The plot had potential but at times the story felt stiff, like it was missing a connection with the characters. There was very little depth to the characters leaving me wanting more.
There is a serious need for corrections. At one point it was noted that the h didn't know the H's name yet she refers to him by name BEFORE he reveals his name.. awkward
Another time when a maid/former slave is helping the h get into bed but the maid's name is used during the scene when it should've been the h getting into bed.. these types of issues distracted me from getting into the story more perhaps. Along with misspelled words and contradictions in the plot of the story left me disappointed in what I was hoping to be an amazing read.

An intense mafia romance story that pulled me in and kept me hostage until the very end. This amazing read is filled with twists, secrets, intrigue, dark desires, and so much more. Captive is one of those books that you can't wait to see where the story takes you.

I enjoyed this book very much. Tessa is a 19 yr old virgin, a student living a miserable existence with an abusive stepfather as best she is able. I felt she was admirable as for a 19 yr old she had her eyes on this prize of finishing school to get a degree to enable her to attempt a positive future. But all of her plans are derailed when her stepfather pushes her into being auctioned off as a sex slave to the highest bidder. Tessa agrees to the auction in faint hopes her lot will improve. But Tessa is very naïve & there are monsters with LOTS of money out there.
Will buys Tessa before she is even bid on by anyone else & the next thing she knows she's shoved into a limo & told to obey, be silent & strip. Will sees her tears & fears but commences her 'training' immediately.
The story goes between Tessa & Will's POV from chapter to chapter giving the reader insights into the thought process for each of them. Tessa is trying to float in a new & frightening world & Will has more dark & evil psychological scars than Tessa could ever imagine. For his part, Will becomes confused with how he views & feels about Tessa, unsure of how he wants to react and/or treat her.
But then he leaves on a business trip & Tessa goes snooping in places she was told to stay out of & finds something that frightens her enough to bolt.
Now she comes across a true monster & it isn't Will.
Again, I liked this dark romance, I was invested in Will & Tessa, I was hoping they'd have a HEA. They both have dark & scary paths to tread & it will take both of them together to attempt to survive. There weren't any parts I wanted to skip, there were some steamy interactions & although Will was NOT a good man I still wanted him to redeem himself. I felt this was an excellent blend of sex, romance, angst, suspense & action. A secondary character, Viktor, makes an appearance again at the end of the book & I LOVED him (I really hope he gets a book of his OWN) & what he wanted & how he said it! A very enjoyable read.

Girl enters auction for her virginity and services. Good. No one explains to her what is expected. Bad. Rich jerk buys girl at said auction. Fine. Rich jerk does not explain expectations, says her owns her for however long he wants and treats her like crap. Bad.
Let me clarify my own interests here. I like dark romances, dubcon and slaves falling in love with their masters. I have no problem with any of that. Where I do have a problem is when dubcon masquerades as consensual. In our setup, our heroine voluntarily enters the auction because she is trapped and feels she has no other choice. But the madame of this established, reputable (as far as these things go) auction house immediately dresses her up and sells her off without any explanation of how it works. There is no excuse for that behavior from the madame as she is not presented as a bad person. If our heroine had been kidnapped off the street then the characters would not be obligated to explain anything and I would have been perfectly happy with the story.
If this part doesn't bother you, then you will find the story to be well written with plenty of twists and turns as well as hot steamy sex. Just skip the first two chapters with the terrible setup and enjoy the rest of the story.

This book certainly held me "Captive".
Tessa is just trying to get done with high school, but her home situation is making that rather difficult. She's nineteen years old and she's been held back in school a couple of times due to her home situation. Her stepfather, Trent is a disgusting drunk who expects her to be his maid and chef or he'll kick her out. One day, Trent informs her that she can either let him sell her at auction to recover all the money he wasted raising her or she can find somewhere else to live, either way he's done with her sponging off him. She finds out that the money that she makes at auction will only be paid to her, not her stepfather. So she willingly auctions off her virginity along with anything else that is asked of her. Will has a lot of secrets, he had a traumatic childhood and he can't even say what he does for a living out loud. Tessa makes Will feel things he shouldn't and she keeps his demons at bay, but he still craves her submission and he loves to hurt her. Grab this tragically beautiful story to find out what happens when one innocent young woman turns a cold hearted man inside out. Loved this story. Hoping to read Viktor's story soon!!!!!

Poor Old Tessa has been living with her Srep Dad in a trailer. He only had her there so she could cook and clean for him. But he was vile toward her and treated her really badly. But poor old Teddy has nowhere else to go as she was trying to graduate and work a part time job to help pay her way. But when her Step Dad finally has enough he see’s dollar signs and tries to sell her to the highest bidder. But little did he know the money wouldn’t be going to him but to her instead, Tessa feels she has no other choice has she had nowhere to go so goes along with it. But she was carted off the stage before the auction even started. She finds the man who bought her not too bad until she goes snooping around his house and finds things out about him that makes her change her mind and run. But after getting herself into a even worse position soon wishes she hadn’t run. This book had me hooked from the very first page. I like dark and this book is definitely quite dark. But I like the way she was able to change him for the better and the ending was s nice one.

