Born and raised near Pacific Grove in California, where only about 15000 souls live, Hollie found her passion in writing since she was just nine. She would write odd short stories about fantastic beings or plays she would enact with her friends, where she was always captured by some sort of beast. In these stories, there was no Prince Charming, only dragons and werewolves that were both scary and fascinating.
As she grew older she dwelled into more adult topics. She learned about the fun and fire of steamy romance novels, where the peculiar traits of her favorite characters made them dangerously alluring, physically and psychologically. Today these characters are like people inside her head. They that won't leave her alone until she gives them life. And even though she is the only one writing, Fifty* is always there to assist with inspiration.
*Mom's girl. Probably the brattiest chihuahua ever.
1st - a shifter dentist told her that her son's problems is due to him being a shifter, but he could not tell her what to do to alleviate those problems.
2nd - The shifter dentist told her to seek the boy's father b/c of his problems, but he does not tell her the consequences for going onto shifter land
3rd - when she met her son's father, she stated shifters were not allowed where she lived. Yet when she went to shifter land, she did not realize she was not allowed to go there. And she never heard of the punishment humans faced in shifter's land, even though the shifters let humans go after they served their time. If as many people were punished and released as the author implied, someone would have yelled it from the rooftops and it would be common knowledge not to go to shifter land.
4th- in the story it is implied that it is common for humans to go to the shifter's land seeking punishment, yet it is not known by her or other humans what will happen to them
This lack of thinking through all the effects of the the actions the characters did, made it a so so read.
If you read nothing else of this review know that this is not a menage/polyam book.
The story is ok. I kind of had interest in the shifter world, but I didn't care for the system and nothing really changed about it on this story. The editing could have been better; there were a few broken sentences and fragments. There were plot holes regarding shifters bring allowed on human land and vice versa. Example: shifters aren't allowed on human land; if they get caught they are experimented on. However a shifter dentist told Susie about her son being part shifter. He told her in the human world! Guess he didn't get caught; although she was referred to him by a doctor who had to have known he was a shifter. The cover is what I really have issue with. Looking at it on October 15, 2018 there are three men and a pregnant woman. There is only one Hero in this story and no instances of a menage. The heroine is not pregnant; in fact the child mentioned in the blurb is six years old. I feel like this cover was meant to be a bait and switch and I want my rating to reflect that.
Audiobook review: Meghan Kelly has a unitary of bringing all of these characters to life and have you never wanting to hit pause. When Susie has a one night stand it’s not until 6 years later that she has the need to find her son Jason’s father because he’s not your ordinary man, he’s a shifter and their son needs help with the changes happening within him. This story is full of action and suspense, a story that you will be pulled into and cheering these characters on in so many ways. If you’re into paranormal romances then you should one click this book now.
I love shifter books and this book was (yawn)...boring! It started out well enough and I had a vibe of a shifter book meets Reign (from the CW) but that is about as exciting as it got. Fast storyline, odd flow, just not good in my opinion!
A heroine who is TSTL. She tells her kidnappers ‘she’s a human being and she demands respect’; she thinks to herself that ‘if she gets a chance to, she’s going to give him a piece of her mind’ about the auctioneer. Shes kidnapped and completely at the mercy of much stronger people than herself, she really seems an idiot. The world building is really weird and doesn’t make sense. The shifter land makes humans that wander into their land indentured servants for 7 years and force them into being breeders sometimes, but the human world apparently has no idea that this happens. As if many of these people wouldn’t be screaming their head off when they get to return to any media or police and none of the humans families look for them or contact human law enforcement for help when they first go missing either?!? So unrealistic. It was an intriguing premise, but very shallow execution. I had to put it down at 22%.
Overall a good story. Some things could have been a bit more developed: what the boy needed, the heroine's plan and if she had access to a shifter why was her knowledge so lacking, the political system of the shifters and humans, some polish on the spelling.
I did like the interaction between the love interests and the male lead and his slave/secretary.
A satisfying story but I think there is a lot of potential that could be developed to make it a richer world. Maybe in another book.
