Ooh, Lisa Harris writes such non-stop, action-filled suspense that will take your heart and mind on a roller coaster ride! The writing is easy to follow, plot is fast-paced and intense, and the characters are amazing and so easy to love. If you’re a romantic suspense fan, you won’t want to miss this book!

Gabby is a young widow with a baby girl and still grieving the death of her soldier husband. She’s gentle, tender, loving but persistent in trying to find out the circumstances of her husband’s death, even in face of danger. Liam is her deceased husband’s best friend and fellow solider who was there when he was killed. Liam has a strong sense of justice and a huge protective nature but is also tender and thoughtful. As they dodge threats and attempts on their lives while trying to piece together the puzzle of the death, they reconnect and their friendship blossoms. I loved meeting Liam’s older brothers and can’t wait for their stories to unfold as the series continues.

I received a copy of the book from the author/publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

This is a clean Christian read with a lot of suspense! Gabby Kensington has just lost her beloved military husband and is still grieving his loss when suddenly her life is endangered. Apparently, her husband Will had discovered some kind of illegal dealing and was about to reveal it when he was killed on the battlefield. Now, those he was going to expose are threatening Gabby and her infant daughter Mia. Gabby is invited to stay with the family of Will’s best friend, Liam O’Callaghan. The O’Callaghans are a generous, warm and loving family who accept Gabby as one of their own. But they end up having to protect her from the evil that is determined to destroy her. Drawn irrevocably into the conflict is Liam, Will’s best friend who was on the battlefield with Will when he was killed. Liam continues to feel guilty about Will’s death and he is determined to protect Gabby at all costs. The characters were realistically portrayed with a lot of detail about the military and the physical and emotional toll that it puts on the military member as well as the spouse. As a wife of a retired military member, I thoroughly enjoyed the empathy for Gabby and the hardships she has faced as the spouse of an active duty member of the armed services. I also can attest to the accuracy of the portrayal of Gabby’s love for her husband and difficulty moving on to a new relationship. I enjoyed the suspense that built up at the end of each chapter, keeping me reading to the next chapter and the next and the next. This book was really hard for me to put down because of the military backstory and the rolling action that was like a stone with moss...it just kept me reading and loving it! I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy romantic suspense, particularly romance that is a clean read.

With her arms full of an infant and supplies, Gabby Kensington arrives home to find the place ransacked. Not knowing if the intruders are present, she flees to find someone safe. Gabby decides that her deceased husband's best friend is the best option. Liam O'Callaghan and his family offer refuge and time to discover who threatens the lives of Gabby and her daughter. In the process, she discovers that Liam might not be the safest man to her grieving heart. The unknown enemy lurks ahead of their investigation, forcing Gabby and Liam to work together to quickly resolve the threat.

Lisa Harris weaves an intricate tale of suspense and second chances while teaching the value of community and reliable friendship in a world of lone rangers. After all, self-reliance is a desolate island for the soul. While risky, interdependence fosters growth and maturity.

I received a copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

I really enjoyed this book by Lisa. It deals with 2 issues loss and trying again. Gabriella Kensington lost a husband and was trying to find answers. What I liked about this story was the way Lisa wrote the story. She didn't provide quick answers. The problem was going on for a while and she turned to her husband's friend for help. That is were the mystery is going to be answered and alot of action would increase. Here is were we meet Liam O'Callaghan friend to her deceased husband. This is were we get to learn about what her husband Will was working on before his death. The mystery is getting solved and the action is interesting. I really enjoy when love happens and weddings take a while to happen. I also like the fact that they bring out the fear that Gabriella has of loving another soldier. That its going to take time to conquer some fears. Its a great story and easy to read.

Lisa Harris knows how to write suspense that keeps you on your toes on every page. This is no exception. Gabby Kensington is still grieving the loss of her military husband, Will, as she strives to raise their daughter, born after his death. Will was involved in some investigation prior to his death which made his death suspicious. Gabby's been asking questions to better understand what happened and soon discovers she is getting too close to some bad guys who may or may not have had some involvement in Will's death.

Gabby runs desperate to keep her daughter safe and finds protection and comfort from Will's best mate, Liam O'Callaghan. Liam's been on medical leave from the military and is hoping to soon be passed fit to return to action.

The bad guys chase Gabby convinced she's got information that will bring them unstuck. Things get really hairy for Gabby and chivalrous Liam comes to her aid. Liam grappling with survivors guilt having seen Will die, is not going to allow his best mate's wife be taken out too. What ensues is a realistic story of military corruption that has turned deadly.

Can Gabby and her daughter be protected? Will the real bad guy be uncovered? Is Gabby's heart ready for love again and with his dead husband's best mate? Could she allow herself to get involved with another military man?

Harris writes a clever story with two wonderful lead characters. The cast of characters involves Liam's family who we will get to meet more of in future stories in this series. I'm looking forward to the next instalment of the O'Callaghan brothers.

