A Dark Taboo Tale.

Turnabout is fair play.

Tavi Mirza has been operating under that principle for a few months now, but both he and his brother Rex are keenly aware they can’t avoid the consequences of their actions forever. Sooner or later, the facade will crumble, and when someone ultimately finds out their secret, Tavi’s life will be over. The fates have converged to ensure that the twins don’t remain untouched by its claws, and they must determine where their true loves and loyalties lay.

Can Tavi and Rex protect each other? Or will they allow the past to dictate the future instead of moving forward together?

###

*This is NOT a standalone and should be read after Want (The Need Trilogy #1) and Take (The Need Trilogy #2). This dark taboo tale contains several kinks that may offend or trigger some readers, including (but not limited to) age play, ABDL, spanking, and humiliation. Not every dynamic or element is 100% consensual.

Though The Need Trilogy is set in The Fate of the Fallen world, the trilogy can be read separately from the series and other books. The main characters do not (yet) appear in the FotF/SQ books, and there are minimal spoilers for the series or other books set in the universe.

About the author

R. Phoenix

R. Phoenix has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes that love can corrupt and power can redeem. Her muse is a sadomasochistic slave driver who thinks it's terribly amusing to give her the best ideas when she just got comfortable and warm in bed, and she passes on that torture to her readers. She also tries entirely too hard to be funny, and she mercilessly inflicts her terrible sense of humor upon anyone who speaks to her. She'd love it if you'd say hello!

Great ending to the series! Now I guess I need to go back and read the ones that come before these!

This was such an intense book. It was my favorite of the trilogy. I loved how things keep changing so fast for Tavi and Rex. It was a thrilling third instalment.

What I liked the most about the book was the strong emotions that were present on it. Is not like they were lacking in the previous instalments, but I felt a bigger connection with Tavi and Rex’s emotions. There were a lot of moments when I felt heartbroken. I love feeling a bit of angst when I read, so this book was perfect for me. I loved how the struggle with their own feelings and also with doing the right thing.

There are a few thigs I loved without giving too much spoilers away. I enjoy the happy moments Tavi and Rex shared. I wish there were more, but when they let problems aside and just enjoy their company, it was beautiful.

The plot was magnificent. Since the previous book, there have been so much twists that it’s just impossible to put it down. I loved the part secondary characters play in its development. I was particularly charmed by Nyla and there was a character I disliked so bad before, Julian, and now I’m not so sure. He’s definitely intriguing. Almost as much as Desi. Both of them make me laugh so much, even though I’m not so sure their scenes were intended to be funny.

The only thing about it that I didn’t like, and that’s on me because there are clear warnings in the blurb, was the age play. It didn’t bother me as much as it did before. Maybe because I’m used to it or maybe because there is less than it was in Want and Take. Either way there were very few things I didn’t liked about the book. Even not being completely comfortable with the age play, the plot is so good that, if I had the opportunity to read it again, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Continuing where things left off from book two, with Rex and Tavi trying to maintain what they have with the past always lurking in the background.
And for a moment they had utter bliss, until Tavi goes too far. And it all comes crashing down.

My favourite moment in this book is when Tavi have fled, leaving Rex alone and feeling abandoned.
He finds his pacifier to calm and comfort himself.
It shows he had fully come to accept his own wants and needs, and how much he needed Tavi.

This book also gives a look in to what is happening in the outside world, showing a few familiar faces and lets me connect the dots. With Elias still at the center.

The only thing I found missing, was a proper talk for Rex and Tavi, as we leave them with still so much unsolved. And resentment and guilt still lingering under the surface of the love they share.

(3.5) man...the ending really left more to be desired—it was a bit abrupt. despite knowing that this trilogy is part of a bigger series, i still wish that the overall plot was more contained within its own universe. i also didn't quite like the direction the story took, as this book was more about the bigger picture of the universe and politics (i mean, desi's nickname for tavi was literally butterfly...as in butterfly effect) rather than just about the twins and their relationship. also, poor dildo pony got locked up...😔

Marvelous! I'm kicking myself for abandoning R. Phoenix's dark and delightful Need Trilogy, shame on me lol. Last week I read Take and knew I couldn't wait to finish up this story. R. Phoenix puts their uniquely twisted spin on these themes and I loved every naughty bit of it.

The audio version of Have is beautifully performed by the wonderful Kenneth Obi, whose talent is greatly missed.

So much dark fun

There were a lot of things that happened in this book that I just wasn't expecting. Tavi and Rex have such a twisted relationship going on, and so much going against them that I hope we'll be able to see insights into how they handle things as the FotF series continues. I'm certainly excited to see what happens in this world with the bombshell that Lady Disideria dropped toward the end of this book.

Outstanding

If you like Vampires, witches and the daddy/boy scene, this series is for you. I have become so addicted to this alternate world. This book brings Tavi and Rex truly together for the first time. Each choosing on their own to be each other's. I can't wait to read what comes next.

Strange but good

Its hard to describe , the content isn't something that I would usually read let alone enjoy but I did . It has taboos and lines crossed that I would usually find distasteful but getting to know the characters smoothed the way.
I will certainly be reading more from this author.

I cried ugly tears when reading this book. The connection between the twins and the events that happened were quite intense. Plot unfolded and this seemed to have events begin that play a part In The actual sequence of the series. Can’t wait to read what happens.

Okay, I bought this book because I wanted to read about Tavi and Rex, and instead I had to read about one of the most annoying characters I think I ever read about for pretty much the whole book. Seriously I could not stand Desi haha.

Loving this series!

Omg. How can you stop there?!
Love the world building and the two dimensional characters. You don't just get captivated by the MC's but the secondary one's as well.
Great work! Can't wait to get it in audiobook like the others.

Audio Review: Loved this installment of the series. It was twisty and had me yelling 'Noooo' out loud! Characters were awesome, story drew me in.

I don't think I'll ever read the word 'butterfly' without conjuring Kenneth Obi's Lady Desi voice, LOL!
