Miles Family #3

Reckless Miles

Rate this book
“I love being naked. Naked is awesome.” ~Cooper Miles

Life used to be an endless party. I worked hard and played harder—as often as possible. But things change—people change—and lately the party life isn’t doing it for me.
Enter Amelia. It isn’t every day that you meet a girl in a wedding dress in a bar. A girl whose life just took a sharp left turn she wasn’t expecting.
Kissing her? It’s no big deal—totally just for fun. She’s had one hell of a day, and a little kissing lesson by Cooper is bound to make her feel better. Getting in a little dig at the dumbass who left her at the altar is a bonus.
The invitation back to her hotel? That, I wasn’t expecting.
Saying yes to her is reckless. Not because I’m a stranger to a one-night-stand. And not because she’s in a wedding dress, and the words this is my first time cross her lips.
Saying yes to Amelia is reckless because she’s making me feel things I’ve never felt before—big things. Nothing scares me. But this girl? She might be magic, and I have no idea what to do with that.

**Each book in the Miles Family series ends with a romantic HEA, but there is an ongoing subplot that spans the entire series. Contains explicit language and content.**

Reckless Miles is book three in The Miles Family series by Claire Kingsley. I’ve loved this series from the start but have been especially excited about Cooper’s book. Cooper is the fun brother, the unpredictable brother. The brother that everyone loves because he just radiates happiness but that loves the people closest to him with his whole heart. He loves big and he lives big. The author’s blurb for this book is so spot on it’s hard to think of what else to tell you about this to help you to decide if it’s for you but I’ll try. This book can be easily read as a stand alone although there is a story line that runs through out the series.

man walking in vineyard

Cooper Miles is twenty seven years old. His oldest brother’s child has just been born and his little sister just married his best friend, Chase. Before Chase and his sister were a couple, he was Cooper’s partner in crime so to speak. They would go out together, pick up women together. But without Chase, the fun was gone. He feels like something’s missing from his life for the first time ever. It’s with these thoughts on his mind that he walked into the town bar and saw her sitting there. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen but she had such sadness in her eyes. And she was wearing a wedding dress. When she asked him to kiss her, he didn’t hesitate to comply. When she asked him to come back to her hotel room with her, he couldn’t say no. Not only because she was beautiful and sweet and easy to talk to, but that he couldn’t help but feel like she was special somehow.

Amelia Hale was in a wedding dress she hated, getting ready to walk down the aisle. Only, the man that is supposed to be there waiting for her isn’t. She’s been left at the alter. Humiliated, she runs away from the church and ends up at a nearby bar in her wedding dress. When a very good looking man sits next to her, she decides to do something she’s never done before and invites him back to her hotel room. This is the beginning of Amelia’s Cooper-moon! Since her honeymoon isn’t going to happen, Cooper asks Amelia to stay instead and have a Cooper-moon. He vows to himself to do everything he can to make Amelia happy, to erase her pain.

Best boyfriend ever

Cooper has never even been in a relationship before but he can’t imagine letting Amelia go. He loves spending time with her. So, he convinces her to stay. As time goes on, they become closer. Up to the wedding, Amelia has had little control over her life. Since the wedding that wasn’t, things are happening so fast. Cooper makes her so happy. But is this really where she is supposed to be, or is she just letting Cooper plan her life now?

sweetness

Cooper’s mind and body are always going a mile a minute. But something about Amelia calms him. He feels at peace when she touches him, his mind quiets and he actually sleeps!

Cooper’s evil father is still up to no good in this book and threatening everything the Miles family hold dear to their hearts. Cooper wants nothing more than to protect his family, to protect his mom. He’s gotten himself into a situation that he can’t tell anyone about but he didn’t feel like he had any choice.

I loved every word, every page of this book. I just knew Cooper’s story was going to be amazing, and it was! Amelia was perfect for him. She could speak the Cooper language! They were so good for each other. But was the timing right? I could not put this down. I have to say it again how much I am loving this series. I’m not sure but I am hoping that Leo’s story is going to be next. I don’t think I’m alone in that I can’t wait to get into Leo’s head and see who will win his heart!

