Numbers. How could I have ever thought it dull? It is often book we look upon with great dislike. Yet it is full of hidden nuggets of truth and beauty, and so many good stories and lessons... God knew what He was about when He placed it in the Bible, and like all the other books, it is for our edification and aide. Read it. <3

“If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.”

Numbers, like Leviticus, is a book of details and certainly not as exciting as Genesis or Exodus. But all four of these books [along with the 62 others] are part of the inerrant, inspired, eternal Word of the living God. Remember the Bible is a book of the ages with Truth for all ages. Imagine the complexity of a mobile nation of former slaves maneuvering through lands of hostiles and yet here you see the details of their lives. The cohesiveness of their worship, their civil laws and their pattern of travel all documented in unbelievable detail. The Bible says God is NOT the author of confusion and that is abundantly clear in this book.
Of course, there are the two numberings [hence the title] and many other events in this book. Major deaths, battles, a talking ass and a rebellious prophet, and other historical incidents which helped shape a nation. There is more here than meets the eye. There are "pictures" of Christ at every turn. I have been reading the Bible through every year for over 50 years and have not scratched the surface. That's one advantage of a God-authored book and a human one.

“Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.” Numbers‬ ‭6:23-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers‬ ‭23:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬
