Happily Never Forever

Rate this book
There comes a moment in a girl’s life when she finds out that princes aren’t real, tiaras are impractical and wet wipes are God’s gift to struggling moms.

Emerson had that moment when she ended up a single mom to a hell raising two year old and a pubescent teenager aka her sister.
She thought life was as good as it would get and she was happy(ish).

Until her childhood best friend walked back into her life and showed her all she had been doing was exist.

Rhett never liked rules. Especially not the ones pressed upon him by his family. He was part of the Cormack legacy. Leading an empire was his birth right. Becoming a tycoon in his blood. His way in life was decided for him, his choices never his own.
The only thing he ever really cared about was Emerson. Until he left without a word, turning his back on the one person that meant everything to him.

When they cross paths again neither one is the person they once knew.

Is it too late to make good on a promise given many years ago and try their hand at forever?

I love the written word in all forms and shapes and if I'm not glued to a book I'm attempting to write one.

I’m a frequent blonde moment sufferer and still trying to figure out how to adult. I live in Melbourne, Australia, with my two little humans, the holder of my heart and two furry demons. I love to hear from readers so feel free to get in touch.

Pages missing

I would have given more stars, but there were so many pages missing from this story. You could get a general idea of what happened, but no details. Lots of juicy bits were omitted too. Same thing applied to the other book listed after the story, too much missing to make much sense of it.

Beautiful

I had an amazing time reading this. There was tne thrill of danger and the pain of drama, and above all a beautiful love. Amazing characters - and that concerns the background characters as well. So many different personalities in a short HEA. Great read!

Nice story, but I wouldn’t describe it as a romantic comedy. There was some dialogue that made me chuckle, but the nature of the heroine’s plight was nothing to laugh at.

Emmi is a young woman who has legal custody of her toddler niece and physical custody of her teen sister. The three of them live with her grandmother in the elderly woman’s two-bedroom home. Emmi and her sister were abandoned by their mother when they were girls. This backstory sets the stage for the subplot in which a custody battle ensues for the baby. I won’t spoil that angsty storyline. You’ll have to read it for yourself.

Then, there’s the main plot- the romance. Emmi and Rhett grew up together. Three years have passed when they’re suddenly thrown together for a business meeting. She’s a working-class girl. He’s rich. They’ve got some issues to work through, but the old feelings are still there. One has to wonder why he never tried to reconnect with her in three years. If she was so important to him, why didn’t a man of his financial means keep track of her?