Something between 3 and 3,5 stars

*********************************************

There is a very sweet couple in this book. The hero is kind of a man-child, but he is a likable character. He is a crazy adorable guy that is impossible not to love!

The heroine is very sweet, too and she can adjust to his crazy. They are so much in sync. They are fun, they are sweet and they are sexy together.

There is not a burning fire or or killer chemistry between them, theirs is a light kind of passion, an easy and simple love story but it is convincing enough. I believed in their compatibility and in their feelings.

*********************************************

I loved reading about Cooper and Amelia's story but their love story, if I cut and paste it on a blank document, is around 100 pages, I don’t know, maybe a bit more or a bit less.

The book is, on the other hand, 308 pages!

So what does that mean?

It obviously means there is too much filler stuff in the book other than the romance.
Too many people.
Too much other stuff going on involving other people.
Too many scenes of daily mundane tasks.
Too much repetition.

Also a suspense-like plot that starts in Book 1 still continues in Book 3 and it seems to be solved only in the last book and it is not a bit of interesting and reading about it in the background all the time was wearisome for me.

So what did I do?

I read the pages where my couple appeared and skipped the filler stuff or just scanned those pages to be able to understand what’s going on.

So what happens in the story fillers?

Someone falls and gets injured, someone gives birth to a child, newly met siblings get closer to one another, mum cooks for the family, mum and dad still try to divorce, blah bla bla. Oh and there are more scenes with the brother who has PTSD so that we get interested and read the next book, which is his.

*********************************************

I HATE story fillers. They ruin a potentially good book.

What is a story filler? How does it help your writing or how does it ruin it?

This is what I teach my students in my writing class when they are trying to write a story.

A story filler is unnecessary text that is used to move the plot forward. It can be a sentence, a paragraph, or a page. In longer pieces of writing such as a novel, it can be as long as a few pages, a whole chapter or even a few chapters. Most often, if you take out that piece of writing, the story would not lose continuity and the reader wouldn’t be confused.

Story fillers are acceptable if they are used to reinforce feelings or facts, or if they are used as a transition, which means they are there for a useful purpose. Fillers can sometimes be essential to the story's thematic message.

If removing "a filler" makes the story flow better and if it will hold the reader's interest better, then, it should be removed. However, if cutting a scene may leave a hole in the story in which the reader will no longer be able to understand why something happens or will feel the characters' actions are no longer justified, then, they are purposeful fillers and should stay.

By the end, it should feel that every part of your story is essential to the reader's complete appreciation of its meaning.

When you use too much story filler just because you have completed your main story in a haste, then your prose can become tiresome and dull.

Too much filler can easily weigh a story down. It will feel flat and it will drag. The reader will think that the story is going nowhere.

description

The worst mistake a writer can make is to insert into their book stuff that will make the reader turn the page and look for something that matters. That reader will soon lose their interest in the book!

The answer is to adjust the dose – the balance of it. Your story filler(s) should not outweigh the main story.

The art of writing is in making every word count. Good writers do not write fillers. Just the opposite; they trim out anything that does not add to the story.

*********************************************

*********************************************

In this book “Reckless Miles”, there is a very sweet romance between the adorable characters, Cooper and Amelia.

I needed that romance to be the main focus. It didn’t have to happen so smoothly and easily. It didn’t have to happen so fast.

But it did.

And I guess, then the writer got stuck with no ideas about how to move their romance forward as it was an already done deal after 100 pages in total.

So she filled it with lots of other stuff involving lots of other people.

All that overdose of story fillers bothered me because it interrupted the flow of the main story. If they didn’t outweigh my sweet romantic comedy, this book would be 4 stars for me but because it bored me with lots and lots of story fillers, 3 stars it is.

I read 2 books in this series (Book 2 and Book 3) and although I have read 5-star worthy books from this writer, I now clearly see that the books in this series of hers are not my cuppa, so I am quitting the series here.

P.S. For those who are interested in this book, I can say that it is totally safe but the hero is a reformed man-wh*re and the heroine is a virgin.

”We’ll be in our nineties with white hair and wrinkles and I’ll still kiss you and grab your ass and tell you you’re hot and love the shit out of you every single day.” swooning ❤️

Takes place in Echo Creek, a small town in the Cascade Mountains, where the Miles family owns a winery called Salishan Cellars.