This book was a lot different and much better than I was expecting. I rarely read this type of story, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It's very well-written, with strong, likable characters. It's fast-paced, exciting, and adventurous. Plenty going on to hold the reader's attention. There is also a tenderness to the story which appealed to me.
I listened to the audio version which I thought was well done.
I liked this story. Alnath and Susie are characters that just .... Even though she’s human and he’s a shifter they get each other. I can say that I kinda cheered at a couple of points in the story... when you read it or listen to it, I bet you can tell which ones!! I don’t do spoilers, so I can’t tell you what happens!
Meghan Kelly does a good job as narrator as well!!!
I absolutely loved reading this book, Hollie Hutchins did an amazing job with this story and I look forward to reading more from this author, I highly recommend reading it, you won't be disappointed
There were numerous grammar errors and read half of the book then couldn’t read anymore. Sometimes the author would mean him but wrote her instead, this happened several times. I didn’t like the storyline either, with the treatment of humans.
Susie was a wild child and a single night of passion with a stranger left her pregnant. Several years later, her son Jason is suffering from mystery illnesses and the only explanation she can think of is that there's something in his father's past that could answer everything. The only problem? Jason's father was a shifter, a werewolf that snuck into the human world for a night. She needs to find him, but doesn't know his name, only the tattoo on his chest. But when she crosses into the shifter world in hopes of tracking him down, she's blindfolded and taken deeper into their realm, deeper into the darkness.
Aelnoth is the new lord of his werewolf pack in the shifter world. He loves his people, but not all of their customs. One in particular is the enslavement of the humans who stumble into their realm. He wants to bridge the gap between their worlds, but when he goes to the slave market to make a forced appearance, a red haired human with fire in her soul begs to be bought. He can't see her sold into sex slavery to be a breeder, so he casts a bid of his own.
As Susie tries to find her son's father and Aelnoth tries to keep his pack out of danger, two worlds collide in a dangerous way.
I'm a mom, so as I was reading, I could really empathize with what Susie was going through. Sure, my kids dad is my husband and I never needed to go on a dangerous quest to find him, but you know how it is. I could really respect Susie going to great lengths to find answers. While she's not a werewolf, she's definitely a protective mama who knows how to get what she wants.
I really enjoy a well planned fantasy world and wanted to know more about the shifter realm! It's just a really interesting concept to have it within the human world, in the open instead of hidden away. Where is it? Is the history taught in schools? How doesn't the government know more about it? Why has It been allowed to kidnap and enslave humans who are dumb enough to stumble over the border? I have some serious questions that beg answers...or some sort of companion novel to really flesh it out! It just had so much potential.
I believe the book deserves an updated cover to reflect the story. Susie's not pregnant in the book and there's no love triangle or multiple partners as hinted at in the cover. I'd love to see something dark and sexy. Like Susie in the woods with a wolf creeping behind her or she and Aelnoth facing off against their foes. The current one is misleading and does not reflect the story at all.
Narrator Meghan Kelly did wonderful work, as always. Her range is perfect and her ability to go from sweet romance to erotica is impressive. She also has a voice that is very easy on the ears. I've listened to a few of the books she's given voice to and can't find fault with her even tone and character inflections. At this point, I'd listen to her read a dictionary.
DNF ~ This book was a clusterf***. Plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon.
Let’s start with the cover. WTH? There’s like 3 guys and 1 pregnant woman, but the whole book is a single H/h and they have a one night stand and none of the book deals with her pregnancy. It’s when the kid turns 6. (I read the description, it’s not like I thought it was going to be manage/RH/poly or something ~ but it doesn’t make any sense at all, there’s not even a love triangle or anything) AND the first half of the book is about looking for a guy with a very specific wolf tattoo. The main guy on the cover? TRIBAL TURTLES! Hello ~ if you could photoshop in 3 guys, a wolf, and a pregnant chick ~ turn that turtle into a wolf!
Not only does h not know H’s name from a one night stand ~ she apparently doesn’t recognize him (and he doesn’t recognize her) despite the fact that a few chapters later the son is apparently the spitting image of him?