I was provided with a complimentary copy by the author with no expectation of a favourable review.

Secrets come to light in this new suspense by Lisa Harris.

What had Gabriella’s late husband discovered?

Why are people after her now? What does she know...or what is it that they think she knows?

I enjoyed this fast-paced suspense, and the start of a new series by Lisa Harris.

Gabriella ~ oh I felt for her. Trying to find out more about her husband’s death, she unwittingly asks the wrong person a question that brings trouble to herself and her baby daughter.

Mia ~ what a little sweetheart!

Luke ~ a great hero with a sense of justice and honour. A true soldier!

The Callaghan family ~ I loved meeting them, and am really looking forward to reading the stories of Luke’s brother’s when they come out. Especially Reid’s!

Gus ~ I enjoyed his part in this story, and I hope he appears in the stories of the brother’s too! I also hope he gets his own second chance story...if not one of his own (which would be great – hint, hint, Lisa!) then included in with one of the brother’s stories.

One thing I really appreciate about a Lisa Harris story, be it a Love Inspired or her longer novels, the romance is always a slow build, it’s very much a secondary part to the story, and the sensuality level is always low. With others Christian authors venturing into more “edgy” fiction, Lisa Harris remains a breath of fresh air, and once again, this holds true in this story. Thank you!

*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are completely my own.*

Lisa Harris is a master of the romantic suspense genre!
I totally love her books!
This story engaged me since page one. Gabbriela Kensington is a recent military widow with a sweet one year old daughter named Mia. Mia it’s her everything right now and she’ll give anything to keep her safe. Which is a great task at the moment. Since her husband Will’s death in the battlefield Gabby has been trying to discover a mystery behind the last letters he sent her before dying. He had been uncovering some ilegal dealings in the military team and he needed proof of what he was suspecting before he could go to the authorities. But now he is dead and Gabby wonders if someone found out he was suspicious and had something to do with his death… So she starts asking questions, until she starts being threatened: messages at first, and then someone ramshackles her house. She’s alone, her parents in Florida. The only person he can trust is Liam, Will’s best friend…
Liam O’Callaghan is still recovering from his injuries and dealing with PTSD. He carries the guilt of his best friend’s life. Could he have done something? Why not him instead of Will who never got to see meet his unborn child? He tries to check on Gabby but doesn’t feel strong to get too near. Until she’s threatened. He vows to protect her and her child and he has to unmask who is behind the threats. And is what Gabby suspects that Will’s death was not coincidential really true? Is there a thief and a criminal behind?
This is a totally page turner! I was gripped with this story as the mystery unfolds and many dangerous things starts to happen: murder, abduction, etc. All that while both of them try to resist to the undeniable attraction. Gabby will never marry another military who will put his life and her heart at risk. She doesn't know if her heart is ready to love again. And Liam can’t ask that from Gabby either, nor can he abandon his passionate profession, the one he is anxiously awaiting to resume.
I totally recommend this book. It will captivate you. The characters feel real and relatable. I loved the O’Callaghan family, especially Liam’s mom, and how they adopted Gabby and Mia as part of their family. And the romance was really sweet and clean. A second chance at love!
I’m eager to read more of this series! Loved it!

Thrills and adventure begin on the very first page of this book and they never let up. Gabriella Kensington is shocked to arrive home to find her house broken into and her living room trashed and from that point on her life becomes like a dangerous roller coaster ride. She has reasons to believe that her soldier husband had discovered proof of illegal military transactions and that his death wasn't really an accident. This break-in and a late night car chase convinces her that she and her 17 month old daughter are now in danger also. What follows is a tale of threats, attempted murder and the realization that very few people can be trusted. Gabriella finds friendship and protection from her late husband's best friend and soon they both are caught up in an intense search to solve a military conspiracy and avoid being killed themselves. Liam O'Gallighan proves that that he can be trusted for the long haul but Gabriella resists his attentions because she doubts that her heart can survive loving (and perhaps losing) another soldier.

Sheltered by the Soldier is an exciting Christian fiction novel filled with intrigue and suspense and it also touches on the unsettled lives that military families must endure. Lisa Harris has created some very realistic characters in Gabriella and Liam. Gabriella is the perfect example of a military wife who feels great pride in her husband's dedication to serving his country but fears each and every day that his service may cause him harm. Liam O'Gallighan exemplifies the man that most parents hope their daughters will marry: he is trustworthy, honest and loyal. And most of all, Gabriella and Liam both share a common faith and trust in God.

Sheltered by the Soldier is a story of love, faith and the hope of second chances and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense novels.

