What was Taken: an untold story

Rate this book
A disturbing story of a devious serial despite his low IQ, David James Torgerson continually outwitted the mental health and justice system with tragic consequences for his eleven known victims.Set in the 1960's and 70's, this true crime novel begins with evocative coming-of-age stories that occurred in the author's life after being viciously attacked at the age of ten by a stranger to her. What was Taken then catapults readers into Torgerson's twisted and tragic murders including those of his wife, children and teen-age babysitter. Killing those close to him was his fatal mistake.

I liked how this book flowed nicely, and she gave lots of details. The author's survival of attempted murder when she was only 10 years old. It's frightening as it's hard to believe some of the things the killer did to adults, let alone children.

The authors word choice transports you back into the 1960's, and early 70s. Her story caught my interest from the beginning, it was very hard to put it down.

I've never read anything true-crime related or listened to any podcasts or anything, but I found this to be pretty interesting, and I think a lot of that draw was the local/MN aspect. For a free book I didn't know anything about, it wasn't too bad.