It’s illegal for shifters to be in human world and humans to be in shifter world but a human doctor referred her & her son to a shifter dentist in the human world? Plus, the whole reason that H & h met is that the supposed “Shifter King” was the one who brought H to human city for the specific reason of picking up human women. But wait! A few chapters later and “Shifter King” is all “humans are awful, disgusting, and only good for breeding and only as slaves”?
And the editing. It’s not the worst I’ve seen but seriously, did anyone proofread this? Incorrect words. The description of the tattoo kept going back and forth between describing it as having a “red band” to a “ban of red” (no ‘d’). h’s name was different a few times. Random sentences that just made no sense at all, like they were cut & paste from somewhere else. Incorrect pronouns multiple times making it necessary to reread paragraphs to decipher what was going on.
I gave up at 40%.
If this hadn’t been KU, I would have demanded a refund.
So you noticed how there are three beefcakes on the cover yeah? One would generally then think this is at the very least some kind of love contest? Or maybe the chick w the baby bump had a REALLY busy night and either of the three could be the dad? Or maybe they WANT to take on the job or whatever... either way... you see three dudes on the cover, you expect three romantic interests for the lady on said cover... regardless of the outcome.
Sadly this is not to be... the cover is very wrong for the story. This is a firmly mf romance. Not even so much as a love triangle... I don’t consider the doucecanoe of an illegitimate alphas son to be a prospect, sorry dude...
That being said... still happy to have kept reading upon realizing the cover and contents were not compatible. The story was interesting, had elements of dual discrimination that both humans and shifters couldn’t seem to see the irony in. They both did terrible things to each other, while trying to play at being victimized by the other at the same time?! Hypocrisy at its finest really. As a result our heroine is forced into a situation that requires her risk more than she should have had to, just to get her poor suffering kid the medical help he needed... but bless her heart, she did it anyways... and what she finds sure isn’t what she is expecting... but I don’t do spoilers so you really should check it out...

Susie's💃💋 drunken one night stand with Aelnoth🐺🍆🌋, a wolf shifter, results in Jason, a wonderful little boy👨 who begins to turn into a shifter🐺 at six years old!
Susie💃💋 doesn't have a clue where Aelnoth🐺🍆🌋 is, she just remembers the wolf paw 👣 tattoo on his chest with the red band signifying his noble clan.
Jason's dentist, also a shifter🐺, tells Susie she needs to find Jason's father! Jason is turning too soon!
ARC Received from Booksprout🌱. I also got the book📑 with KU.
There are a few misspellings, and wrong words used but not a lot. The book was interesting and easy to read. Since I have only read a few shifter🐺 romances, it was interesting to see how this author treated the Genre.
In this book the shifters🐺 isolate themselves from humans for the most part. Humans are second class citizens, and held as slaves if they venture onto shifter🐺 lands. The shifter🐺 clans don't get along and each clan is always trying to backstab or pull something over on the other clan. Shifters🐺 need humans to breed, and this is part of their weakness. Two shifters🐺 together usually produce an offspring with genetic problems, so they must have human blood to thrive. Yet some of the clans treat the humans badly.
>Book review – One Night, One Secret >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the series and ends in an HEA. Wolf shifter, Noth, and human, Suzie, had a night stand that resulted in Jason. As Jason approaches 6 years old, he is showing signs of shifting. Suzie goes to the shifter territory that humans are not allowed in to find Noth again. She wants Noth to help Jason. In this universe shifters and humans know about each other, but they do not interact or go into the others’ territories. Suzie is arrested and sold into slavery in the shifter territory. By chance, Noth purchases her, starting a feud with an unstable wolf over her. >The book’s world reminded me of the Planet of the Apes, where humans were not important and had no rights. Noth was very protective of Suzie, but was constantly leaving her alone to be attacked. The best scenes were of Noth and his son. The love and pride he had for his previously unknown son was so sweet. >There is a threat to the family in the form of an unstable wolf and his crazy mother. The threat is easily overcome, though. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The sense of danger was a bit weak, but the characters were well developed.