Characters
Cooper (27, in charge of the vineyard at the family winery): He is full of life and loves a challenge. He is fun, always moving and talking and he's impulsive. He loves the land and working in the fields and he takes care of the vineyard like its his baby. Now that his side-kick and partner in crime (Chase) has found true love (and married his sister in Book #2) he's feeling a bit lost and reexamining some aspects of his life.
"I really don’t know what’s going on with me lately. I had a perfect life, you know? Everything was great. And now it’s all messed up and the reasons why make me think I must be a much bigger asshole than I previously would have thought.”

First impression of Cooper: I was introduced to Cooper in book 1 and I don't think I can even adequately convey how much I love this brother!!

Amelia (22, recent college graduate, but would love to do something with horses): she lacks some confidence, but that's mostly due to her mother never offering her encouragement. Besides her best friend, no one seems to be in her corner. She's a good girl who follows the rules and tries to do whatever her mom wants as she's constantly seeking her mothers approval. She tends to babble when she's nervous or upset (which is absolutely adorable and just makes you fall in love with her). She has a kind soul.

First impression of Amelia: she seems sweet and down to earth, but it also seems like people walk all over her. She was jilted on her wedding day (her groom ran off with her cousin and then married her cousin in Vegas the same day 😳) and although he wasn't the right guy for her anyway, it was still humiliating and a blow to her self esteem. And her mom....what a piece of work. She didn't win any points for body-shaming Amelia. Who cares if she has a few extra curves.

The Story
As Amelia sits at a bar in her wedding dress, pondering her life over a glass of water (see....a good girl 😉) she meets Cooper, who is also pondering his life. And as they talk, Amelia asks a question that will be the catalyst for all things to come....
"Do you like kissing?"
“Yes. I do like kissing just for the sake of kissing. I really like it when it’s leading somewhere else, because let’s be honest, I’m a guy, and guys always get excited if we get to take our pants off. But yeah, kissing feels good. I like it.”

And....Cooper continues to explain why they need to kiss:
1. I’m an awesome kisser, so if there’s a problem, we’ll know it isn’t me.
2. I have a feeling you’re actually a great kisser and you just don’t realize it.
3. You look sad, and I don’t like it when you’re sad, even though we just met
4. kissing makes me happy, so I bet it will make you happy, too.
5. All this talk about kissing is making me watch your mouth while you talk, so now I really want to know what you taste like.”

Oh Cooper. He just says it like it is. 👍 Don't you just love him? (if you don't, go read book 1 😉)

From the very beginning these two had off the charts chemistry. They are extremely comfortable around each other and have the same tendency to ramble. They get each other, no explanations needed.
"Brynn leaned close to Chase. “Oh my god, I think she speaks Cooper."

They had so much fun together during Amelia's Cooper-moon.
"Okay, I’ll stay. Instead of a honeymoon, I’ll have a Cooper-moon.”
"Yes!” he said, his eyes widening. “That’s exactly it. Fuck yes, I knew this was a good idea. Holy shit, Cookie, we’re going to have so much fun. Your Cooper-moon is going to be the best.”

They had soap bubble fights, went horseback riding and river rafting, they went skinny dipping and had picnics, they dressed up Cooper’s 🍆 with dick costumes 😂; and they went paint balling.
"I turned at the sound of Cooper’s voice and nearly dropped the paintball gun. He was wearing my wedding dress."
“See you out there,” Cooper said and jogged away, the dress swishing around his legs."
😂😂

In the midst of all their fun, they did have some things to sort out. Amelia was trying to figure out what to do with her life while facing pressure from her parents to follow a different path (screw them and their quest to maintain a certain social status 😠). Cooper was wrapped up in a major dilemma involving his a$$hole father. So they both were dealing with difficult, selfish parents.

Overall
I really loved Cooper and Amelia's story. Cooper can be a handful and Amelia was the perfect person for him and the one person that could actually bring some calm to Cooper's whirlwind.
"She calmed my shit down. She was my peace, and I loved that about her."

