Small town. Dead bodies. Horny familiar. Hot high school crush. Just another day in Paradise Falls. When FBI agent and witch Hazel Kinsey and her familiar Tizzy the Squirrel left the paranormal town of Paradise Falls, she swore she’d never return. She didn’t want witch and Shifter politics to be a part of her adult life. Worse, she didn’t want to stick around and watch her high school crush, Bear Shifter Ford Baylor, carry out the white-picket-fence dream of marriage and family with somebody else.
Nope.
She was never, ever stepping foot in Paradise Falls again... Until her best friend from high school calls and begs for help in solving a murder case getting colder by the minute.
Hazel reluctantly returns to her own personal hell only to deal with more murders, rusty witch powers, a familiar hell-bent on hooking up, and uncooperative citizens. Throw in werebear Ford, who’s surprisingly single and hunkilicious, and Hazel has her hands full.
Yeah. All she has to do is conquer her lust, corral her squirrel, save her best friend, and find a killer.
Author Note: This is a second edition of this story. It was originally published in Robyn Peterman's Magic & Mayhem Kindleworld, but the world has been stripped from this book significant, additional content has been added.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

I loved this story! Renee George has created a story that will be sure to tickle your funny bone and keep you in suspense. The story quickly grabs your attention and will keep you turning the pages to see what will happen next. There is a little bit of everything in this story, suspense, romance and a mystery - something for everyone. I look forward to reading what happens next!
Hazel Kinsey is a non-practicing witch who left her magical home town nearly twenty years ago, just after high school, and never looked back. Now she’s a successful FBI agent, and the only magic she’s in contact with is her flying squirrel familiar, Tizzy. But when her childhood best friend Lily calls her begging her to return home to solve the murder of her younger brother, Hazel makes her way to Paradise Falls.
Witchin’ Impossible is the first story in George’s entertaining paranormal cozy/romance series. The book introduces Hazel as the intelligent yet magic-challenged witch who, once back home, quickly realizes the last twenty years of her life have been lacking. With her FBI training she jumps right into the case, which quickly evolves into a larger conspiracy. The story also presents several town denizens, including Ford, Hazel’s long-time crush who still turns her heart inside out.
Even though overall the book is a light read, George adds a couple layers of emotional complexity to Hazel. First, there is her broken relationship with Lily. When Hazel left, she cut ties with her best friend, who had to stay in town to raise her younger brother after the sudden death of their parents. I appreciate that Hazel realizes how selfish she’d been. We also see Hazel reconnect with her father who’s been in prison for killing Hazel’s mother just before she graduated.
WItchin’ Impossible is a fun, quick read. The mystery and characters are interesting and engaging. I liked Hazel and enjoyed her flaws. I love the twist that brings Ford and Hazel together, and while they are quick to reach “I love you,” it’s explained with shifter biology and two decades of being in love without knowing why. By the end of the story, George has created a wonderful rag tag team of unlikely heroes, and I cannot wait to see what they tackle next.
This was a cute and fun afternoon read. I enjoyed meeting Hazel Kinsey and her familiar, Tizzy. They are both sassy and independent. Ford Baylor, Hazel's high school crush, is an alpha bear shifter who has been waiting for her to return to Paradise Falls so he can finally claim his mate. Murder, laughter, magic and sass make this an engaging read.
Well what can I say. Tizzy is my new favorite familiar and I want her lol. Tizzy's beaver fever made me laugh out loud. I have to read on to see if she gets her beaver. I liked all the different shifters and the world. The mystery was good and I didn't work it out.
This is a fairly quick read. Not a bad mystery, characters were interesting. However, the ridiculous amount of time spent lusting after her high-school crush ruined this story for me. I wanted more about the town and its citizens, more clues, and a LOT less sex.
Having previously read Lily, the werecougars, series, this just didn’t have the same enjoyment that it would have had as I already knew what happened to Lily’s family, knew of Hazel and Ford, and had met the crazypants Tizz.
Loved Haze and Bear Baylor’s second chance at romance !! And it doesn’t hurt that it involves a few mysteries, best friends getting back together and of course Carol AKA Baba Yaga !! 5⭐️’s !!
I really enjoyed this book! I was pleasantly surprised at the creative, entertaining, original story line, and also with the happily ever after. I'd tune in for the next in the series, too!
I loved this book! Main character Hazel, a witch, left her small town as soon as she graduated high school and never looked back. Almost 2 decades later she is a strong, take charge FBI agent. Hazel agrees to return to her hometown of Paradise Falls to help investigate the murder of her high school best friend’s brother. Soon after she arrives, there is another gruesome murder and she encounters her high school crush at the crime scene. Hazel and Ford, a bear shifter, have great chemistry. Although it is a fated mates story the romance develops over time. The mystery in the book is a bit dark. The interactions between the characters, especially between Hazel and her familiar Tizzy, a flying squirrel, keep the general mood of the book fairly light. Witchin’ Impossible is a great start to a series. I cannot wait to see what Hazel, Ford and Tizzy get up to next.