Hollie Hutchins creates an interesting and imaginative world where there is a different dynamic between shifters and humans. Shifters have their own territory and laws. The storylines are interesting and well written. The characters a nicely developed, the female lead, Susie, is human and has a one night stand with a male shifter, Aelnoth. The story fast forwards 6 years, when Susie’s son, a result of that one night stand, becomes illl and it turns out it is because of his Dad’s DNA. This leads to Susie’s adventure in to shifter territory in search of his Dad. The story gets more and more interesting and turns in to a roller coaster ride filled with drama, action and romance. I really enjoyed this book.
I listened to the Audible edition, Meghan Kelly’s fabulous narration entertains her listeners. She performs the voices of all the characters, give each their own voice making the story easy to follow. Her talented storytelling enhances an already great to the next level. Thank you for another great listen.
This is a book with a surprisingly wonderful storyline with an unending depth of heart and soul! What you find within these pages is a unique and interesting alteration to the normal shiftter plot that delighted and enthralled me. I know paranormal romance fans will enjoy every second of this fabulous book! Hollie Hutchins is a new to me author, and I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing and savoring this story with its fantastic story and wonderful characters. She is a fabulous author that you want to keep an eye on. There is no limit to her creativity, and she has a very special ability to pull your heart so expertly into the mix. You will not walk away the same after reading one of her masterpieces. Be prepared to lose your heart and soul to her special worlds.
The narration by Meghan Kelly was incredible and definitely on par with her usual high quality and perfection. I loved every second of experiencing this amazing story with Kelly's amazing talent. Nothing can compare to it, and I savored every part of this memorable experience. I am so blessed to have been able to share in this wonderful experience! Don't miss out!!
One Night One Secret By Hollie Hutchins Kindle unlimited purchase Aelnoth, Noth to his friends. Has respect for humans, most shifters thought they were just needed for breeding purpose and that was it. Humans male are female we're abducted and brought to action to be sold to the highest bidder. And he has put his mother off for as long as he could. So now he is in front of the humans and one stands out to him. Six years ago, Suzie had a one night stand. All she remembers of him is his tattoo, and that he is a shifter. Now here she is with her son in pain and about to go to another doctor. She will do anything for Jason even cross into shifter land to find his father. I enjoyed this book. Would be great to get a series about these shifters to read more about this world. The relationship between Noth and Suzie was one for the record books. He knew there was something about her from the moment he saw her on the auction block. And his love grew from there. And neither one even questioned that "love".
This kind of romance is not too much what I like, I tried to be the fairest. It is rather well written and I am attached to the characters, in a monarchy entirely invented with its hierarchy and its rather cruel laws, its slave markets and the cruelty of certain clan leaders. A mixture of real world that knows the existence of a forbidden world filled with beings who transform themselves from human beings to wolves at will. Six years after having an alcoholic night with Aelnoth, Susie needs to find him because she had a son and she sees that he is different and suffers. On that drunken night, she had realized that Aelnoth was a particular being, but confuses by her condition, she had retained only the tattoo of his clan. To understand what happens to her son, she will have to find him and she must go to his world with all the dangers because humans are prohibited and sold as slaves. This was an excellent read from Hollie. Her shifter story is full of action, intrigue and Suspense. A one night stand with no names leaves Susie with a beautiful little boy. All she remembers of his father is a paw print with a red band on his chest. When little Jason begins to show signs of being a shifter Susie knows she needs his fathers help but going into undervale to find his father is not without peril. Humans caught by Shifters are sold as breeders and Susie gets caught. Aelnoth buys her without realising who she is but as soon as she speaks he knows she is the woman he had an unforgettable night with. When Susie tells him about his son he believes her and decides to help her and his son, but this makes them all vulnerable from the other Shifters. Can Aelnoth keep Susie and Jason safe especially when the psychotic shifter who caught her decides she is his.

Jason is having some medical issues, so when Suzie takes him to the dentist, she is told to find the father of her child. The one night stand she had six years earlier was amazing, but with no information, not even the name of the man she was with has her going into the shifter world blindly. Alenoth is the leader and is being pressured to find a mate and have an heir. Little does he know that his adventures into the human world already has produced his heir. This is a fun, adventurous story. Lots of action, lots of steam and good power struggles to keep the tension high and the story moving.
