Globalization: A Critical Introduction

Rate this book

This is a systematically revised and updated new edition of a highly-acclaimed text which was an immediate bestseller on courses around the world. The second edition takes a broader perspective giving increased coverage of other dimensions of globalization alongside its core focus on the rise of supraterritoriality which the author argues is globalization's most distinctive feature.

This book enlightened me with the most logical definition of globalisation that I have yet come across, and followed it up with clear and concise analysis.

Dno zivota.
Bruka i sramota.
Stotine strana apsolutno nicega.
Zadnje vreme doslo.....Ajde vise taj nuklearni rat...

Claims to be a critical introduction but doesn't really get into critical theory beyond deterritoriality, which the author doesn't even fully stick to, arguing globalization is supraterritoriality in a way that both de and re territorializes. Mostly amounts to taking a middle road between theories of the development of globalization. It's clearly well researched and argued, but it isn't really critical as the title claims.

Although the author avoids the question of how globalization can be both a cause and effect at the same time, the idea of supra-territoriality seems to have merit.

An excellent introduction, written in a convincing manner. The font is the worst, though.
