USA Today Bestselling Author! As seen on NBC’s TODAY Show - Stephanie Laska lost 140 pounds, roughly half of her body weight, by following her own outlaw version of a ketogenic diet. She figured out that the secret to losing weight without the crazy restrictions of a traditional keto diet was to break the rules and create her own “dirty” and “lazy” outlaw version of keto.

With over 20,000 positive reviews on Goodreads, readers agree. DIRTY, LAZY, KETO is a refreshing alternative to strict dieting. Losing weight shouldn’t be so complicated.

Stephanie spent most of her adult life in the Morbidly Obese Class III BMI category. Hovering close to 300 pounds, she avoided booths at restaurants and feared not fitting into amusement park rides. “I once put my jacket over my lap so the flight attendant wouldn’t see that my seatbelt wouldn’t close,” she admits.

Desperation and embarrassment motivated Stephanie to stop living in denial about her obesity. The DIRTY, LAZY, KETO books explain the unique keto diet Stephanie followed to achieve her amazing weight loss success. Using humor and simple explanations, Stephanie walks the reader through her personal manifesto for effective weight loss and maintenance. Her way is doable. Nothing fancy is required! (Especially not complicated math.)

Stephanie has kept off a 140 pounds weight loss for almost a decade and believes DIRTY, LAZY, KETO is a practical solution for everyone. We all know losing weight isn’t as simple as “cutting carbs”. It takes so much more, and Stephanie is here to help you get started with cookbooks and starter guides for all things DIRTY, LAZY, KETO.

A must read for planet KETO!

I've been living the KETO lifestyle for about a month, and doing a ton of reading. I wish I had started here. I am a 45 year old man, and I started at 238 lbs. After a couple of weeks of trying to go all crazy strict KETO, I dropped about 12 lbs. I realize that was most water Brightside by my high carb intake, but it was awesome all the same. Then I hit a wall. Boom! No weight loss to speak of for almost two weeks. I was frustrated and constipated. Nothing that ends in "pated" sounds good to me. Anyhow, I read this book this morning. It is an I spiritually book from a real life success story, and is full of common sense ideas to help someone like me and probably you, since you are reading this, to keep your sanity and make the move to a sustainable lifestyle change that promises a healthier and happier you. It's a fairly quick read, but I got as much from this book as from a month of reading and research. It's light on the "scientifical" stuff, but full of insight. If you are considering a ketogenic lifestyle, I suggest you start here. Best of luck to you all, and may God bless your efforts.

I liked the author's down-to-earth style. No pressure, no right or wrong way to do Keto. Just honest advice from someone who adapted Keto to work for her.

Keto is no longer overwhelming!!

This book is FABULOUS. I read it fairly quickly and love that it just gets to it and it's light and funny and real. It's just great. Factual without being heavy, honest without being judgemental. I will be sharing it with all my friends who comment on my (so-far) 60lb weight loss and ask me how I've done it. :)

I've been doing keto for a few years, but I always lose my way towards the end of the year. So every year I have to do a quick read to check that I still have a clue of what is expected from me.

I read this book in just over an hour and it was perfect for what I needed - just a very quick overview on the macro splits and then some advice on which foods are best in each category. I loved her emphasis on vegetables (with fat) as I think this will actually help me eat cleaner this time round.

This was very easy and breezy to read. I started it yesterday morning and finished this morning with a coffee mug, highlighter, and tabs in hand. Let me sum it up. I liked it. Everyone has a different way of eating or things they eat or remove for optimal health. Some can be vegan and thrive, some thrive on nothing but meat. It's a very personal journey to find a way to eat that brings about radiant health and healing, and helps us to return to a balanced body inside and out. She is open-minded, health conscious, and not judging or even suggesting that this is for everyone. She just knows it works for her and many others.

Stephanie talks about being obese, going through hard times, and living paycheck to paycheck. She shops at Walmart and discount stores, so she knows how to feed the family healthy foods on a budget. I love advice in that area.
Dirty is for those who want a low-carb ice cream or sugar-free drink or treat now and then to get over a hump. Lazy is that Stephanie tries to stay within 20 to 50 grams carbs and keeps track in her head. She talks about having PTSD around recording and tracking after years in WW. I get it, the not wanting your life to be your diet with tracking each bite, weighing and portioning. You might want your diet to be a natural part of your life.

The main thing I take away from this book and how to be successful is to eat lots and lots and lots of vegetables! With fat.

She was a big-time runner and maybe still is. She has a channel on YouTube by the same name; Dirty, Lazy Keto. She is very fun and makes this easy to understand. She makes it seem fun and effortless. I'm trying it her way!

It was a pretty good overview of the Keto diet for Dirty, Lazy, Keto. I have been on the keto diet for over 8 months and this was an good guide especially for fast food. I liked how that she listed everything that was under 10 carbs for all fast food resturants including the nutrition website to go to to recheck in case they update it. I will keep this on hand and check it often to get some ideas in case I am in a bind when out to eat.

I received a complimentary copy of this book as a goodreads giveaway. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Mostly what you already know....

If you have previously read anything at all about the Keto diet, this book is not for you. If you have not, and are completely new to Keto and what is involved, then it will help you understand what you need to do to get started. Personally, this didn’t help me learn more information about Lazy Keto, or Dirty Keto. I’ll stick to Pinterest instead.

