Seventeen-year-old Dane can't take it anymore. Tormented at school, ignored by his teachers, and with no friends to speak of, he attempts to leave his cruel life behind. However, a chance encounter with Addison, a young artist with her own painful past, opens the doors to a life beyond his daily misery. With guidance from Addison and her two closest friends ‒ Sandra, outspoken and fierce, and Pearce, caring and loyal ‒ Dane begins his process of healing. With their help, he has the chance to make a new beginning, and Dane is born again into a world of compassion, friendship and self-confidence.

Such a wonderful way of identifying complex issues in a non threatening way. Should be introduced to the senior English curriculum to help young people identify and deal with issues society is hesitant to address. Couldn’t put it down❤️

Great book and great to read something real that is important to talk about.

Sometimes I struggled with the switch in narrators and found some dialogue sentences seemed incomplete but that could be the style.

Over all I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would love to read a follow up. The epilogue seemed to tease that there is more.

I would also love to read more about some of the other characters stories. Maybe in future we will get to meet them all again.
