It's the summer of 1969 and Aaron Prescott is a seasoned soldier. After serving one tour of duty in Vietnam as a cavalryman, Aaron returns for a second tour as a combat medic.

Aaron's life revolves around the love of his Vietnamese girlfriend, the danger of combat and his passion for music. It's not an overly complicated existence. But that's about to change.

After suffering a near death experience during combat, followed by months in a coma, Aaron will need to make some difficult decisions. Were the experiences he endured in a coma real? If they were, it means there is a much larger war raging unseen all around us. And, he may now be a part of it.

Oliver served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army and studied at MSC. In the late 1980s through mid 90s Oliver pursued his love of music. He enjoyed traveling, playing percussion and writing lyrics for popular bands. During this time Oliver also began writing short stories and articles.

After playing for thousands through the fall and winter of 1996 Oliver's band abruptly disbanded. In early spring of 1997 Oliver along with a good friend who was a guitarist got together with the intention to form a new group. But rather than form a new band the two put together an expedition plan for traveling to Northern Canada and Alaska in order to prospect for gold.

Leaving in April of 1997 Oliver and company traveled up the historic AL-CAN highway. After exploring the Yukon and Northwest territories of Canada as well as the Arctic Circle the team traveled over the Top of the World highway to Alaska.

1999-2000 Oliver traveled through Asia, visiting Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan among other countries.

In 2004 Oliver published his first book and continues to write books, articles and short stories. Currently Oliver and family reside happily in the U.S.

If you're looking for a typical war/good vs evil tale, then this isn't the book for you. However, if you're looking for an exciting interpretation of the eternal conflict between good and evil that also includes angels, werewolves, and vampires, this is definitely your book.

Spyder Bones was an absolute joy for me to read. Mr. Phipps has a simple way of writing which gets right to the point. He ensures you get all the necessary parts without being inundated with over-the-top writing or explanations.

I loved being immersed in the lifestyle of the 60s and 70s. Mr. Phipps has included many pertinent characteristics of the time which gives his story a wonderful authenticity.

My only issue with the book is the grammatical mistakes. Mostly just missing or misplaced punctuation, there are, however, too many mistakes for me to give the book a perfect review. Once the book has undergone another round of editing to fix these mistakes, it will most-deservedly be a 5/5 read.

You may call me Oliver Phipps Junkie, I’m not sure when it started, but I fell in love with his books after reading the very first one, which for me was Tempest Soul! He has a very unique writing style that grips you at your core, and doesn’t wish to let you go! It’s something outstanding, especially if you look at how many different genres he’s tried himself in, and you can always find something interesting in his books, whether you are a fan of the genre or not.
Are you ready to meet yet another interesting character? He’ll test your limits, and Mr. Phipps will test your imagination when presenting to you the world that you should ideally be aware of, but which may be completely different to the one we live in! Are you ready to embark on this journey? Don’t forget that you’ll be transported to a time of war, but is it a war of humans? Or maybe there’s something else lurking nearby?

Beautiful & Captivating

Not only was the book beautifully written but it was captivating as well. The storyline kept me guessing and I never truly knew where it would take me. In fact, there were a few times that I found myself wondering ‘what is going to happen next?’ I felt as though, this book never lost momentum. The beginning started with a lot of action and it continued throughout the entire storyline. From parties to battles with fallen angels and vampires, there was never a dull moment.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 for many reasons but mainly because I was unable to find one thing that I didn’t like about it. This book has a unique and captivating plot, strongly developed characters and is filled with action.

After several years of nagging by my friend, I finally got my first copy of Oliver Phipps book, and the only thing that I can say, was that I was impressed. The book flowed so naturally, the language was easy to understand, and even though there were some jargons used here and there, I didn’t even pay any attention to it, I was too engrossed in the book, not wanting to put it down! The only thing left it now, to get all his other books as Christmas present to myself and indulge myself in them!

A well-paced and intriguing novel that combines Vietnam War era with a spiritual realm conflict between good and evil. I love the direction of the story as the plots and the 'powers' are unpredictable, and takes across various stages and platforms. Although the storylines are pretty dark, the loveable Sonya surely keeps the mood light and up. Without spoiling anything, I would say expect everything!

I got this book on Kindle. Great read and highly recommended!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough! It has quickly become one of my absolute favorite books...it's truly captivating and well written. Some writers tell compelling stories. Some write beautifully. This writer does both. It's not often I come across a book that I enjoy as much as I enjoyed this. It was a pleasure to read it.

An exceptionally unique play on the standard good verses evil plot. I love this author's work and have come to expect stories from him that don't follow the tired and worn out formulas that we all too often get.

Once again Oliver has impressed me with his most recent story, Spyder Bones. The immersion of 60s and 70s slang as well as an impressive cast of characters pulled me into a world where what we see may not always be what is really there.

There are a few typos as is found in most all the author's works. But they are minimal and I've never found an Oliver Phipps book that I considered overpriced or not worth what I paid for it. So, that in mind, I again give five stars and wait anxiously for his next book.

Wow! Not sure where to start on this one. It has so much. I think fantasy fans will love this novel as it goes between two worlds, in a way, but still happens in the world we know.

Also it has the historical fiction element that I've grown to love from many of Olivers's works. We get to visit another era and immerse ourselves in the nuances of days gone by.

I was not really prepared for the depth of this story. Without giving anything away, it really forced me to rethink what see every day and what we may not see.

Altogether, another wonderful and exciting read from one of my favorite authors. I very highly recommend this novel.

Warrior Angel of Light So Cool

This book about an angel warrior of light who is almost killed in Vietnam, before being miraculously healed and being given a spiritual task to complete in New Orleans. The story really moves along at a speedy pace. Great page-turning summer read.

Great read!

A pleasure to find an Arthur who is a story teller, and not just out too make a quick buck, with the current version of the "Perils of Pauline"

Very interesting and entertaining take on the standard good verses evil plot. I read some reviews of this book before reading it. I have come to the conclusion that many people miss subtle sub-plots and details in this author's work.

I have come to enjoy these mini-plots and side stories and hope more people will catch these as they are fascinating. There is often several layers in Oliver's stories but one must pay attention or they can be missed.

I found quite a few of these shadow connections in Spyder Bones. I suspect I also missed a few as well. Great story altogether.

Was this even edited? If so, maybe once more would be helpful. Also, if an author is going to write within a certain time period, it’s best to research deeply. The slang was used incorrectly, the clothing was all wrong, and the small behaviors described were not accurate for the people of that time period.

Once again, all the glowing 5 star reviews hooked me into reading this very amateur book. I need to learn that when a book is new, a group of 5 star reviews and recommendations is probably sketchy.

The premise sounded good. It ended there.

2 stars, because it might be enjoyed by adolescent boys, who, for the most part, need to read more.

It’s my first time reading something by this author, and I can’t say that I went head over heels for it. It was a very enjoyable read, but maybe just not my cup of tea. I was looking for more action, for more revelations for more description of the war. I did get to see the lives of the soldiers, but maybe it just wasn’t enough for me! Overall it’s a good read, that everyone should be aware of!

So. My wife recommended this and I held off for a long time as reading about spicy stuff just seems weird to me. But I will say I absolutely love this story and where it’s going. Great world building and story telling. I feel like the smut can be skipped if you want and the story will still be fantastic.