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is book one in a new series coming from Renee George. I really enjoyed it. This was a fun, quick, enjoyable read. I had a smile on my face for most of the book. The only thing that I did not enjoy was how at times it came off as scattered. I mean we get thrown into this crazy world with little to guide us. This was really enjoyable read overall though.

I received a copy of this manuscript from the author in exchange for an honest review.
You know, the first half of this book was good. I was sucked in and loved the characters and story. The second half was like the rest of the stories by Ms. George that I've read. Terrible editing, spelling and grammar errors. Sighs. It's annoying to see a sentence that says, "It's is..."
Hazel Kinsey is an FBI agent so she was expected to have her gun, even though she is a witch who should be able to protect herself. Knowing where to start looking for her missing equipment, she called her flying squirrel familiar, Tizzy, to ask where she had put the Glock. She also smilingly threatened to toss her in jail if she didn’t leave her paws off Hazel's FBI-issued gun!
Hazel’s phone rang and it was her best friend Lily Mason whom she hadn’t seen since leaving Paradise Falls. She said her brother Danny, a werecougar, had been murdered and the witches would not investigate since magic wasn’t involved. The shifters also would do nothing since he had been a troublemaker. Every bone in his body had been broken and one of them had pierced his heart. Hazel put in a call to Grand Inquisitor Clementine Battles to get permission to investigate a supernatural crime. As she was leaving a message, the woman herself popped into the middle of the room, startling Hazel! Hazel had last used her magic when she was 18 and the Grand Inquisitor was not sure whether she could spellcast or not after all that time! She granted permission but wanted Hazel to be more active in their witch community in addition to owing her a favor whenever she called it in. The stage is set – let the shenanigans begin!
All I can say is that Tizzy the squirrel stole the show in this book! She was laugh-out-loud funny from beginning to end with a snarky attitude that won’t quit! All of the characters were very memorable, both the good and the ornery ones! The story line was fast-paced and really intriguing as FBI witch Hazel takes on the case to find a murderer at the request of her high school friend. The chaos that follows makes this a book you absolutely don’t want to miss – even if this is the second time you get to read it! It is such a joy and full of surprises!

A Fun Laugh out loud mystery that keeps you guessing. Leaving a suitcase load of personal tragedy behind, Hazel, a witch who couldn't control her powers and her familiar a flying squirrel, Tizzy, left Paradise Falls and became and FBI agent. She also left her childhood best friend, Lily behind. When Lily calls Hazel and asks for help in trying to find out why and how her brother died since law enforcement refused to investigate. Not wanting to go back, she couldn't refuse the cry for help from Lily. With the permission from the Grand Inquisitor, Clementine Battles (her Grandmother who jailed her father because he killed her mother), she sets off for Paradise Falls to investigate what could be a supernatural killing. the Grand Inquisitor gave her permission but with the caveat that Hazel owed her two favors. Things get really hairy, when her former crush, a Bear Shifter, is a member of the police department. There are many twists and turns and red-herrings combined with lots of snarky back and forth between Hazel and Tiz and Hazel and Ford Baylor, her crush you just can't put this down until you finish it to the surprise ending! Can't wait to see what's next. I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I can't help loving this book by Renee George. Tizzy is the best part of the story for me because she is the best familiar and up to all kinds of high jinks.
In this book she got beaver-fever. You will have to read the story to find out what that all entailed.
Don't get me wrong but Ford and Hazel also are good in this book but the squirrel took the cake.
This is second reading of this book and I still find it entertaining.
My first review of the book. Tizzy totally makes this story.
Take a bear and a witch who has failed at being a witch and throw in a squirrel who is just a little nutty and you have a story that will have you laughing even when bad things happen.
How does a failed witch become an FBI agent? Her familiar Tizzy has kept her company for the last twenty years and returns with her to Paradise Falls to help an old high school friend. Hazel will have to face her pass before she can have a future.
Oh man, this book had me laughing at the antics of Tizzy the squirrel she is not your typical witch familiar and it shows. This book was worth ready just for Tizzy alone.
Oh, my goddess! I loved this book so much. The dialogue is sassy smart, the characters unforgettable and the story a page turner. Reading the blurb it mentions a "horny squirrel" FBI witch Hazel, yep, that's what I said, has a squirrel familiar who is a riot. Hazel, a not-so-talented witch, left home right out of high school. She is a non-practicing witch and an FBI agent. When her BFF calls with bad news and in need of help, Hazel answers. She left with reasons and one of them is the gorgeous bear shifter, Ford, now a cop in town.
