Life was an American magazine published weekly from 1883 to 1972, as an intermittent "special" until 1978, and as a monthly from 1978 until 2000. During its golden age from 1936 to 1972, Life was a wide-ranging weekly general interest magazine known for the quality of its photography.
I've always admired Jackie Kennedy for her grace and class and also for her strength in the most horrendous moments in her life. This Life Magazine tribute showcases this amazing woman in her element and does so respectfully and with a lot of care. The photographs here that capture those moments in history are truly glorious and a testament to this wonderful woman and here for all time for us her fans and admirers to enjoy and remember her. A wonderful tribute that I highly recommend to anyone who has an interest in Jackie and JFK. For once upon a time there truly was a Camelot.
Features images from her whole life, marries a guy a decade older so she can be his arm piece as he runs for offices. Children, negotiate with White House to photograph children, vacation, shooting, after words, photo stalker, marry, divorce, aspire to matter by being in publishing. RIP. Some cheesecake.
Once again I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of pictures I hadn’t seen before. There were quotes and other “blurbs” in addition to the photographs. There were more color photos in this book than in the last one I read. While some of the black and white photos lend a certain elegance, I like the full color ones the best. 😊
What beautiful pictures! I was disappointed by the lack of historical information but thoroughly enjoyed the life in portrait of Mrs. Kennedy. What tragedy that family has experienced. I can hardly imagine.
Mostly a book of pictures of Jackie. There are captions of the pictures which describe when and what is happening in the photos. I like how this book is chronological, starting from Jackie's early childhood, to her marriage with JFK, and role as First Lady, to the later years of her life. I absolutely loved all the pictures! She had such an interesting life!