I loved the start of the book - more about the concept of keto & making it simple. Useful guides to carb levels for beer & wine and ideas to incorporate more vegetables into your diet. But here & there the author gets kinda pissy. Anyone having a cheat day, for instance, or falling off the keto wagon apparently means that you're not really serious about losing weight. There also weren't really recipes in this so if you're looking for more of a recipe guide, I'd recommend other books or even following some Pinterest boards. Overall meh.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I was interested in the book because I have heard many people lose weight on Keto - but looking up Keto restrictions made it seem too overwhelming for me. This books makes it appear to be a "doable" option. I am going to try it!!! Book was well written and very funny!!! Read it in one sitting!!!

Good read

It got me pumped to finally try keto. I've been looking into it for about 5 years now, but after paleo, a strict keto diet was NOT what I was looking for.

Stephanie's writing style was straight-forward, to-the point, comical, and informative. I enjoyed how she presented her thoughts, owned her thoughts, and was not 'preachy'. There was some good information, particularly for someone like myself who is considering trying the KETO thing (at my doctor's insistence)...but fears the change that is required. Her personal story provided insight and some strength to the decision that I must make. A good read. Would like to have some better food choices, but I need to come to terms with that.

All the recipes look delicious but not one of them have the amount of servings the recipe makes. I am disappointed.

None of the recipes are listed with the number of servings. They don’t have the the fat protein and calorie content. So I didn’t make any of the recipes even though they look delicious. And I saw nowhere in the book where it said that maybe all the recipes were for so many people.

This was a great starter book for those that are thinking of starting a Keto plan. Book is easy to read with illustrated examples and simple steps to follow. If you are looking for the science of Keto or why it works. This is probably not the book for you. If you are looking for a book that explains Keto and why it works for the author, then this is probably best place to start.

Basic Keto Info badly written

The author comes across as uneducated, (despite her claim to have a Masters degree) makes frequent grammar mistakes, apologizes for speaking about the science behind Keto. Science is not boring! Basically it is dumbed down Keto for alcoholics. Her success seen in photos is the only inspiring thing about the book.

Great Book

Thank you for your sense of humor and bringing Keto down to earth for me. I have been doing Lego for almost 5 months and have lost 25 lbs. I am stalling now and needed this to encourage me...lol. Thanks again for taking the time to write this book.

This is a book for beginners. I mean like you know NOTHING about keto- beginner. I thought this would have some recipes, but all it had was the history of this person, how they started, and then lists of Keto Friendly foods (which you can find easily on any website). Waste of time & money.

A Fast Take on Keto Dieting

Enough to get you started, but not a lot of substance. Repetitive and far too chatty for my taste. I would have liked a bit more on the science as well.

For beginners

If you already are familiar with keto, there really isn't anything you will learn here. I do like that she makes a point that you don't have to follow keto perfectly to have results.

Ja esi keto iesācējs, kas neko iepriekš par to nav lasījis, tad, iespējams, šī grāmata varētu būt diezgan noderīga. Diezgan maz zinātniskā pamatojuma. Patika nostāja, ka, ievērojot keto, jābūt elastīgiem. Receptes ļoti amerikāniskas, neuzrunāja. McDonald čīzburgera zupa? Nopietni?

If you know nothing about keto then this would be good for you. But if you’re already well versed there is nothing new here. It’s way too long.

Bare Essentials in Brief

Steph has got it right! The biggest plus is that she has boiled down into a few short chapters the “essence” of low carb dieting. As some who also lost 100 lbs and kept it off for five years, Steph’s approach is almost a mirror of my own.

Only big difference is she really focuses on vegetables as her “secret”... my secret was exercise.

AND HERE IS THE REALLY GOOD NEWS FOR MEN.

You can eat meat... (including bacon and steak - even bacon wrapped steak) virtually as much as you want, drink alcohol, just as much as you should... AND still lose weight. Lots of it. AND EASILY... YES... JUST AS SHE SAID.... EASILY.

Her biggest and most important contribution to this low-carb diet “adventure” is it doesn’t have to be hard, and you don’t have to be anal retentive to do it. Just learn her general guidelines, learn about good and bad foods. Then just eat the good and not the bad.

Eat till you are full [full of the “good” food]. But... and this is a big butt... NO SUGAR... NO STARCH!

And if you want to “super charge” your weight loss. Add exercise. As much as you can work in. I used a recumbent bike 1 hour 5 days a week. Lost my hundred in less than 6 months. Like Steph said... it was freakish. And with the biking and some light lifting... I was pretty ripped for a 40 year old.

So, do yourself a favor ‘one that will save your life] and listen to Steph. This is the “real real”, lead pipe cinch, dyed-in-the wool, answer to all those dieters that have experienced life long struggles with weight.

With this book, this approach, you’ve got the golden key in your hand. Just use it.

Probably one of the least scientific books on Keto diet, but I enjoyed reading it. Before taking this book I completed two more serious books on Keto (i.e. The case for Keto) and it was more about experiences and strong intonation expressed in very non-academic (familiar) style. As the author does not try to sell his recommendations as science then they should also be taken as such but at the same time she also does not encourage completely unhealthy diet (although there are recommendations like what is OK to order in McDonalds or coffee shop). Adapting to the Keto lifestyle is definitely a longer journey/transition and if you use up all your willpower at once you have already failed. So cutting some corners while generally shifting towards the optimal choices is definitely a more sustainable approach. I cannot directly relate with someone who starts dealing with bodyweight issues from 150+ kg, but I do want to believe into the positive benefits of Keto and can confirm that it actually ensures higher and more stable energy levels without the regular "sugar rush" from the standard carb-rich diets.