The pace of the story was good and there were other family aspects that brought depth to the story. As with the other books, the entire Miles family is upfront and center in this story and you continue to bond with them. And, because this is Cooper's book...that means there are lots of childish (yes) but fun moments. Cooper is a big kid and he loves his fun, which means you will either appreciate him or roll your eyes and think he is immature. In my case, I have a kid like Cooper (impulsive, high energy, talks non-stop and loved by all) so it was easy for me to love this character.

This continues to be a great series that I'm thoroughly enjoying. Up next.....the tortured hero, Leo.

- Do you need to read previous books in series?: I would say yes. At this point there is some overarching family drama that is present in each book. Plus, the foundation of each character in the Miles family was really established in Book 1, so I think it would add to the story to have all that background.
- POV: told from dual POV
- H likable? Yes! So far my favorite brother 😍
- h likable? Yes!
- h virgin? Yes
- First time they kiss: 13%
- First time they sleep together: 19%
- OW/OM drama? No
- H/h cheat? No
- Steamy? Yes
- Did I skip pages? No
- How the book made me feel: this is a pretty upbeat book
- Big secrets? sort of. Cooper makes a deal with his dad and doesn't tell anyone. The other family members start to find out around the 65-70% mark.
- Did I cry? No
- Cliffhanger? Sort of. The issue with the father was left hanging. It will be resolved in upcoming books.
- How it ends:
- Recommend? Yes.

Quotes
"Pregnant women needed a fuck ton of pillows. Maybe that’s why girls love to have all those decorative pillows on their beds—it’s like pre-pregnancy nesting."

"I’m just now thinking about the fact that all I made was steak, and I think girls usually like a side dish or some shit. Mom would be so disappointed in me. Don’t tell her I didn’t make you a side dish, okay?”

"I hadn’t slut-shamed them, so why did they think they could virgin-shame me?

“My best friend married my little sister a few weeks ago. And I think I’m jealous.”

"The kid… well, he looks like a newborn, so that means he’s that cute-ugly that everyone says is adorable. I guess because you’re supposed to think babies are adorable, even when they have warped heads and wrinkled faces.”

“I’m pretty sure babies don’t get cute for at least a couple of months, but everyone freaks out when you say they look like a Shar-Pei with no teeth.”

What can I say, my brain moves fast. If people can’t keep up, that isn’t my fault.”

"It’s fine, you don’t need to gush about how great I am, I already know. But I am getting the very disturbing impression that you don’t realize how great you are."

”I think that’s what love is,” he said after a moment. “It’s wanting the other person to be happy, no matter what it costs you.”

“Another dick costume? Oh my god, Cookie!”
"Yes! Do you see what it is? A farmer!” Her voice got all high-pitched and squealy. “Holy shit. I’m a farmer.”
She wiggled against me. “That’s why it’s so perfect. I saw this one and obviously had to order it.”
"I love it. My dick is going to look fucking adorable in this.”

I first read about Cooper in the first book, Broken Miles. He and his best friend Chase were absolutely crazy together. Somehow, someway I jumped from mediocre book one to this. Hysterical.

Cooper is an ADD, sweet, loving, madcap idiot. He meets Amelia in a weak moment for both, and they start an affair. He's the kind of character that you will either love or will drive you crazy with his banter and lunacy.

Amelia's crush, now fiancee, has left her at the altar and she's a sweet little virgin in need of solace. Cooper's craziness and sweetness are just the ticket. This is a guy who swoops in to pick up his newborn nephew before his own mother, and he extends his care to Amelia.

The side story of the Miles family idiot father heats up as well. I need to go back and read Brynn's romance with Chase as he is too good of a character.

Here is a little of his and Cooper's banter just after Cooper has been dumped by Amelia.

I was pretty sure I was going to die. I staggered toward the couch but didn’t make it that far. Clutching my chest, I collapsed onto the ground.

“Cooper!” Mom was at my side in an instant. She knelt beside me and touched my forehead. “Cooper, what happened? Are you hurt?”

“I think I’m dying.” It felt like my heart had stopped beating. I couldn’t have much time left. “I’m sorry, Mom. I’m the one who broke Grandma’s tea pot. The one with the blue flowers on it. I let Leo take the blame, but you should know the truth before I go.”

“I knew it was you,” Leo said.

