At first, I didn’t expect much from this book, but I like authors who write things like that:

“Jung... I think the collective unconscious idea interesting. It's an interesting way to connect with God,” she says.
“I prefer to stay connected with the universe.”
She smiles.
“What do you know about collective unconscious?” he asks.
“They’re deep feelings of universal dimensions. There is a strong connection between physics and psychology.”
(…)
“They’re traces of connections to something larger.”
(…)
“Maybe, it’s the sum of all consciousness.”
“God?”
“I don’t know… God, universe, creator, supreme consciousness.”
“In other words, we’re small parts of a god? Like atoms and molecules. Or...one big universe full of consciousness; creators and creatures, each on a different level of evolution-”
“On the way to light, on the way to love,” she says.

And:

“There is no other love. There will never be a new love. Love is nobler than a passion; we can have many passions, not love. I'm never gonna want another woman. What I feel for her is now part of my life,” a pause, “I don't wanna wake up in the middle of the night next to a woman, and realize that I'm not next to Julia.”

This novella could be classified as a melodrama made for TV or even for movies. However, the complex relationship between the protagonists leads us to other thoughts.

Do you want to feel such a deep and strong feeling like love?! Or you don’t believe that love exists? Then read Julia by Heider Broisler. Here you can enjoy the story of two people, between whom this “bright” feeling arose. Robert and Julia are the main characters of the novel. I really liked how the author describes the characters in details, there was a feeling that I saw them in front of me, I can’t forget to mention a good author's style, thanks to which I experienced the emotions of the characters and empathized with them. So many events that I could not stop reading, because with every page my interest increased.
An interesting, exciting and instructive book that will impress everyone and give a variety of emotions: both funny and a little sad. I advise everyone to get the book and live the whole story with the characters.

“It’s all connected: the Orient influences western philosophy.”

Brazilian author Heider Broisler earned his degrees in Business Administration and Law School. Heider owns Incorpar Ltda - a real estate development consulting firm. He is also a composer (the album "Transcend" for the independent band "Virtual Humans"), and has written movie scripts. In addition to this short novella written in English, he has published "A Urna Diabólica" (The Devilish Urn) - a novel in Portuguese.

Heider is concerned with polarity – that mid-ground of emotion between happiness and suffering. He is also informed and writes well about sleep disorders and opens is novella with a situation that introduce that aspect of his story well: ’ February 14, 2001. There is absolute silence in the hall of the Sleep Disorders Institute. The clock on the wall shows 3:30 a.m. February 10, 2011. Robert Miller and Sylvia are in his psychiatric clinic. The place is cozy: a table next to the window. In the center of the room are two chairs, one in front of the other, and in the corner a small sofa. Robert is a middle-aged man with black and gray hair. Sylvia is tall and thin with black hair; she is thirty-six years old. They are sitting on the chairs, facing each other. “I don't believe anything else,” Sylvia says. “Relax,” Robert says. “It must be nice to be a psychiatrist.” “Why?” “You don't fall into traps.” “No one is immune darling.” “Hmm, maybe...” Sylvia says. She continues: “I don't believe in love anymore. All I see is indifference, vanity, pride-” “Never underestimate love, that's what makes the difference,” he says. Beethoven’s Piano Sonata (#14, 1st movement) begins in his mind. He gets up, walks toward the window and opens the curtains. The sun brightens the room. The light reflects the color of his eyes. She admires his face. “Do you have time? Wanna talk some more?” he says. “Sure!” “Some doors probably shouldn't ever be open,” he says, walking to the chair and sitting back down. “No one knows where the mysteries of life can take us.”

Though brief the story is complex – ‘? Robert was skeptical of love, but everything changes when he meets Julia. She is enigmatic. He is expressive. The love between them emerges quickly, but something unimaginable happens: Julia is diagnosed with a strange illness that prevents her from sleeping. Robert's love relieves her pain. In the last moments of her life, the warmth of his body is the last refuge for her to ease the effects of exhaustion and inability to sleep. Such an experience changes Robert's mind about love. He will never be the same again.’

Poetic and influenced by Heider’s obvious love for music, JULIA is a profound little novella that only makes us hope that there will be further novels to follow. Heider Broisler is an artist to watch.

Julia by Heider Broisler is a short little novella that explores the concept of love in all of its permutations. The novella focuses on sleep disorders along with a love that develops simply between the two main characters. Robert is the lead character and is quite skeptical of love, that is until he meets Julia. She has a rare condition in which she has seemingly permanent insomnia. Robert becomes her refuge from the constant agony that this condition inflicts. This is a beautiful and touching tribute to love that is first and foremost caring and tender. The author has a lovely way with words, poetic and with deep meaning. While short, this novella is a must read for anyone looking for a more emotionally engaging read. Highly recommend.

I don't usually read novellas, but I liked "Julia." The plot is centered on the couple (Robert and Julia), great dialogues, good scenes with allusions to interesting sub themes. The center of history is the "duality" between love and suffering. The romantic scenes are touching and delicate.

A rare condition of love

Julia is the story of Julia and Robert. Julia suffers from an inability to sleep and suffers serious effects from this severe insomnia while Robert is a man who has no faith in love or the intamacy of this emotional experience. When Robert meets Julia, his world begins to change. Robert begins to open to the experience of this passionate love that he begins to feel for Julia while she is falling for Robert as well. These characters are well developed and very relatable to almost anyone. I found this story to be a short but emotional journey that pulled me into the events and had me pulling for Julia and her happiness. I would recommend this short easy read to anyone who is looking for a good story with great characters. Check this one out and let me know if you agree.

Terrible disease! I didn’t know insomnia can kill. It's sad because they were a great couple - an unimaginable love. It's a good book; a simple narrative with great dialogues and good scenes. I liked the poems too.

The ending is very touching. The plot could be more comprehensive, but it is a good novella.