Meghan Kelley is a wonderful narrator and with this book and it's many characters, she is able to tell this story with ease. Give her a bunch of male shifters, and she gives each a voice easily distinguishable and keeps you engaged while listening. She voices women and her kid voice is spot on! Loved the performance.
I Loved that it was set outside of Toronto. It was a different paranormal than I have read before. I was not sure of the character Aelnoth, he was the alpha of his clan, but sometimes he did not act like the alpha. Suzie wandered into shifter lands knowing that something bad could happen to her, but she did it for her son as she needed answers as Jason was sick. She had only recently found out that he was half shifter. She was a perfect mother and did what she had to do to protect her child. When they met again, they did not recognize each other, and when her secret is revealed. I thought he would have been more forceful but he wasn't. I did enjoy the book and there was suspense in it as well, so I would recommend this author.

This is my second read from author Hollie Hutchins and I have officially become a fan!
I love her writing style and her unique story building. The chemistry between Noth and Susie is electric and loved watching them fight for their happily ever after. And I just have to mention again the great story building. I wish this was a series because I'd love to see other characters get their happily ever afters and would love to see some of the political issues addressed were brought to fruition.
The only thing that hung me up was the cover. There are three men on it but the story is a MF with no menage relationship (spoiler). I was waiting for how this single relationship turned plural but it never did. I mean, the story is perfect the way it is, but I feel the cover is misleading.
Absolutely enjoyed the book and can't wait to read more from Ms. Hutchins!
After a drunken one night stand Susie discovers she’s pregnant but only remembers the tatto on the mans chest. 6yrs later as her son starts showing strange symptoms she takes him to every dr she can to find out what’s wrong with him. When she encounters the right dentist she realizes he’s going to be a shifter like his father. With no idea what to do or how to help him she goes into Undervale to find her sons father knowing that humans who enter are often sold as slaves. Will she find her sons father? Will she be caught? What dangers lie ahead? Will the father want the son? WIll the shifter community accept her son? All these worry Susie as she enters an entirely unknown world.

Could have used better, smoother transitions as the way the dialogue and details were presented was a bit too choppy and disjointed. The plot had solid bones -- the meat of it just needed work. It was difficult to connect to the characters since nothing of their lives was developed. It jumped from a hurried yet passionate encounter that we didn't even read any details about to her having a six year old son. We don't know for sure it's the same woman, and we only know Aelnoth because his name, along with his friend's, was mentioned during Noth's drunken ramblings to himself. So, one and a half stars for the storyline with hopes the writer cleans this boom up - it could be a great one.
A FANTASTIC STORY THAT WILL KEEP YOU ENGAGED! I couldn't put this book down. The story is very well told and unfolds naturally. There is enough drama to hold your focus, but the characters are the biggest draw. Susie is a strong female heroine that is easy to like and root for. Noth is also a decent guy. Normal things happen to them, but getting to even that point is an exercise in bravery for Susie. The only problem that I had was the total abandonment of the family left behind. Like what happens to the best friend and the Nana? They were important at the beginning but forgotten at the end. Aside from that omission, I loved everything about the story, the drama, the other-worldliness, the struggle to make things right and the crazy evil bad guy.
One night one secret. What an interesting story. Hollie has done it again. I began reading this book with the thought that it would just be the same old story line. But I was wrong. This book sucked me in from the very beginning and I had to finish. I was captivated and couldn't wait to find out what and how Susie would find when she went on her adventure to find Jason's father in an unfamiliar land. The suspense was exciting and had me anticipating the battle between Aelnoth and Tylan over Susie. This book was a great read! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. Great story. Good read. Fantastic love story. Different from others I have read. Simple, not technical. Shows great emotion on both ends of the story. Most stories tend to get complicated with back stories. This was not the case. Easy to follow, uncomplicated. Loved it from beginning to end.

One night with a wolf shifter, Aelnoth, changes life of Susie resulting in a wonderful boy Jason with the shifter abilities. Now she is hell bend to find Jason's father with what she remember about his tattoo, but there are lots of complication. How she over comes everything, finds Aelnoth and whether he is accepting the child or not is the remaining story which is well scripted and written in a perfect way.