*********

“Do you need CPR?” Chase asked. “I’ll do it if I have to, but it’s going to make your sister really jealous and probably make the rest of your family wonder if the gay rumors are true.”

Leo, the damaged brother is next, and yay! Plus, hopefully, the bad dad will get a comeuppance.

The hero in this is a reformed manwhore and the heroine a innocent virgin, left at the alter by the guy she's always crushed on. The two meet in a bar and that's when the fun begins.

Copper Miles is certainly an entertaining goofball in this, a bit of a man-child he and the heroine Amelia gel well.

Overall a nice read with some good moments of humour, although there were moments such as the Some unnecessary descriptions and the drama with Cooper's ass of a dad needed more oomph.

ME GUSTÓ MUCHO 🤩🤩

I liked the other books but I am really really really really really x 100000000 not into the whole manwhore/virgin trope. I feel it perpetuates the notion women cant like sex but men can, so I am super sorry but I cant support books who do this anymore as my own personal stand against it. It's the same as second chance that have the heorine celibate for years while the man gets to stick it wherever he wants.

If you're reading this review to decide if you should buy this book. Yes. If you haven't read Book 1 & 2, buy those too. You know why? They each contain: Cooper Miles. Ok ok, there's more:

Each book is romantic, heartwarming and has just enough going on to keep you riveted without making you want to throw your Kindle. But this book? THIS BOOK? It will literally make you LOL, you will tear up (happy tears) and swoon like a historical romance heroine.

There's no cheating, no violence, nothing gross. MF (only) sexual content that's sweet but also oh so hot. Did I mention this book has all. The. Cooper? All. Seriously grab and enjoy the third Miles Family HEA you will NOT regret it.

Cooper! Mattress burning, skirt chasing, Bryncess loving, bromance having Cooper! Cooper loves his family, his loves the winery, and he loves women. So many women. It’s not that Cooper doesn’t respect women or value them, he just hasn’t found the woman who makes him want to commit. He’s not afraid of commitment. He knows how to commit. He’s committed to his family, friends, and the winery. And while Cooper is often impulsive, but he is also insightful and devoted. Cooper sees the world differently, and some people don’t understand that. He’s just waiting for the right person to come along who understands him.

Enter Amelia. She’s getting married at Salishan Cellars. Or she was supposed to be. Her fiance, a friend of the family, has left her at the alter, and even her family isn’t being supportive. Amelia just needs time to figure it all out. She decides to stay at Salishan Cellars. Amelia is an easy going, down to earth woman. She doesn’t really fit in with her family who is upper class and expects her to “keep up appearances”. Amelia meets Cooper. She understands Cooper. She speaks Cooper. Amelia begins to settle into life at Salishan, including a relationship with Cooper.

Cooper and Amelia both have their own issues they must overcome, and the author creates depths to these characters by having them face problems that are realistic and relatable. For example, Amelia’s self-esteem issues. Amelia has an ongoing battle with Spanx. (I hope she burns them with Cooper’s mattress!) Despite any issues, their chemistry is scorching hot. SMOKING. Like offer a cigarette to your neighbors after sex kinda hot.

This type of book is why I love to read romance. It brings forth all the feels, and for a little while you get to be part of something so very magical. Of course there is a happy ending, and we get to see our favorite Miles' family members from previous books. What more could you need? I can't recommend this series enough. I love all the Miles family and can't wait for Leo's book.

So reading this book has been like stepping on a rollercoaster and going for a wild ride. Indeed, our young rascal and hurricane has finally found his match. Cooper is unique but once his best friend has married his sister and his brother and wife have become parents, he knows that nothing will be the same again. So what happens? Amelia actually happens next. She’s the “unlucky” girl who has been abandoned on the altar by her future husband. Her only concern is to leave the already meaningless ceremony and consequential embarrassment in order to overcome her grief. But when she ends up in a bar, drinking water (seriously who drinks water nowadays in a bar) and stumbles into Cooper, it means that she has just put an end to her ordinary life. As a matter of fact Cooper will completely bulldoze her, shaking up what’s left of her and giving her a new means but mostly finally gifting her with pure and unpretentious love. This story gives off a lot of positive vibes because Cooper is mainly a joker but with profound feelings for his family and for this wonderful girl who has never been given the time of a day. Amelia, on the other hand, thanks to her encounter with Cooper, gets her second chance in life. She has always thought that her cheating ex fiancé was the one because her life had been organized in slightest details by those who actually were selfish. Cooper instead, gave her undivided attention and liberty to do as she liked and this is what actually love is all about. A wonderful read with a series of events that will leave the reader pleasantly giddy.

