole Lot of Knotting ✔️ & Undeniable Chemistry ✔️
It was amazing. I just ate it all up one after the other. I literally just devoured the entire series and am now suffering from a pretty pathetic book... ehh series hangover. I really didn't want it to end and I really hope we get more in this series or atleast more from this author. I was so disappointed that there wasn't more by this author out there because I am pretty sure I would have read that too. I am actually taken aback by how much I loved this series and how much I will miss these characters. They were all pretty extraordinary.
The Selkie Prince's Fated Mate
The Selkie Prince & His Omega Guard
The Selkie Prince's Unexpected Omega This was the book I liked the least personally because I wanted Nic and Marlin's story because hello, I don't think anybody missed the chemistry between those two in the previous book. Also, Finn had been around for two books and the reasons he had been introduced for were less than good. But, surprisingly I actually enjoyed their relationship. I really liked how Finn escapes only to land up with Nic who nobody has had enough of him. I was really enjoying this book and personally, this book could have really ended at about 70% but it didn't.
I feel a big reason for that was that unlike the mates of his older brothers Finn was specifically chosen by the king and therefore was considered an acceptable mate by his father so there wasn't as much friction on that matter and thus things concluded nicely and easily. So to add a little bit of drama we had the last 30% of the book with Douglass' secret being revealed. The whole thing was distasteful but with Finn and Del lying it added superfluous drama and put a bit of a damper on things because I wanted justice and the fact that Finn was scared into submission albeit on valid grounds unnecessarily stretched out the story and kind of pushed Zale & Finn's story into new territory what with Zale wanting to be obeyed and Finn well, lying. Though I must mention I loved the fact that Del wanted to tell the truth because I have total respect for Del. All things considered it was still really good.
The Selkie Prince's Forbidden Mate
The Selkie Prince's Secret Baby
This series was extraordinary and I am really looking forward to more by J.J. Masters and maybe even more in this series (fingers crossed).
The books in this series keep getting better and better! I was really hoping for a story for Finn. His situation reminded me of Rapunzel, locked in a tower waiting for her prince charming. Except he was locked in a small room with the bare essentials and waiting for his Alpha to knot him lol. I'm also extremely happy that his Alpha didn't end up being King Solomon, I would have vomited in my mouth then skipped this book because eww. But that didn't end up being the case (YAY). The story line was really good as well it had suspense and twists. I did not expect Douglass to do what he did, but I had an out of body experience with anger, is he ever going to pay for his actions or do we get to keep enjoying this little weasels antics?!? I guess that's what a good book is about though, when it can really give you some strong emotions about certain characters. Overall, Finn & Zale were a great couple with a loving and supportive relationship. There was the same issues as the last books where it took time for them to realize the fated mates situation but Zale was a sweetheart and Finn ended up being a really strong character. I really enjoyed this adventure and can't wait for the next one.
How Could he Not Recognize his Fated Mate? It's been so hard for me to keep up with writing my Reviews at the conclusion of the three of five books I've read so far in the series. The author has had so many bombshell surprise revelations at the end of each book that I need to begin to read the next immediately. They're not exactly Cliffhangers just oh boy! What is going to happen with the next prince in line and who will his Omega turn out to be? What dastardly deeds could the King's Assistant possibly get up to in this book? What was the King going to raill about Prince Zale's Omega? King Solomon had managed to find fault in all of the others thus far.
Why would a King keep an unbonded Omega around his Castle after his failed attempt to get his first son to mate with him? When he couldn't show Prince Kai's mate was defective. Well two years later the Omega in Waiting is still waiting. Two Princes are happily mated with Alpha born pups.
When a gallant Prince Zale finds the Omega suffering in pain he had to help him! But with the time they spent together a bond begins to form. Unfortunately the terrible truthes about what happens when a Selkie's skin is lost or stolen are raised and experienced. Prince Kai's former human lover Nic makes another unexpected appearance.
