Surprisingly engaging for a footie comic from 1970. Contrary to expectations, it's not all about various way Billy loses and retrieves his boots each week, it's 30-40% at most - mostly it's drama with schoolmates, fellow players, coaches, headmasters, and grandma. All of those characters are one-dimensional paper cutouts, and a few still manage to be inconsistent, but it's still great fun and extremely silly nowadays (special mentions to the storyline of Billy getting so concussed he forgets his name, and basically just being told to walk it off with nobody at all caring). Also, great lettering, with fun choices like coloured balloons