4.5 Reckless Stars!

AHHHHHHHHHHH COOPER!!! If there has ever been a golden retriever book boyfriend, it's Cooper.

This book was adorable, sweet, sexy, fun and heartwarming all at the same time. This one follows Cooper, who never ever wants to settle down until he meets a beautiful woman at bar, who happens to be chilling in a wedding dress. Amelia was left at the alter by a man who ran off with her cousin. Although their relationship wasn't usual, she still felt broken. Then she meets Cooper at the bar and decides to spend one night with him.

One night turns in to a Cooper-moon, but then feelings get involved. But can Cooper grow up and be ready for someone, and can Amelia realize where her new home is with Cooper?

This had me laughing, Amelia was a female Cooper and Cooper is so funny. I literally couldn't put this book down. This book is the perfect palate cleanser, feel good family book with a little bit of spice.

cute, fun, steamy book! Highly recommend!

Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 3.5-4 stars

Reckless Miles was a great romcom! It had me laughing out loud plenty of times as playboy Cooper Miles finally finds love. The premise was a fun one, featuring jilted bride, Amelia, and an interesting meet cute. She was a great complement to Cooper and I loved that she "spoke Cooper". Her character grew through the course of the book and I appreciated that she took the time to determine what she wanted and not what fell in her lap or what others wanted for her. These two were really sweet and sexy together and though I'm not normally a fan of the virgin trope or instalove, this one worked pretty well. Committed boyfriend Cooper was a sight to see and I loved that he did it in a way that only Cooper could.

Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum were fantastic as Cooper and Amelia and I loved the cameo by John Lane as Ben. They all gave such emotional performances, but they also had perfect comedic timing. Stephen Dexter was especially amazing and showed his versatility voicing both male and female characters with ease.

Fans of the series also get more updates on the other Miles family members as well as some drama thanks to papa Miles. There isn't a whole lot of angst in this one (a little OW drama and a brief push away) and I liked that the conflict was more internal. The time jump in the epilogue was a surprise, as was the POV of the bonus epilogue, but it only has me more excited to see what's next for Leo, Shannon, and Ben. This is book 3 in the Miles family series and can be read/listened to as a standalone, but it would be much more enjoyable if read in order.

Loved Cooper and his Cookie!

Omg, I loved Cooper in the previous books but I ADORED him in Reckless Miles. That goofy, quirky playboy has a softer side that just melted me. He and Amelia were perfection together--she was exactly who he needed. I'm loving seeing the whole cast of characters as we move through the series and I especially love the relationships they all have with Ben. His story is gonna be something else! Cooper has been my favorite so far but I know Leo is going to destroy me! This is not a series that can be read out of order because there is an ongoing backstory throughout it.

The narration was PERFECTION! The narrators made an amazing story even better. Fantastic voice acting!

Okay, this was so immature, childish and embarrassing. I felt sooo uncomfortable just reading it (they are dressing and nicknaming his d***?! What?!). As if you are following two teenagers fooling around 🫣😵

From previous books we have learned that he is a hyperactive, family loving, farming genius, man whore… to put it nicely! The ladies love Cooper and Cooper loves the ladies.
He’s always been honest and up front about his loving ways and we have all enjoyed his company in the past books. All-around he is a genuinely nice person who only wants to make the best out of every moment and keep those around him happy.
So when Cooper sits next to Amelia, a “jilted at the altar” bride, at a bar it is not surprising that Cooper naturally just wants to make her smile and turn her bad day around…
Amelia… Sweet, innocent, awkward, pushover Amelia…

Recently graduated from college, newly engaged to her childhood crush (who up until he proposed a few months prior… had ONLY just been her childhood friend). When we get to her she suddenly finds herself in a wedding dress of her nightmares minutes away from walking down the aisle…

Only to find out right as she is standing at the back of the aisle… her fiancé isn’t waiting for her… No… he has run off…

With her cousin… who happens to be a bridesmaid…

And she’s live tweeting their elopement in Vegas for the whole world to see…

What’s a girl to do?
RUN!!!

