Pursued at every port of call by the Trade Corporation, the Dark Horizon has been abandoned, and the Freedom Collective forced underground. With few safe havens left to hide in, it's only a matter of time before the Galactic Core finds them, ending their lives and freedom in the galaxy.
When Axel's uncle, Henry, is discovered alive after being missing for over five Earth years, hope is found. His knowledge of Stardrives could save them all. But Henry is locked inside the walls of the Fatal Fortress, a Borbian prison from which no one has escaped.
Axel gathers a crew to do the impossible: retrieve his uncle from the clutches of the Borbs who'll lock up anyone for the right price. Armed with the specifications of the prison and a ragtag team, including Ellie and Shiznit, Axel will do anything to free his uncle and win freedom for everyone.
But the price of freedom is higher than Axel ever imagined. To succeed, he'll have to do the one thing he never wanted--reunite with his estranged older brother, Kendrick.
Although working as a baker for many years, writing has been a passion for Chris for some time, starting in high school and reigniting again in 2006, when he first got the inspiration to begin writing 'The Man In Black.' After completing that project eight years later, he took part in NaNoWriMo in November 2014, culminating into a project named 5PM. Deciding to self-publish, 5PM came out in February 2015, and then The Man In Black in August. 2016 saw the release of 7PM, and in that same year, his writing path met with that of Canadian author Kate Reedwood. A mutual respect of each other's work ignited an interest in working together, creating the Legacy Hunter series, the first of which to come out in July 2017. Apart from writing, Chris enjoys travelling, reading, watching movies and all things geeky. He resides in Coffs Harbour with his wife and three children. Chris will be at Nexus Con on July 29 celebrating the release of the first book in his Legacy Hunter series.
The saga continues in Fatal Fortress book four of the Legacy Hunter Series. I want to say so much but I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I will just continue on by saying that this series just keeps getting better and better with each new story that comes out.
The story itself is fast paced and full of action and suspense. One moment you are cheering the next you are holding your breath wondering if all is doomed for Axel and crew. The uniqueness of the plot and how it affects the characters are completely unexpected. Trust me your jaw will drop at what happens within this book. I’m still amazed at the ending. It often makes me wonder if the human race will get to adopt such things in the future. The imagination of these authors is limitless and I can’t wait for the next installment!
At long last we get to meet Uncle Henry! Axel, Ellie, Shiznit, and the gang are back with all their friends (and enemies), and this time they are trying to rescue Uncle Henry, previously presumed to be dead, from Fatal Fortress, a prison from which no one has ever escaped.
The story starts out a little slower than previous books, as the group puts together a plan for the rescue, but soon enough the action takes off and doesn't stop until the end. We get to see some of the relationships get a little more complicated with this instalment, and things are starting to get very interesting. With new characters, new species, and new locations to visit, you won't be bored.
Once again, I was unable to put this book down once I started, and finished it in one sitting. What a fantastic read!
The writing style of Chris and Kate is truly amazing and evident yet again in this next installment of the Legacy Hunter series. Fast paced, gripping! They have created a world that makes you want to believe that so much is possible for the human race. Axel, Ellie, Shiznit and the rest of their rag tag crew rocket off to try to rescue Axel’s Uncle and Iris Crane in a Sci-fi Prison Break thrill ride all while half of the galaxy is in pursuit of them! This book has some surprises, so hang on tight! A raw emotional portrayal of family dynamics hits a home run and I need more of this series! 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend this series!
