Buzz along as Musca Domestica, a housefly, narrates the fine points of a forbidden affair. Readers, depending on your standpoint, age may or may not be just a number! If you're old enough to vote, drive and make life altering decisions, can you enter into a consensual relationship? Please be advised that the hot and sticky sex scenes will raise the heat considerably which in turn may rock your boat. Grab hold to a life jacket... as you deliberate over whether it's desperation or love?

Theodore Lakewood is a senior at West Dade high school. At 18, he's ecstatic to have the keys to the Maxima. The star basketball player is playing it smooth avoiding traps of young girls looking for an escape route to fame and fortune. He's dreading the fact that he's got to deal with Ms. Fatrick, but will his consistent detentions correct their issues?

Paige Patrick is 32, an English teacher for the last six years and recently divorced. She spent her summer working some issues out. No longer will she be ridiculed as the chubby mean teacher, Ms. Fatrick. Though she is free of the weights in her life, she's lonely. When times get too hard, she allows her ex to pillage her garden. Can she finally find a `man' to handle her?

When hidden `relations' are unexpectedly scrutinized, can these revelations trigger damage or will love last?

Fly On The Wall deals with adultery, ethics, sex, and loss. The truth- We all know that it's usually those whispers in the dark that keep the hotness flowing. I would've preferred to read in depth about the consequences surrounding West Dade high school affairs as well as the pending court case.

Trista as usual is hittin' nothing but net.

Behind Closed Doors

Fly On The Wall is a very good book that grips you from the very beginning and keeps your eyes and attention glued to the very end.

Paige is a high school English teacher with a good heart. She's been on an emotional roller coaster with her ex husband for years. The only person she can confide in is her best girl friend, Toni. Toni is constantly telling Paige to leave her ex-husband alone, but, Paige believes that Craig is the only one that can satisfy her wants. Craig was never true to Paige during their marriage. Since the divorce, Paige has gotten a new attitude and lost some weight. If only she could find a man that would provide her with the same satisfaction as her ex, then life would be better for her.

Theo is young, handsome, and a tad bit arrogant, thanks to his status on the basketball team. He's in the 12th grade and he not only thinks he's all that, but so does everyone else! Theo is definitely what the NBA looks for. He's just not certain if he wants to go to college or straight to the league. He has decided to keep everyone is suspense on his big decision. It's amazing what a possible first round draft pick gets Theo, the girls are willing to risk it all encouraged by their families as well, which does nothing but boost Theo's ego to an even higher intensity.

How much would you willing risk for love?

I had low expections for this book but man was it good and juicy! As it turns out this is one of the best romance books I've read in years. It follows Paige a high school teacher and Theo a high school student in which both of them falls in love with each other. But wait before you get any ideas Theo perused her not the other way around. Oh and don't let me forget to mention that the fly on the wall is the one that is telling the story. In this book you'll go in a wild adventuure exploring the lives of Paige and Theo and what truly bonds them and makes them connected. Awesome story, amazing writing! I will definitely read more from this author.

TW: misogyny; homophobia; biphobia; a sexual predator outs her boss as fucking his male subordinate/her coworker to deflect from the fact that she's fucking a student; domestic violence; severe anti-choice statements; minor character deaths; marital sexual assault via drugging and forcing a spouse to consent to sex acts; cheating; dub-con scenes with no warning or safeword; sexual harrassment; various sexually predatory behaviors; weird racial undertones I probably won't explain well

I first read this when it came out and I was going through a huge teacher/student erotica phase. Fanfiction or published original fiction, I couldn't get enough. Wrote plenty of my own teacher-student fanfiction that I was really proud of. I've left it up all these years so yeah, still okay with the fanfics. I remember thinking this book had some incredibly stupid parts in it with awful messages about gay people. Thirteen years later, I wanted to know how I'd receive it. It was much worse now that I'm a more critical reader. There are -so- many other erotic books and fanfiction that are better structured with hotter scenes. The title and framing of this book--that a fly on the wall sees all the sex--is completely pointless. It takes away from the immediacy of the scenes, tries to be a minor character but is really pointless, and is a bucket of cold water on most people's libido unless they are into imagining insects. This has been categorized as a romance but it's really not at all. It's poorly-structured erotica.