She finds herself in a bar down the road, still in her wedding dress sitting next to possibly the most charming man in all of Echo Creek… What does she have to lose, right?

Their connection, their awkwardness, and both of their inability to stop the verbal vomit spewing from their mouths make for a perfectly sweet connection from the start.

Instead of going on her honeymoon or returning to her parent’s home to deal with her mother’s scorn, Amelia takes Cooper up on his offer to stay in Echo Creek and have a “Cooper-Moon” in place of her failed Honeymoon
My Thoughts:

*personal note* My best friend from my childhood is extremely ADHD. She has been since we were little girls. If you’ve never been around someone who truly has ADHD, and/or have never been around them when they are off of their medication Cooper’s character may seem a little too “EXTRA.”

Since I have had the immense pleasure of growing up with my ADHD riddled friend. Following Cooper’s thoughts and crazy plans felt really nostalgic of my younger days. We never sat still when we were together, and through the rough patches of childhood – I saw firsthand how differently she processed adversity than I did.

I loved this book. I found myself reading it quicker than I usually would when I was reading from Cooper’s point of view than Amelia’s. I felt such a connection to both of them and found their story very endearing. Not just anyone can have such a true and understanding relationship with someone who has ADHD.

Also, getting to know the Miles family on a deeper level made my heart very happy. They’re complex and in each other’s business like crazy but they all mean well.

This was a light-hearted read for me, especially after reading a more suspenseful novel right before it. I laughed out loud, I had the sweet “Awww” moments where I thought my heart was melting, and I had the moments where my heart broke a little when times were tough. Were the characters 100% realistic – No, absolutely not! But I believe that’s why they are so charming.

I didn’t have to think too hard while reading it, and while I don’t believe some actions taken by the characters in “real life” would have necessarily happened the way they did in the book, it still MADE ME FEEL GOOD.

It’s like one of my “go-to” Hallmark/Lifetime Channel holiday romance movies I love so much! It was perfect all of my “romance markers” which I desperately look for. If you’re not a person who loves those kinds of movies – this may not be a read that you particularly appreciate because at moments it can be a bit over the top. Claire Kingsley is such an amazing writer who has an amazing ability to show such depth to her characters and I am immensely enjoying this series!

I had high hopes for this, I really did but then suddenly when I thought it was all fine and dandy after reading ¼ through on, it started to spiral downwards… fast. The whole instant love (instant boyfriend, instant everything), I need you to meet my family so we can have babies wasn't doing it for me. Don't get me wrong I love the beginning stages of Cooper and Amelia relationship and could easily see why they mash so well together but if anyone knows me, instant love can kill any book for me and it killed it this hard for me. It's a shame because my expectations were so high and I was left utterly disappointed because I love love love "Broken Miles". I guess you can't win them all.

I've been waiting to read Cooper Miles' story since I was first introduced to him. I knew he would be a riot and his ride would be one thrill after another.
And a girl in a wedding dress at a bar?
Well, that's bound to be an interesting time.

Cooper does not and will not disappoint. He's the Miles you want to get to know. He's the one who will make you smile. He's gonna melt your heart. And you're going to love him more at the end of this story than you ever thought possible.

Doesn’t let you down

I’ve been impatiently waiting for this book since I first met Cooper in Broken Miles. I was kinda nervous that it wouldn’t live up to the hype but Claire didn’t let me down. This was everything I was hoping for and loved getting to see more sides to Cooper. Amelia is a perfect companion for Cooper and can keep up with his type of crazy. If you love romantic comedies then this book is for you!

