Witching Hour: Sinister Legends

Bloody Mary...

Bloody Mary...

Bloody...maybe we shouldn’t test that just yet.

Urban legends, fact or fiction, at the end of the day they’re all stories. We know not to spin around the room in the dark whispering her name. We've heard about the man with the hook and the terror that stalks the babysitter while she's home alone.

But there are other tales told around the fire at night. The man finding the steps into hell and sanity flickering away. Mind control experiments by governments, big and small. The woman married to the man of peculiar tastes. There are the haunted hospitals, sleep trials in Russia and more.

Slenderman and Bigfoot are nowhere within these stories; these are only the unusual and dark ones, slanted into truth.

In every legend, there is a seed of truth. Welcome to the Witching Hour.

Trinity lives with her husband and five children in Virginia. She grew up overseas in Turkey and Japan, where her love of reading developed due to a lack of English-speaking television. As her need for written works grew, so did her desire to create worlds for others to enjoy. By the time she was in middle school she had started writing short stories. She endeavors to break the mold where modern stereo-types are concerned and create engaging characters.

When she’s not writing or working, Trinity still enjoys settling down to read a book or doing graphic art in her spare time.

I really love this book, brings to life the stories. Some parts can be slow, but keep going because the ends justify the means in all the stories. Would love to read more from each of these writers.

I love the idea of many different stories written in one anthology. Halloween is a fun time of year and while these stories did not terrify me (I am a sucker for all things that terrify) I really enjoyed them and hope to read more of them. I also love finding new authors and look forward to reading more from them as well. You will not be disappointed by picking up this book. I definitely recommend.

I am totally enjoying these short stories. So far I have read the stories of Jenniefer Andersson, Alyssa Brocker, Trinity Hanrahan, Maggie Jane Schuler, and Morgan Heyward and Charlotte E. Dhark. Each and every one of these stories are very well written. They contained drama, suspense, humor, some supernatural and some just creepy. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough on the ones I have completed. I think what I like the most about this anthology is when you finish a story, you can jump to the back click on the story and find more about the legend behind the tale.

This book is a collection of short scary stories just in time for Halloween. I gave this collection five stars because of a couple of different reasons.

One, the stories are well done. I am hoping that when the authors get the rights back that some of these are turned in to full stories. Sometimes this happens, and there are a couple that I am rooting for. Please tell me more!

Two, I did get some real shivers in some places. There are some interesting twists in some of these stories that I did not see coming. A few I kind of guessed, but the twists on the tales kept them interesting. Keep away from anyone with green hair!

While I didn't find any of them super terrifying, I grew up on horror movies, some people may find at least one to be a bit gory. But hey what's a good scary story without a killer or two?

I am a horror story fan and usually read full length stories. This book is filled with shorter stories but not so short that there is no time for the story development. Each story builds the characters and story line and then won't disappoint horror fans. I l have read some books with short stories that have let me down. Way too short to build the mood and characters. These stories are great. Not too long where it takes days to read and you may forget what happens but short enough to get a great story if you have less time.

I absoulety loved all the short stories in this anthology. Many of the authors were new to me, and I will now be looking to read more of in the future. A few of the stories were a little slow for me, but overall I loved everything I read. A great compilation of stories great for reading around the year to get your dose of Halloween.

I read this book over a few weeks just picking and choosing a story at a time. They were all fantastic short stories that entertained me and kept my attention. I loved being able to have a quick read before putting my head down to sleep. A little spooky at times but nothing to terribly frightening since I am a big chicken. Each story was great!

This book literally has it all; creepiness, humor, suspense... Amazing.
It reminded me of the stories we used to tell when we had sleepovers or sitting outside at night.
Recommend reading.

Witching Hour: Sinister Legends are a set of suspense filled horror stories based on urban legends. The 14 stories in this anthology are all very different but all of them held my attention. Some stories sent shivers down my spine and others made me think about, “what if that really happened?” I would definitely recommend reading this set of stories in the bright light of day because if you read it at night it could give you nightmares. Witching Hour: Sinister Legends are scary tales.

The stories end in a way that leaves your imagination going “aaaaaahhhhhhh”. Scary stuff that nightmares are made of...and I had nightmares! It’s not slasher stuff, but mind games to the max. And I couldn’t look away! I’m punishing my mind, but I just couldn’t stop! Pick up this book, you won’t be disappointed.

I loved every story in this book, in which this anthology is probably only the second or third book that I can say that about. I expected that there would be one or two I did not like or did not like as much but this author hit every single story with me! I'll bet everyone who is interested in this kind of story will love all or at least most of the stories.

There are a few gems in this collection, but most of the stories need a good editor. Or any editor.