This book...satirizes sex. I can't describe it any other way. People with sex drives are mocked, and people without them aren't even mentioned. Everyone is a wind-up orgasm machine in this. Nobody cares about anything except their next orgasm. Every man in this is creepy and borderline rapey towards Paige, and she convinces herself she's fine. The first two men we meet who are examples of this are a bisexual man who Paige goes back and forth on whether she should flirt, and her ex-husband who she's still sleeping with. The reason I wrote that sentence that way was because that's allll Paige sees them as. How they relate to her sexually. Theo sees girls and women this way too. So, Paige goes from "huh, should I flirt with my gym buddy?" right into "wham! ask him on a date!" and then "boom! ask him for sex!" within five pages as he's creepy towards her. In another book, I'd buy that she was trying to exert some control over a sexually creepy situation by being even more forward, but uh...the author can't pull it off.

Dorian, the gym buddy, goes with Paige to a party with a few other couples. It's practically an orgy but with everyone at least partially clothed. Paige insists she has no problem with gay men, but she's a raging homophobe and biphobe, as evidenced in the next paragraphs. The straight couples are groping and drooling, yet the one gay couple is demonized for doing exactly what the straights are. pressures Paige to go back to his apartment, and I think this was common to 2009 romances and I just forgot. Aged so poorly! So he's revealed to be bisexual and lies to Paige about his boyfriend, and then his boyfriend beats him up. There is no buildup or warning for a lot of incredibly serious issues raised in this book, and I hate it. The issues are always, always ignored by the next two paragraphs because either Theo or Paige are having orgasms or thinking about it.

There are weird racial undertones in this. Lighter skin is prized, as is straighter, longer hair, among other things. Everyone's body is described like food. Caramel fingers, hunks of meat as a descriptor for penis or entire body, stuff like that. This book has the tropes, descriptions and structures that I'm used to seeing in bad romances, particularly bad fanfiction. I read and write a lot of it, so I am going to point it out as such. A professional editor should have caught and restructured the whole thing. Is the fly on the wall a self-insert of some kind? It's self-congratulatory of the author in any case. "Look at how great the porn I'm writing is!" No.

Everyone with a penis is desperate for Paige, and she both despises and pardons herself for sleeping with any penis-haver who asks. Choose a worldview on sexual behavior and stick to it! The author was trying so hard to have Paige be conflicted, but is horrible at writing it. Or she could have had both by fleshing Paige out and explaining -why- Paige both despised and pardoned herself for sleeping with men in various relationship situations (married, single, lying).

Toni is drugged by her husband when she tells him she's reluctant for group sex. She cannot consent to these acts due to the drugs in her system. The author firmly believes "it's not rape if you enjoyed it." My skin is crawling just typing that. Paige legit refers to a high school student as her "nemesis" because the high school student is flirting hardcore with another high school student, who Paige considers to be her boyfriend. Nemesis...is a Greek goddess who seeks justice/revenge against wrongdoers who receive good things and their bad deeds are overlooked. Theo is the good thing Paige feels entitled to. Angie is the perceived wrongdoer for...being the same age as Theo and sexually pursuing him. I realize "nemesis" is now a watered-down term for "enemy," but both definitions when a thirty-two-year-old uses them against a -high school senior- are just indicative of how awful Paige is.

Every person who isn't Paige or Theo is crass, inconsiderate, and petulant in order to make Paige and Theo look good by comparison. Every adult in this book constantly giggles. It's odd, annoying, and pointless. Seventy-five pages from the end, a tragedy happens because the author needed this particular character out of the story. Why? The character was enabling Paige, which is exactly what Paige expected. Maybe there was a need for drama. In another book, this would have been so sad. Here, it's jarring. Theo freaks out that another man is comforting Paige at the funeral. This is the dead character's brother, jackass! Unlike everyone else in this book, he's not gonna drool and paw at her, nor snarl at you. Sit down. This is not about you. There's a dub-con scene the author probably thought was kinky but came across as creepy, and another that's arguably a rape scene. There's no foreshadowing or discussion about boundaries. There's extreme anti-choice messages in here, too, and it's sooo frustrating.

The author expects me to believe Paige and Theo are in love. Why? It's never shown. They're wind-up orgasm machines. Fucking, wanting to fuck, jealousy, and jealousy resolved by fucking is all this book is. It needed to be two hundred pages shorter, the characters needed to be way more fleshed out and interact much more frequently outside of fucking or talking about fucking, and it would have been nice to have a little more plot.

This book has a lot of themes that are poorly done. "The Boss" series by Abigail Barnette has a few of them as well, but does them right. "The Boss" is an erotic romance with an age gap and a boss/employee dynamic, and the first book is a free ebook. The series addresses pregnancy and abortion in a totally different way than here. There are minor character deaths much further along in the series (book seven, I think), and those are actually addressed with the sensitivity they deserve, unlike here. Friendships are solid in this series, and while they do talk about sex, it's certainly not the only thing they talk about. "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" by Jenny Trout is also an erotic romance but it's much, much shorter. Not a single word is wasted. The structure is much better. The sex scenes are transitioned to and feel natural. Safewords are discussed and used. Jealousy and conflict are factors, but the characters think and talk about why and how they're feeling, and acknowledge they're unhappy to feel this way. Skip this book and read those instead..

