Lara Perryman has spent her life carefully planning and saving for her future. She is looking forward to the prospect of spending the rest of her days in comfort in a leisure village in Wiltshire and the adventure that her new life will bring.
But when long-standing arrangements crumble, her situation quickly becomes worrying. With her dreams in disarray, Lara makes friends with the other residents and finds herself entangled in the ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies of her new community, hoping against hope that her independence will one day be restored.

Another entertaining lighthearted read from Anna Jacobs. I look forward to reading the next one. I did pick up Euan and Molly characters from Moving On and the Wiltshire connection, but this is not a book in the Penny Lake series,
I picked this one up out of curiosity seeing that this prolific author is extremely popular (although I hadn’t heard of her). I went into it knowing it was going to be a light romance type of read, which isn’t my usual type but occasionally I hit a good one so I try to keep an open mind.
It didn’t take long for me to confirm that this was going to be a fluffy, light read, but I knew it would be a quick one so I read it through. Needless to say, it was very predictable, with a lot of coincidences that pushed the limits of my disbelief. However, I’m not going to score it badly for that because I realize that’s what it was meant to be. It would be a pleasant enough little read for anyone who likes this genre, so I’ll give it 3 stars.
I loved the fact that this book was set in the modern day. Lovely to read the start of another series by Anna. However I felt like nothing much happened in the first half of the book and much preferred the second half. Will be interested to read the next one
I enjoyed this book and the characters that made it Lara was a lovely lady but was treated quite badly by her old boss who was a horrible man i thought she was very independent and strong to have stood up to him. Then coming back to England and having all her money stolen was so sad but she battled back and found Ross lovely man that made her happy.would recommend this author to all readers.
I found the book a very very simple read. Felt the story was rushed or maybe too many plots were being condensed into it.
It's also very puzzling how Nonie Jayne can be staying in an unknown hotel not within the Penny Lake Leisure Village (Read Chapter Seventeen and Twenty One) and within the same day without any chance for her to move based on the story plot is suddenly living in the hotel within the leisure village (Chapter Twenty Two). Doesn't make sense at all.
I was so excited to read Changing Lara, I decided to re-read Moving On first- the start of Leisure Village at Penny Lake. Changing Lara is a good read but a bit slow moving in the first part. Looking forward to book 2 in this series
As I read this book I wondered what certain things could possibly have to do with Lara. One of these was John Crichton. As the book moved on , everything came together, often in an usual way. I loved it.
A light-hearted read. My first book by Anna Jacobs and I fail to see why so many people rate this as 5 star? But keeping an open mind, I read through to the end. The plot was okay if not predictable. I liked the setting in Wiltshire, if only because my mum was born there.
Yet another heart-warming story from Anna Jacobs. I love her strong and resilient female characters. I look forward to book 2 to find out what happens next.
A much more modern era setting for this author (who is one of my favourites). It was just as enjoyable as her historical ones and I look forward to reading the others in this series.
As usual another great series by Anna Jacobs. Loved the characters in this book. This is a bit more modern than her usual books but it was just as good and I Loved the storyline.