My my my Zale and Finn take matters into the own hands. Zale is the next prince inline to get a mate but the fates have setup something totally interesting for him. Finn has been waiting for two years at the kings request but now he is ready for his own alpha but he his not sure who that will be. I felt so bad for Finn he was truly alone with nobody to love him but he found a way to make the best out of a bad hand he was given. What was just going to be a friendly check to make sure Finn was ok set off a whole new way to make the king mad. An speaking of the king we find out all of his dirty little secrets and I was jumping up down in the bed when the brothers put that little punk in his place and the king took the brothers side. The truth comes out and it's juicy I'm so ready for the next shoe to drop. I'm so ready for Marlins story because if his mate is who I think it is his story is going to be the best one because his mate has fooled everyone into thinking he is something he is not. This is a great series that keeps getting better with each book. I voluntarily read a arc copy
Wow, this was a great addition to The Royal Alphas series. Besides Finn and Zale finding out they were fated mates, there were so many others things going on in this story. Secrets were revealed, most of which threw the Royal Princes and their Omegas for a loop. The weasel, Douglass, was at it again. Did he finally get his due or was allowed to continue overstepping his bounds? I love how close the Royal Princes are to each other and how protective they are of the Omegas.
Now, back to our feature couple, Finn and Zale. They've known each other for two years but, at no time during those years, did they know they were fated mates. How could that be? What purpose did the fates have for keeping them apart? Boy, am I glad they found each other though. The two of them were so good together, and provided some pretty steamy scenes. The story does end in a cliffhanger. Although the cliffhanger isn't with Finn and Zale, but with what Caol found out about his family. What!?! I will be anxiously waiting for book four! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
An unprompted visit to an omega takes a dangerous turn for an alpha prince. What happens between Zale and Finn must be kept under wraps until everything can be sorted out. Can an unexpected heat and rutting turn into something special between these two or are they doomed to regret what they have done?
Prince Zale and Finn are a wonderful couple and go through so much to find their happy ever after. Through it all Zale shows what a good man that he is and how much he loves his mate. Finn has gone through so much in his life and finally gets the love that he deserves. As the two men try to figure out their own emotions they must also deal with enemies and problems close to home. Not only did I enjoy seeing Finn and Zale find their way, but I also enjoyed seeing the brothers work together as they try to find out the truth. I am enjoying seeing each of the men find their mates and what they do to keep them. The author has created a wonderful world and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
Though I did enjoy reading about Finn and Zale, I was more intrigued with Nic, Douglass, and the new family drama.
Poor Finn and Zale had a rough start as Finn was in heat when the two were officially alone together, but the fates had other plans for them. Together not only did they come to understand one another but also trust each other.
“How do you know we’re fated mates?” ~Finn “I recognize your scent, my omega. You belong to me.” ~Zale
I felt like the two had very similar personalities, but it did make for a sweet and kind pairing.
I still want to know what’s going to happen to Douglass and if he gets a proper punishment. I’m excited for Nic's story as I was not a fan of his at all in the beginning. I’m still a little hesitant but I have a feeling he will win me over next.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion.
3.9 stars, The series improves but still needs the first books!
m/m shifter mpreg story, this is the third book in the “Royal Alpha” series, and should be read in order. First off, I should start by saying that I read all 5 books in the series before writing my reviews because I needed more to the story before giving up.
Zale is the third Alpha Prince, while he is awaiting the horrendous Omega presentations to find his fated mate, he makes a mistake that will have long-lasting impact on him & Finn. Finn is an omega brought to the Kingdom to be a surrogate for the first Prince if his mate was unable to birth an Alpha pup & He has lived in Limbo for two years. This story was far and away better than the first two but there’s a few triggering acts of violence to watch for (not between the MC’s).