Well I finally finished this book. I'm in so much pain but this book kept me coming back. Even though I felt weird rooting the relationship on. I actually love Paige and Theo together. Even though he's eighteen years old you just have to relate it to your life. And I wouldn't want my son with a thirty two year old teacher. But I'm so glad I continued to read this book. This is a must read book. You won't be disappointed.

Patrick, but will his consistent detentions correct their issues?

Paige Patrick is 32, an English teacher for the last six years and recently divorced. She spent her summer working some issues out. No longer will she be ridiculed as the chubby mean teacher, Ms. Patrick. Though she is free of the weights in her life, she's lonely. When times get too hard, she allows her ex to continue to come satisfy her. And this is with the knowledge that he gave her a disease twice.

Can she finally find a `man' to handle her? You have to read this book. What a wonderful love story. Never thought those words would be coming out of my mouth. WOW!!!

Experience Is the Best Teacher,
Fly On the Wall is an excellent tale, wonderfully told. The plot: Man and woman meet. Man and woman fall in love. Trouble is, the man is an 18-year old high school senior and the woman is his teacher. Trista Russell pulls off the almost impossible: It makes you root for this immoral relationship. Fly On the Wall works - fascinating characters, solid plot and great pacing.

My compliments to Trista for being CREATIVE! I really like the clever concept of the housefly with its narration, commentary and inside scoop in the life of a fly. Musca Domestica had personality plus. Guess I'll think twice before swatting one. Musca, consider following Craig. Oh the stories you could tell!

Bzzz..FORBIDDEN LOVE..Bzzz...CLANDESTINE RENDEZVOUS...Bzzz...SIZZLING SEX..Bzzz...RAGING HORMONES...Bzzz...SCORNED LOVERS...Bzzz...SCANDAL...Bzzz..

Fly On the Wall has it all and them some.

I DNF this book after they did it the first time which is like 60% through the book! I gave 0/5 bc this book was pure trash.

BTW it has nothing to do with the student/teacher trope.

Concept was cool, but the ADULT is literally telling herself that her STUDENT is a grown man (bc his thing is the size of grown men and bc he “handles” her like a grown man).. baby this is a young man. An 18y/o… and THATS OKAY! She’s delusional and ion like that. Her trying to convince herself that this young man is indeed not an 18y/o high school star is just…….sad.

Maybe if she was more realistic about herself and what she was doing then maybe… maybe.

Interesting…This was a very interesting read. This was almost a book I didn’t read because of the scenario of a teacher falling in love with her high school student. However, this book definitely surprised me. The smut level was definitely on point, even though this is an older book! I began to root for Paige & Theo, they fought through even though the odds were against them. Definitely a good read!

Awesome Ending

This book was good. There were a lot of taboo subjects and it was a page turner trying to see how the characters would handle those situations. I'd give this book five stars. Bravo to the author!!!

I read this years ago when it first came out and I was in high school but forgot about it. Reread it and it's so dated with all the old references and slang yet it took me back to my childhood. This was a cute and quick read, although some parts are problematic for today's reader.

Fly on the wall is a book about a thirty-two-year-old divorced teacher Paige Patrick living in Florida. Ms. Patrick entered an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to society but Theo was eighteen (of legal age), extremely handsome, a senior, and a star basketball player at West Dade Senior High. Theo’s coach James is Paige’s cheating ex husband ,she went through a lot during the divorce and was completely stressed out .So she decide to get her life together and become a new women and lost some weight. The new year coming to school she was looking and feeling good. Every one else thought so to teachers and students. In Ms. Patrick’s 8TH hour English class Theo would come to her class late because of some girl. By the third week of school Ms. Patrick had enough so she decide the next time he was late he would have to serve a 30 min detention. Next class period he was late again, Ms. Patrick keep her word. Theo had several detentions during one month .While in the sessions there would be awkward glances, lustful stares, indirect flirting and sexual tension.
The story is written in dialog from the point of view of the main characters Paige and Theo, and then the fly on the wall tells the truth on what really happens. The love affair began in one of the detentions when conversations of Theo being a man or not, he told Paige he could prove it to her just how much of a man he was. The two of them turn there detention sessions into a love making session. After spending so much time together Theo decided that it was time to see Paige out side of school Paige agreed. Ms. Patrick through a swim party at her house for the English kids in her 8th hour class. She stayed in a huge house south Florida and kit was beautiful. But Paige had a surprise guess that she was not expecting her ex husband .Theo walk in on conversation Paige and ex where having about him wanting her back. Paige dismissed him and return to the party, Theo was upset and jealous because he really started to like Paige and the visited from her ex husband made him think the Paige still wanted to be with him and he would lose her. So once all the other teens left Theo hung behind and stay there with Ms. Patrick he explained to her that he was all the man she needed and he was ready to make it official.
Things began to fall apart when one day Paige and Theo went out to dinner at some fancy restraunt downtown , and they ran into James and he was pissed! He threatened them and said if they don’t stop messing around he was going to expose them to the public. But he did just that when Paige refuse to have sex with him when he pop up over her house.Paige lost her job,but Theo refuse to lose her.
This story is written in fast pace but it was very easy to understand and relate to differnt scenes. I really like the details that Trista Russell gives when she describe how the characters look. This was great book and I swear I could read it a thousand times.

