Pillsbury

Pillsbury is a brand name used by Minneapolis-based General Mills and Orrville, Ohio-based J.M. Smucker Company. Historically, the Pillsbury Company, also based in Minneapolis, was a rival company to General Mills and was one of the world's largest producers of grain and other foodstuffs until it was bought out by General Mills in 2001. Antitrust law required General Mills to sell off some of the products. General Mills kept the rights to refrigerated and frozen Pillsbury products, while dry baking products and frosting are now sold by Smucker under license.

If you’re looking for some time-saving yet delicious meals, then this collection of recipes from Pillsbury will provide you with plenty of great options. Each recipe uses refrigerated dough and might be as simple as dressing up some crescent rolls with herbs or a bit more involved as in the Tuscan Crescent Ring. You’ll find recipes for appetizers, sweet breads, savory breads, main dishes, and desserts. Additionally, there are featured simple hacks for crescent dough sheets, toaster strudels, crescent rolls, and pizza crust. There is also a product index so it’s easy to find a recipe that uses the refrigerated dough you have on hand.

This is a timely read as I found several quick and easy appetizers and dessert options, just perfect for this busy time of year. It’ll be easy to whip up something quick to take to a holiday party or for a New Year’s Eve party. I liked the range of possibilities too; there are some super quick and simple options and some that require a little more effort. I think some of the heartier appetizers, such as the sliders, would be great for a Superbowl party. Special occasion or not, you’re sure to find a tasty meal, dessert, or treat that you can prepare quickly and easily allowing you to spend more time with family and friends.

Loved the book and all of the ideas. Great photos throughout. Perfect index- with food broken down by letter (as a normal one would), but also food broken down into pillsbury product used
Biggest complaint is that there weren't more recipes for the puff pastry dough.

During the first six months of my engagement to be married, I thought selling Pampered Chef products would be a brilliant way to earn a little extra money as we prepared for the big day. ....I don't think I ever made a profit. I sold the product for a little over six months, and I really never did make much money. But I definitely supplemented my limited recipe supply, and I became far more confident in the kitchen. Plus, I still have 99% of those products I picked up in my starter kit! (Along with several years more worth of Pampered Chef products!)

I mention Pampered Chef because a good portion of the recipes I learned included some product made by Pillsbury. I always loved that using Pillsbury products was kind of like giving myself a little shortcut, but it also *almost* guaranteed the end result would be a success! (Any time a recipe flopped, it was my fault, not that of the Pillsbury products!)

This book took me down memory lane, but it also got me adding a whole slew of new recipes to my collection. The thing about THESE recipes (and the ones I practiced from Pampered Chef) are some that I actually will make, quite possibly often. They're easy, they're inexpensive, and they're tasty!
