This process is applicable to everything in your life, from missing a flight to seeing your ex's engagement photo on social media to losing your job. Wouldn't it be nice to not be completely leveled by any of those occurrences? Plot After reading this book, taking the quizzes, and doing the themed meditations . . . you won't be!

I enjoyed reading it.

Pros:
-easy to read
-relatable
-it’s a quick read if you skip over the practice meditations and come back to them later

Cons:
-I felt like the practice meditations interrupted the flow while you’re reading. If I’m reading, I’m not in the mood or mindset to practice a meditation in the middle of a chapter.
-it would be helpful if the meditations were in some sort of audio form. Are you supposed to memorize 2 pages worth of instructions in order to meditate?

Overall, it’s a good read and I would recommend it

I bought this book because I listened to an episode about it on a podcast. The book itself is beautiful and it’s a really great book for those who want to ease into meditation. The author definitely helps by using very relatable and contemporary examples.

Read this book if you like no bullshit, strive for a higher vibration and want to love yourself.

Megan Monahan wrote the book that we all need about meditation. This boom is relatable, realistic, and has practices so easy to follow. The debunking of meditation myths and her candid writing style made me feel like this book was written specifically for me. As a Chopra certified instructor, you know that her processes deliver action when you set the intent.

You can read this book cover to cover or use as a reference guide and read pieces throughout it. I recommend this to anyone who is new into meditation or is looking to expand their current practice.

There were a lot of hard to follow tangents throughout this book, some relatable, others not so much. Now that I'm finished, I feel that the content hasn't really resonated with me.

In “Don’t Hate: Meditate” the author presents her journey into the practice, which I found interesting, along with awesome tips for meditation and several written meditations. Last year I challenged myself to do a guided meditation for 30 consecutive days. I'd done meditation on and off before, but I wanted to try it more consistently. Well, I blew past my goal of 30 days and now I never want to stop! Meditation apps to start with- Insight Timer, Calm and Head Space.

"Meditation is not about "stopping your thoughts." Nothing needs to "happen" when you meditate. The experiential benefits of meditation don't show up while you're meditating. Meditating is the mental workout that breeds results in the rest of your day. It doesn't have to "feel good" to work."

"Stop pressing the snooze button on your awareness. Are you ready to wake up? We can't just think our way into living our best life. A shift needs to occur to experience lasting change. As much as your mind houses some turbulence, it's such a privilege to be able to sit and explore it. You get to wade through the thoughts, the feelings, the stories, and the truths, and as you begin to surrender into that journey, you'll eventually feel lighter. You'll go from struggling to get comfortable in the silence to floating on top of it. And there YOU are. Each time you get quiet, you can return to that place."

I listened to this book as an audiobook narrated by the author on the Libby App. I found Megan Monahan's story/autobiography about her journey to meditations interesting, but not necessarily particularly impactful for me on a personal level. Sometimes the flow of the "story" felt interrupted by guided meditations during the book at the end of chapters. At least personally, when I listen to audiobooks I am often doing so while working on other tasks/driving etc. so I found the meditations sprinkled in the narrative portion of the book disruptive to the flow of the audiobook. The the last 1/4+ of the audiobook consists of guided meditations, which are easily accessible from the table of contents in the Libby App. I already have a meditation resource and wasn't looking for something new so I ended up returning this book to my library once I reached the guided meditation portion at the end of the book. However, if you are looking for a guided meditation resource, I would definitely recommend checking these out. Megan Monahan's voice is well suited for leading guided meditations, and the meditations I did listen to between chapters were nicely paced with gentle reminders of the meditation's focus peppered intermittently during each practice.

Fantastic! Megan (I'm on a first name basis with her since I've adopted her as my meditation teacher by way of my audio book) has brought the illusive world of meditation to my non-meditation-ee life. I love each and every swear word she uses. I love how down to earth this book is. I love how I never once got a generic or stereotypical vibe. If you're looking for change and you're ready to tackle yourself by spending time with yourself, hit this book. If you're not, still hit this book.

I had to order this book as a hard copy, because it looked so beautiful in the pictures and it did not disappoint. Beautiful cover, beautiful water color illustrations on the inside. It was a quick read for me, but one that I will go back to many times, because I found the different meditation techniques quite helpful and practical. The writing style is very quirky and fun, with the use of a lot of references to current topics (those will probably not stand the test of time, the meditation techniques will).

I have two minds about this book. The meditations are good..I really enjoyed them. However the discussions between led me to skipping over them. Nothing particularly grabbed me. I kept trying but I kept skipping

Easy to digest if looking to start the practice of meditation! Read the book in real time and continue to go back for the meditation prompts and “spiritual extra credit.”

A really good book to tell you the purpose of meditate/motivate you to start! It just took me awhile to get through. I didn't love the practices in-between/just weren't for me as I was reading! Megan is a good writer and puts good humor and relatable events throughout!
