Working Jayden

Rate this book
Jayden's second year of college is shaping up well. He's got a new job at the gym, some new football jocks to tutor, and he's even joined a wrestling club. He's facing his fears, embracing them, squeezing them for every drop of pleasure they can offer. And of course, there's Brodie: the cocky, arrogant, dominant roommate and, he supposes, a kind of boyfriend. Jayden is looking forward to another year drawing closer to the dominant roommate.

But a part of Brodie's past has returned to haunt him, the unscrupulous former friend who once stabbed Brodie in the back. And this walking bit of dark history threatens to open old scars, not just for Brodie, but for Jayden as well.

And when the football team finds out about Jayden's hobbies, he faces bullying and humiliation, and a darkening despair that only intensifies when Brodie disappears. Now he has to find Brodie, rebuild his relationships with his friends, and deal with the dark presence of Brodie's ex, all while dodging homophobic football players. All this, on top of passing intro to philosophy and washing sweaty towels at the gym, might just be a little too much for Jayden. But he's not going to give up, and he's not going to hide. Not anymore.

This 40,000 word gay romantic friends-to-lovers novel contains scenes of casual sex, spanking, submission and domination, consensual non-monogamy, and menage.

Thomas Carver lives the dream, with one foot in the midwest and one on the west coast. He's been seen at the opera and at the biker bar, a cocktail party and the alley behind the dumpsters. He's worked in the hot sun and the air-conditioned office, and knows all the gradations of pleasure between caviar on his tongue and sand between his teeth.

I have to say that Thomas Carver has certainly become one of my favorite authors. I have loved every one of his books. In fact when I start one I can’t put it down. The continuation of the story of Jayden and Brodie is so much fun.

I really enjoyed this story, even though the plot is a bit thin in places. Still, I got to really care about Jayden and Brodie and even Taran, so it made reading a pleasure.

I think these books need to be re-edited, as there are some glaring continuity problems and places where the names get mixed up.

Working Jayden

I liked the latest installment of the series, but felt the book title didn't match up with the storyline. I also expected Ryan to be a bit more intimidating, threatening.... something more. His character just caused more questions. Of all the colleges, how did he pick the same one Brody attends? What happened between Taran and Ryan?
I can't wait for the next installment in the series.

Always a favorite

I have always been a fan of Carver's style. Sometimes gritty, nasty and unsettling. Always got and erotic. The Jayden series so far is one of my faves because I am a fan of both romance and bdsm and, true to form it doesn't disappoint thanks to the masterful imagery from Carver. I can't wait for part three.

Secrets Come to Campus

Jayden is adjusting to being back after a mostly boring summer at home. But boredom's going to be the least of what he's going to have to deal with concerning Brodie. Throw a tiff with Taren, issues with Issac, and an outing with Oscar into some family stuff and an engaging story emerges. Recommend!

I wasn’t a fan of Brodie in this one. His character wasn’t as crass and arrogant in this one, which was part of his charm in the first book. He pretty much let Jayden down in this entire book when Jayden could have really used someone in his corner. I’d rather see Jayden dump him for TJ, the hot cop daddy.