Cooper is melodramatic on a good day, and you can't help loving him. For example, Chase "Speakers Cooper," 😂😂 but he's not Gay for him. 🤣

So I’ve read 3 of the miles family, and I was so looking forward to Cooper, he is boisterous, witty, charming, but deep and so loving! And Amelia was just the right girl for him! Thanks to Claire Kingsley and her wonderful writing she brings these character to life, with perfect sexy spice and fabulous stories…..on to Leo’s book now, and I can’t wait for Ben and Shannon’s story! I haven’t read a bad book yet from Claire, quickly moving up my list of favorite authors

Hilarious Moment Ch 19 (Between Leo and Cooper)
Can I stay and work out with you? I totally need to get my fitness on.”
“If I let you stay, are you going to talk the entire time, or will you just let me work out?”
“Do what you gotta do, bro. Just tell me to shut up if I get too chatty.”
“Shut up.” (Leo)
I closed my mouth and put my hands up in a gesture of surrender. I could be quiet if I needed to be.
Leo went over to the bench press and put a forty-five on the bar. I started unfastening my jeans.
“Dude,” he said. “What are you doing?”
“I can’t work out in jeans.”
“So you’re just going to take them off?” (Leo)
I glanced around the room, wondering what he was talking about. What else did he expect me to do? “Yeah.”
“Did you bring something else to wear?” (Leo)
“Do I look like I’m carrying a gym bag?”
“Jesus, Cooper.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 (Leo)

"Because I'm a slut!" Cooper 😅

I’m not quite sure what to do with myself now that I’ve got Cooper’s story in my hands and finished it in one morning. I feel like I’ve waited forever for him to tell me his story and just like that, it’s over. However, I will say this….Cooper was SO worth the wait.

Claire Kingsley has given us a story of two people who just fit together like no other couple I’ve read. Cooper and Amelia balance each other out, they make each other feel things like never before, like everything is pure magic.

I laughed, I cried and most of all, I smiled. I enjoyed everything about the relationship between Cooper and Amelia from the moment they met to the battles they needed to face, together and on their own and the ending which was just so refreshing and unique to see! I loved it. I enjoyed every single moment of Cooper and Amelia’s journey and cannot wait to see where Claire takes us next!

5 stars!

I’ve been eagerly anticipating Cooper’s story since the beginning of this series and I loved it so much. Cooper has such big, bold personality. He is the the life the party but will give the shirt off his back to every single member of his family.

Amelia has such a strong personality. She was the perfect match for Cooper. I loved her sass and how easily she kept which Cooper. Their chemistry was instant from the beginning and I fell for them immediately.

I can’t get enough of this series, the setting on vineyard and winery, the family drama, the laugh out loud antics and the wonderful characters.

Cooper’s story was so worth the wait and I cannot wait to learn more about mysterious Leo next.

“And when Amelia opened the door of the cottage, her hazel eyes as bright as her smile, I knew everything was going to be okay. Because with my Cookie at my side, I could do anything. Face anything. She was my calm. My peace. My love. And there was nothing in the world that was better than that.”

Oh My Stars...Cooper!

I have said "I love Cooper," "I SO love Cooper," and/or "I can't possibly love Cooper more" all through this book.

Cooper Miles is funny, sweet, loyal, protective. He's also a little...no, a lot...hyper. He talked almost as much and as fast as he moved. (As I read, I wondered if he had ADHD...but that's neither here not there.)

Amelia Hale was at Salishan Cellars Winery for a wedding... her own. But she got left at the altar, so to speak (she never made it to the actual altar), when her D-bag fiance not only did not show up to the wedding, but slept with one of the bridesmaids--who happened to he the bride's cousin--and ran off to Vegas with her to elope.

As Amelia sat in her wedding dress in a local bar, she meets Cooper (who was feeling some kind of way with all the new changes going on around him). Their banter leads to a kiss, which leads to what was supposed to be a one-night-stand... but it turned into more than either of then bargained for.

In the midst of Cooper dealing with the realization that he just may be falling in love for the first time ever, Lawrence Miles rears his his ugly head with a promise to go through with the divorce if Cooper would help him with a little project. Amelia's parents turn out to be as bad as Chase's, trying to get her to take back her cheating jerk ex for their own benefit. (Wondering WTF is wrong with her parents? Me, too.)

There is a lot that happens in this book!

But my favorite was watching Cooper fall in love. It was everything! My emotions were all over the place. It was awesome.

There are still some loose ends to tie up, and I'm very interested in seeing ow Leo's love story plays out.