The murder of her friend's brother becomes more murders, forcing her to work with Ford who still makes her heart pound and other body parts react as well. He adds some more news to the mayhem.
The players are both shifter and witch and telling the bad guys from the good will take some strong power--can Hazel come up with what is needed? How will she deal with Ford and his news? There is some information withheld by many of the people in town. How will she handle this?
There is plenty to keep you turning the pages, smiling, laughing and raising your eyebrows at the inventive labeling witch Hazel gives things and body parts. Enjoy. I sure did.
FBI Agent hazel Kinsey received a call from her best friend Lily Mason about her brother's death she wants Haze to come home and help find who killed Danny Mason. As soon as she arrives another crime has been committed and the way the deaths occurred is what makes this case so strange but along the way Hazel fines out that something supernatural is going on in Paradise Falls and the Chief is a incompitent warlock and seems that Officer Baylor is very upset with her and she doesn't understand why until he reveals something she doesn't even remember. she has had a crush on Ford Baylor since she was a kid and she was at a party for seniors was the last time she remembers seeing him. As a witch she wasn't very good but she was an excellent special agent and she was there to find answers. She is there for her friend and to work this case not find love so she thought. Tizzy her familiar is thrilled to be back and in trouble right away. She and Lily seem to find trouble. Romantic mystery. Enjoyed the story line and the characters were very interesting. I purchased a copy and am providing an honest review.
Honestly, I don't even know who was murdered or why. The how was pretty gruesome (not gross, just very unfortunate). There are quite a few characters to keep track of here and the part that was especially funny was that everyone is either a witch or a "human" who can turn into animals. Like werebears, weresquirrels, wereracoons, werenskis (haha, that's a hockey reference) but oddly enough no werewolves. So we learn that when two "beings" become mated (where pheromones are attracted to each other) they is a smell that only the two of them can sense, like cinnamon pastries or vanilla and rum. I suppose that would not be too bad, for a while. I think cinnamon would give me a headache after too long. Could be worse....I have a cat that likes to pee everywhere but in the litterbox, that is a pretty horrible smell let me tell you! And if I were "mated" to someone who had that scent...ugh, vomit. So this is a whole series, up to 4, the last published in 2017 so maybe that's it. Might carry on with this series, might not. It's mostly fluff and sometimes fluff is good.
It was awesome seeing such a capable MC. In the majority of cozy mysteries, the MC is an inept bumbling idiot poking her nose into police business. Usually, she has no reason to do this and the police are little more than incompetent fools.
Hazel is a FBI agent and while she IS a little bumbling when it comes to her magic, she isn't when it comes to being a law enforcement officer.
The chemistry between her and Officer Baylor is intense. I like that the author wrapped up the romance dance so quickly and now they're a couple. There are times when this dance takes over a book and leaves nothing left over for the mystery. The mystery should be front and center.
I consider this book more of an action book than a mystery because there really wasn't much of one. What book did have in spades was exciting and interesting action.
I am looking forward to reading more books from this author (there were only a handful of errors! A minor miracle in books lately) and in this series.
This is a great book; this is the first book in the Witchin’ Impossible series written by Renee George. When FBI agent and witch Hazel Kinsey and her familiar Tizzy the Squirrel left the paranormal town of Paradise Falls, she swore she’d never return. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author.
Fun, cozy mystery but with much more ’sex’ than normal
So I picked this up as a cozy mystery and you kind of know what you are getting. Murder mystery, so kooky characters and a romantic interest. They can be cookie cutter but that’s what we (I) love about them. They are my book equivalent of day time tv mysteries.
This book hits on the first two, however the last one is slightly different and becomes less cozy and more sexed up (for lack of a better term). I really could have done without all the colourful euphemisms and it made the book less sexy in my opinion than the normal cozy which hints at but leaves to your imagination (or maybe I’m just reading the wrong/right books 😆).
I did like the sassy squirrel and it was an interesting world so if you like your cozy’s with a smattering of innuendo and colourful euphemisms during the sex scene you will probably enjoy this.
I loved the deeper intro to Hazel. I read Lily's book first so knew who Hazel was, but didn't realize she had her own series too. This one begins with Hazel returning home to help Lily solve the murder of her brother Danny. Having left home after her mother's death and her father's incarceration, she becomes an FBI agent and doesn't look back to her home town until her best friend calls her. Aside from Lily, the only other person worth going home to is Ford, the only guy Hazel has ever liked. Unbeknownst to her, she and Ford have a special bond and leaving after solving the case may just be impossible.
As I said, I started these in kind of the wrong order so was already aware of where the story goes. It was nice to get the background and to become better acquainted with Hazel. Also nice to see that Tizzy actually likes Lily as you don't get that impression with her living in Missouri.
