Learning to Live and Love Like Jesus: A Discipleship Journey for Groups and Individuals

Rate this book
A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR CULTIVATING SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION—IN THE WAYS OF JESUS

For those who long for real transformation and hunger to experience God’s goodness in a way that changes their daily experience of life, author Brandon Cook offers a guide for authentic transformation in Christ. With 52 readings, you can read this over the course of a year or at your own pace, individually or in a small group. Learning to Live and Love Like Jesus will help you understand what transformation is and how it actually happens. At the heart of this book, you will see how Christian discipleship is about living for others in new ways and being empowered to love as Jesus loves.

Cook applies his experience working for several transformational Christian ministries and from pastoring a local church for over a decade, where he learned how to help people relate to God, self, and others in whole and healthy ways. Having wrestled for over 20 years with the challenges of sustainable character formation, he has written this “long-soaking” resource—one that takes time to sink in, yet produces genuine life change.

Search no longer for a practical roadmap of transformation. If transformation has felt inaccessible or too “mystical” for you, and if you’re looking for a resource to ground your life in Christian discipleship, read this book from The Bonhoeffer Project’s co-founder. It will help you engage God through practices and habits that have the potential to change your life. You’ll walk away with a fresh sense of God’s presence, hope that leads to new possibilities, and a vibrant sense of purpose and mission in the world.

This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It was exactly what I needed for this season of my life. Some topics included were habits, unhurriedness, silence, forgiveness, and gratitude, but there were many more. Highly recommended

We’ve been reading this as a staff for our leadership meetings and it has been great. Last year we rolled out new vision and mission to Love Like Jesus and to be Grounded, Growing, and Generous. All of these themes were touched on in this book and he provided really great questions in each section to promote conversation. The book is broken into 18 chapters that have 3 readings each, which makes it a really great book to study together. Really solid for church staffs or small groups to do together. As with any book there were things I didn’t fully agree with but for the vast majority it was fantastic.

The author presents some profound thought processes & mentality shifts that warrant serious consideration and application.
This book has had a profound impact on my faith and what it means to live it out like Jesus did.
While it did confirm some practices already in place, it also challenged me to make more space for God to work, move, lead, and abide in my life.
Grateful for this recommendation!

Excellent book for those that are following Jesus!

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read about following Jesus on a daily basis. The ideas are challenging and powerful! This will be a book that I plan on reading again in the future. Maybe several times. I highly recommend it!

Well researched spiritual journey book by Pastor Brandon Cook. Author sincerely takes the reader on a methodical road to Christian maturity. Take your time with the readings and allow the Holy Spirit to work on you. I love the question raised by the book “God, how can you be so good?” then let him daily respond to you.

The only reason reading this book hasn't completely blown my understanding of what it means to follow Jesus right out of the water is that I've already been listening to Brandon speak about all these ideas to one degree or another for the past six years at our church.

Truly though, this is a book that will challenge you as you read it. Brandon lays out in clear and concise and practical terms what it means to truly follow Jesus Christ, and as you read it all sorts of ideas, big IDEAS and small ideas, will be bouncing around in your head trying to make you a better person.

From personal experience, I know that my life is both different and better after being being exposed to these ideas and sitting with them intently and honestly. AND... I know that I still have so much further to go! It's exciting.

If you want to be serious about your personal journey with Jesus Christ, you won't find many better places to start than right here.