When Gabby Kensington discovers that her husband's death overseas may not have been the accident it was portrayed as, she begins investigating on her own. Her phone calls place her squarely in a killer's sight, and there is no one in the military that she trusts to keep her safe, except her husband's best friend, Liam O'Callaghan. Injured in the same blast that killed her husband, Liam has been on medical leave, healing from the wounds he received. Will he believe her when she tells him someone is after her?

For Liam O'Callaghan, getting a call from Gabby Kensington brought back memories he had no desire to revisit. However, he can't leave his best friend's wife without protection, especially when her baby daughter is also threatened. Sheltering them at his family's ranch, where law enforcement abounds - his brother is the sheriff, and his father is the retired sheriff - seems like the best bet, especially since her stalker seems to find her wherever he hides her.

When Gabby's baby is taken from his parents' house, it becomes apparent that they are up against someone with some pretty advanced technology on their side. Can they find the baby girl before the killers decide she isn't valuable as a hostage anymore? Can they figure out who has the most to gain from silencing Gabby, even if she hasn't found the actual evidence her husband had?

Lisa Harris is a rock star with romantic suspense, in my opinion. I had no idea who the antagonist in this story was until Gabby and Liam found her husband's evidence near the end. The roller coaster of "she's safe", "No, she isn't" was played out several times, and just when I relaxed, Boom, the baby disappeared. I've read some of Harris' longer books, and a few of her LIS novels in the past, and this one is another winner. I highly recommend pretty much anything she's written.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Sheltered by the Soldier. I always enjoy Lisa's books. She writes a mean suspense. This book is well written, action packed, and full of faith. You can't beat that formula. I know you are going to love this story.

Widow Gabriella Kensington finds some letters in her husbands trunk. Her husband's letters state that he was investigating something. She is sure that's what got him killed. She goes to the military but they gave her no information and then shortly after that her home is ransacked and she finds herself on the run with her eleven month old daughter. Who can she call? She calls her husband's friend Liam. He had been injured in the same explosion that killed her husband. Surely he can help her.

Soldier Liam O'Callaghan was Will's best friend. They had been deployed together. Will had died but Liam had been injured. It has now been a year, he really doesn't want to deal with Gabby because of the guilt that nearly consumes him that he lives and Will died and left Gabby a widow. He had promised to care for her so runs to her aid. She is attacked on her way to meet him. Can he keep her safe? She's convinced it has to do with Will's death but how can that be?

A death defying journey as evil men do everything they can to shut up Gabby and Liam. God has a plan for these three souls, a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch work out all your troubles. God is good all the time.

Gabby was devastated when she lost her husband to an IED. He had been investigating some illegal dealings but just before he was going to reveal what he had found, he was killed. Gabby and her baby were now in danger from the ones he was about to expose. When the threats got to be too much for her, she called her husband's friend, Liam, for help. He took them to stay at his family's ranch where he knew everyone would look after them. Liam had also been living at the ranch while he recuperated from injuries he got in the same explosion that took his friend. He was determined to keep Will's family safe while he investigated whoever was after them.

I really liked Gabby. She was a strong woman and wonderful mother. I admired how she wanted to continue her husband's investigation after his death. Liam was protective (as were his whole family) and always wanted to see justice served. Not only did he have a strong instinct to protect others, but he was also a kind, thoughtful man. Keeping Gabby and Mia safe turned out to be much more difficult than he expected. I liked how they got to know each other again and that their friendship rekindled and their feelings grew, even as they were trying to stay alive.

If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense, you will like this book.

Get ready to go on a ride with Lisa Harris’ and the O’Callaghan family. This first story features Liam O’Callaghan and his best friend’s widow Gabby, as they uncover what killed her husband and his best friend. Gabby is a strong woman who over the last 17 months has been grieving and raising her daughter. Liam is dealing with survivors guilt and together they must find a way to deal with their pasts in order to find their future . I also liked how she touched on both the strength and difficulties of those who have loved ones in the military. This is another enjoyable read by Lisa Harris check out her other book too.

Oh so many romantic-happy-sigh moments mixed with RUN-AWAY suspense moments that I just couldn’t put it down! Perfect sparks and chemistry between Gabby and Liam in a setting that makes sense. The history between and the mental and emotional blocks they both fight are also well-written in this suspenseful page turner. I was so suspicious of everyone. Such great mystery! Definitely a bookshelf keeper for me!

This is the first book that I've read of Lisa Harris's. This story grabbed me at the very first. It had mystery and suspense. Someone is threatening a young military widow, Gabby Kensington, and her baby, Mia. She goes to her late husband's best friend, Liam O'Callaghan, for help. Liam has three brothers, which I see this is turning into a four book series. I can't wait to read the other brothers' stories!

Can I love Another Soldier?

Gabby knew she had to turn to her husband's best friend. Since Will's death she just could not get it together. When she started getting threats, men breaking into her home, a man being killed and Liam protecting herself and her baby, Mia, Gabby knew her life would never be the same. A must read.
