There’s a new ghost in town – and it’s calling Emma away from Hillbilly Hollow.
A ghostly visit from her former landlady draws Emma away from sleepy little Hillbilly Hollow to investigate a murder in the big city. But what seems like a straightforward case soon becomes entangled with an event from Emma’s past and a personal quest for justice.
With the attractive but bungling Sheriff Tucker at her side, will Emma be tempted by the chance to avenge an old wrong? And will the glamour of city lights make her forget her friends and a certain handsome doctor back home?
Blythe Baker is a thirty-something bottle redhead from the South Central part of the country. When she’s not slinging words and creating new worlds and characters, she’s acting as chauffeur to her children and head groomer to her household of beloved pets.
Blythe enjoys long walks with her dog on sweaty days, grubbing in her flower garden, cooking, and ruthlessly de-cluttering her overcrowded home. She also likes binge-watching mystery shows on TV and burying herself in books about murder.
Emma was helping her Grandma pick squash when they noticed Snowflake was gone. Emma went to look for the goat and saw a spirit. A short time later her phone rang. It was her New York landlady's son. He called to tell her his mother passed away and he was now her landlord. He also said he thought his mother was murdered. She decided to go back to New York for a few days. While there she would try to find out more about her landlady's death. Will she be able to get info? Will she find the killer? She wants to find the taxi driver that hit her and left the scene. Will she find him? What happens if she does? She would also look for the Bridesmaid dress she needed. She ended up having Sheriff Tucker go with her. How did that happened? Why does he want to go along? This story is well thought out and well written. Get a copy and come along with Emma as she deals with her landlady's ghost and Sheriff Tucker. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
A good read but sadly not as good as the previous books. Maybe because it was like two plots rolled into one and it didn't contain the three musketeers. When she finds out that her landlord has been found dead, she's not really surprised as she has been seeing her ghost. But with German BFF'S sister's wedding coming up a perfect excuse to snoop has come her way. She needs a bridesmaid dress and where better to get one. What she doesn't expect is Tucker to go with her. But not having an excuse she has too agree. Then she spots the taxi driver that run her over and left. Can she find the driver? Will she find who the killer is? What will she do about Tucker? Will she find a dress?
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Supernatural ghostly cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining story line. A small town in Missouri called hillbilly holler. A young woman who grew up there raised by her grandparents went to college with New York City for a time and then got hit by a taxi. Her head injury causes her to see things. Her doctor sent her back home to recuperate and get well. She soon realizes the hallucinations are not hallucinations but actually ghosts. She can see and it times here goes. They tend to be murder victims. Back home living with her grandparents and enjoying spending time with her old friends. Her and her old friends solve mysteries with the help of the ghosts. It fun and entertaining read every time. Check it out
This book drove me crazy a bit. The main character Emma, is the worst with communicating with people and not putting herself in the worst situations ever. You'd think by book 4, she would have learned nothing. Yet, she continues to make the worst mistakes. In addition, she should have been up front with Tucker about how they were just friends and she wasn't interested in anything else with him. She continues to lead Billy on when clearly he wants more. Their friendship is already being ruined by that. I like the books but some of the aspects annoy me immensely. The rest aren't on audio, so I'm not sure if I'll continue.
When Emma's city landlord dies and her ghost shows up in Hillbilly Hollow, Emma returns to the city to see what she can do to help. This story is short with elements of sweetness as Emma gets to the bottom of the mystery quickly and makes a decision that will change her life. Sad to say, these books are beginning to feel like "same old, same old." A pleasant tale, but nothing to write home about.
Emma sees an apparition in her grandparents' farm field and thinks it looks like someone familiar. Then she learns of the death of her landlord in New York, (related?) and decides to go to NY to check on things. Deputy Tucker decides to accompany her, creating a situation. Can Emma find an outfit to wear in Suzy's sister's wedding? What happened to the landlady? What about the taxi driver? Quick, interesting read.
Baker Bread #4 Ozark Ghost Hunter #4 Book #4 of the series and this is my least favourite so far. Most of the action takes place in New York and we get more of Tucker who is a rather boring character to be honest. A decent mystery saved the tale, but it did nor feel like it was in New York, and it felt like Our hero was a fish out of water when she should have been far More comfortable. Anyway average and slightly disappointing.
I really do enjoy this series. Emma, Her goat Snowball and Emma’s friends make for an entertaining read. I love the world Emma lives in, it can get pretty humorous and there is always an enjoyable mystery. I do like at least a bit of romance and non so far but I’m holding out hope!
Follow the ongoing antics of Hillbilly Hollow And it’s characters. Very easy to relate to these people other than being able to see ghosts LOL. All in all it is very enjoyable
I love this series! It's a great way to tune out the political nonsense happening in our country! I love having an imaginary world to step into whenever I want! On to book 6 for me!
Im really enjoying Emma’s paranormal, mystery solving. In this edition she returns to NYC after the death of her landlord. Followed by a townie pining for her affections, Emma is off and running on a new adventure.
After she finds out that her former NYC landlady has died, Emma returns to her old apartment to look into the matter. Another fun mystery In a delightful series.
I feel like this book was well written as compared to previous books, but then ending fell short. This storyline also wasn’t as full as previous books.