Just like the first two stories, and the ones that will follow, there are 5 Royal Alphas all Selkies. This particular book is about one omega, Finn, who had been brought in for Prince Kai and has lived at the castle for 2 years unbonded and the third in line for the throne, Prince Zale. Zale was simply in search of Finn when he stumbled into Finn in a heat. They spent 3 days together. There are so many storyline in this one that I hesitate to say more. Just there may be more than the 5 Alphas? If there is any book you should read more on it is this and the following ones since this is my 2nd time reading this. Do you like HEA, M/M, Mpreg? You will like this. 10/10
This is the third book in The Royal Alpha’s Series. A captivating book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters fantastic. The characters were developed and thought out. Finn is an Omega and Zale is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this book and mates. There was humor, secrets revealed, good intentions, friends and family, mates, enemies, royalty and so much more in this book. I can recommend this book as a good read. There is a cliffhanger of sorts at the end it is not about Finn and Zale however. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
The background story is definitely more interesting than the main couples story. I found myself flipping through their scenes to get back to the back story. I didn't really like Zale he felt one dimensional and boring. I couldn't tell you anything about his personality besides boring. He really wasn't much like Kia was the oldest and destined to be king and he was humble but brace. Then Adrian was the traditional brother, but Zale was nothing. Finn had his moments but I didn't love him like Luca or Del. I normally would drop books like this series, but now I feel like I've invested so much time in it I deserve to know what the truth is. Not expecting much, but here's hoping
Finn finally gets his story, he's been a background character until now but it's his turn to take center stage. Finn and Zale, so close and yet so far. Their story is a big part of this book but there is also a heap of secrets coming to light that just about blew my mind. Three books in and I'm still waiting for an orca or shark to eat the king, he is so arrogant and insensitive. I absolutely cannot wait for book 4 because the species wide royal intrigue is coming to a head.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book *
Finn and Zale have landed themselves in a heap of trouble and a lot of doubts. Will they ever find their true mates or will they be obligated to stay in this relationship? Enter the weasel, Douglas, with all his manipulations and underhanded treachery. When his secret is revealed it leaves so many unanswered question that could tear not only the North Colony Royal family apart but also all the Royals of the species! Again , J.J. leaves us hanging and drooling for the net chapter in the Royals' lives! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I read and voluntarily reviewed an arc of this story. If you haven’t read this series I gotta recommend you start with book 1 before reading this. While it is a full individual knotty tale, previous characters are forefront in this. Finn gets his story, yay!!! He’s been at the royal castle in limbo for two years since being brought in as a mate to the oldest sibling which never happened. The third brother walks into Finn’s heat and a relationship develops from there. Nothing about this series follows royal tradition set forth by their father and that won’t change in this one.
Oh my sweet Zale!! He is next in line to find his mate, and he does, just not through the "acceptable" path. He finds his mate right under his nose, which was quite shocking to say the least. One fated moment turns into so much love and passion. Needs that can't be denied, and clearly won't be. The family drama.continues and causes nothing but hurt and pain. Zale and Finn together are slow burn heat and fire that can't be denied.
The series is improving and in this book we learn a lot. First of all Zale finds his fated mate right under his nose and he and his omega are unsure at first because they didn’t scent each other instantly. It seems though, the fates had a reason for this as it leads to new information about King Solomon and whether the five alpha princes are actually all the children the king had or not. Loved this book, they all need to be read in order.
Whoa boy! As much as I adored reading Zane and Finn’s love story, it was the betrayals and deceit that has been growing steadily throughout each book in the series that’s truly held my attention. Honestly I wanted to see get killed. I know I’m bloodthirsty. But, seriously. The king needs to be deposed and soon because he’s just disgusting. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
A delightful surprise. Full of hot knotty sex, but with some plot and characterization. Still disappointing with Del from the previous book. WAyyyy impressed with Coal. And did I mention there was plot? I mean the previous books kind of teased that there potential plot points, but this book actually addressed and explored those points. Nice. I have great hopes for next book with Nic.
This is the third book in the Royal Alphas series. The romance between Zale and Finn is excellent, but there is a lot more to this book. May questions are answered and may be questions are asked! I'm excited for the next book, this series keeps getting better and better!
These books just keep getting better, I can't wait to find out everything, there was a whole lot of suspense in this one but we still haven't been told too much about there father's and missing brothers, can't wait for all the answers I highly recommend this series.
I am really enjoying this series! I think this one may be my favorite. Sale is the sweetest Alpha! I love how there is this continuing story throughout all the books. There is so much intrigue and it flows along so well. I can not wait to read book four!
Holy wow the crazy that has gone on. I’m so completely hooked and can’t wait for the next book. Finn and Zale are amazing and their story is nothing short of wow. I love this series it’s well written and hooks you fast.
Douglas finally gets his due (kind of) and the mystery is uncovered. This one was better than the first three in that regard. It was also nice to at least get a hint about the rest of the selkie world. Still not the most impressing read in the Omegaverse genre.
To the queen that is JJ. This omegaverse series is one of the best shifter series I've ever read. She tops the list of paranormal! And to think I only found her because she's top of the list at MC and law enforcement also (as Jeanne St James). This author can't be beat!