Trista Russell took a difficult story line and made you fall in love with the characters.
Paige is a 32 year old school teacher who falls in love with her 18 year old student. Although, I couldn't imagine myself being attracted to someone so young, Theo is not your typical 18 year old boy. He is a man and proves to be a better man than Paige's ex-husband Craig.
Craig is Theo coach, but he is also a man who wants to have his cake and eat it too. He doesn't want to be married to Paige anymore, but he wants to be able to hit it on a regular basis. Which is why he gets jealous and tries throw his weight around a little bit, when he accidentally uncovers Paige and Theo's affair.
Eva, Theo's mother, plays a surprising part in the story. Just proves it a small world sometimes.
The secondary characters in this story was very interesting and add to this compelling story. You can't help, but find yourself rooting for Theo and Paige to make their relationship last, regardless of the age difference. I kind of wish I had saved this book for last, in my list of books to read, because this story is going to be hard to top. KUDOS Ms Russell!!!

Paige is a divorced English teacher who is attracted to one of her male students, who happens to be a star athlete. They do a great job of hiding their relationship until her ex-husband catches them, followed by a hater.

Theo has his pick of girls throwing themselves at him, but he only has eyes for his English teacher, Paige. He looks forward to seeing her in class, as well as detention, much to the dismay of his coach. After awhile, he is willing to risk it all for love.

It's important to note that this story is told by an actual fly on the wall, and boy, is it juicy! I read this book when it originally came out, but felt that enough time had passed for a re-read. My favorite character is both Theo and Paige, whereas my least favorite character is Coach Stiller. That man been trifling for years!

Miss Russell has out done herself once again! I loved the book with every page turned! The characters were well developed, the plot and the whole idea of the affair was amazing. I wish Theo was in my life (even though Im not thirty something years old, Im actually very close to his age). Def worth a read. Without giving too much away, I will just say I was holding my breath every time I thought they were going to get caught, and how some specific people found out about them. Intense. 5 Stars all the way.

This is a MUST read. From the first page to the last page it always had my attention. I love how strong and mature Theo is! I thought I was going to pass out when the truth about her workout partner came out. I didn't see that comming, but it was a great twist. I wasn't too happy with the ending though, I wish it would have went on a little more like to the drafts and birth. I laughed so hard when he took Trese to his house for the pregnancy test! And I can't believe Tonis' husband tricked her into the swingers thing with drugs! That was absolutly crazy!

In this book everyone was in a situation where they learned a lesson. The charcters, story line and plots was very well developed. Don't let the summary on the back fool you because it's sound like a typical everyday situation that you hear on the news, but it's not even close to that. It's bigger and better all the way around. It's so good that it could be in the movies. So please go out and get this copy.

Truly shocked me! It sat on my night stand for 4 months just waiting to be read. I did not think it was going to be that good. Had characters that evolved and I felt like I was apart of the story as if I was literally a "Fly on the Wall". I wanted to dislike Paige because she was a teacher and Theo was her student but by the end I was rooting for their love to work. Lots of amazing twists and turns. Great read! I'll read it again in a few months ;-)

This book was amazing from start to finish. If you've read alot of my reviews you know I don't like sad books and I don't but you couldn't take anything away from this book for the quick sad situation that happened (I was glad it was quick and to the point I didn't need details about it). Excellent read but not for the faint of heart. If you've read this book I would love to hear what you thought about the entire situation.

For a story that was supposed to justify the taboo scenario of a teacher-student relationship by making it a true love story, this one was light on the love and heavy on the sex and improbable scenarios. People don't behave the way these characters did. Women in their thirties don't operate the way Paige did. All and all, this book was lacking. I wasn't convinced and the author needed to give more to make the story richer.