Will doesn't give Tessa any leeway for her innocence and inexperience. He makes her jump right into the deep end. She's now in a world of intense pleasure, pain, passion, fear, control--with so much and so little at the same time.
Will buys Tessa. He’s a hard-edged Alpha who trades in influence, flesh, and violence. He thinks women should be seen and not heard…unless he gives them permission to talk. His character goes through some big changes and pulls off the difficult trick of making him demanding, cold, controlling, rough—but still sympathetic with flashes of something deeper that lets the reader root for him to win Tessa's heart.
I like Tessa but she gets a little TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) almost immediately. She disobeys Will’s strict orders, snoops in his private stuff (!!!), sees things that scare her, panics and runs. It didn’t fit with her character—at least the character that was described. At least, give her more inner dialog that offers more insight or explains away her bad decisions.
They get their HEA, but it’s a rough road there and may not be what they originally thought would make them happy.

Tessa is a young woman who is growing up with a stepfather who wants nothing more than to have his way with her. As she is not inclined to let that happen, he decides to bring her to an auction to recoup the funds that he feels Tessa owes him for caring for her after the death of her mother. If she refuses, he is throwing out of the house. Will is the billionaire who wins the opportunity to have Tessa, prior to the action, but a man from his past is upset after not even having a chance to place a bid. How far will the man from the past go to get what he feels is his? Can Will get to Tessa in time? Will Tessa be able to handle Will’s past? This is one salacious and intense storyline watching as Tessa and Will grow into their relationship.

This is an easy to read book and it threw small twist as the book went along which kept the story moving along but I was disappointed with the way that it ended. Almost as if a fairy godmother had appeared and waved a magic wand and every thing was instantly easy. It is ok for a book to end when the world is not perfect.
Once I had opened the book, it was easy to read and hard to put down and required no brain power to anticipate plot twists. I expected from the synopsis a master slave relationship, and that is exactly what I got.
I gave 4 stars because although it was what it said on the tin, it was not something that made the author stand out and want to follow. I would not be averse to reading more of their books, I just would not search for this author.
If you are looking for an easy to read master slave then this fits the bill nicely

After trying to discover his secrets, she runs only to find a fate worse than being with Will!

This is my 1st book by Violet Noir and I love an author who writes in dual point of view.
Tessa is living with her stepfather, until the day he wants to auction her off. Tessa agrees to get away from him, and is bought by Will. Will brings her home and there is just something about Tessa that gets into his heart. While Will is away, Tessa sneaks in to the basement, discovering his dungeon and his office with the doctor’s appointment. Tessa runs away only to be caught by Alex, Will’s rival who wanted Tessa for himself. Will rescues her from Alex, and opens up about his occupation and past. Will Tessa and Will have a happily ever after or will outside forces destroy them? You have to read to find out and will not want to put the book down.

If you like DARK, HOT romance, you’ll love this book…may have triggers so be aware.
Tessa’s life after her mother left her and her stepfather has been basically hell, but it’s all she can do to keep his drunken messy self away from her since she’s grown up. Apparently, he got tired of waiting for her to change her mind b/c he takes her to an auction to be sold. What happens next has so many more dimensions. Will, her new “Master” has purchased her for an outrageous amount and her job is to obey. Can she?
Ms. Noir has written a very compelling, albeit short book with some very dark vibes. Delicious if you like that kind of thing, which I do. Ends with an HEA, but I hope Viktor gets his HEA in the next book in the series.

What an intriguing read! I was sucked on from the start and couldn’t put this down. So many twists and turns, it’s dark, angsty, sexy and full of surprises. I’m loving the Mafia romances and this one was no different. I loved Will and Tessa, two people needing to find something to make their life meaningful. Auctioning herself off should be the answers she’s looking for, but she didn’t expect Will and how he makes her feel things and she for him and it’s nothing they’ve experienced before. Can be that person that they both need? I guess you will need to read to see how this ends. Loved this book, it’s gripping, suspenseful, and you won’t put this down. This was another good read by this author. Tessa is a nineteen year old virgin who has not had the best life growing up since her mom died. Now her step dad is making her go to an auction so she can pay back the money he used on her. What he doesn't know is that he won't get any of it, Tessa does. Will is a billionaire who has a very dark past and wants a new toy. He pays for Tessa the second he sees her, but also makes a "friend" angry in the process. What he meets Tessa he is captivated by her and starts feeling things he has never felt. He realizes Tessa keeps his monsters at bay and hopes she will stay when he tells her his secrets. This has suspense, secrets, Master/slave dynamic, twists and turns and hot and steamy scenes. This is a dark read and may cause triggers for some people.

Can two broken people find each other and fall in love? I found this a different kind of love story but I fell in love with Tessa and Will and hoped they could come together and fight the troubles that followed them.

This is the dark story about Tessa & Will. Tessa's stepfather who was abusive makes Tessa sell her virginity at an auction so she can pay him back for all that he has done for her. The guy who buys her Will, is a sadist who was also abused growing up. They are two really dysfunctional people that somehow click. This story may bring out quite a few triggers regarding rape and violence if you have them. There is some really dark and disturbing moments in this story but it is well written and it drew me in to keep reading. I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout.

THIS IS FABULOUS !!! THE STORY AND CHARACTERS ARE AMAZING AND JUST SUPERB !!!!
THE DRAMA AND SUSPENSE THAT HAPPENS BETWEEN THE MAIN CHARACTERS HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, I WAS THINKING ABOUT WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NEXT SOME TIMES I WAS RIGHT OTHER TIMES I HAD IT WRONG AND THOUGHT TO MYSELF WHEN I GOT TO THE NEXT PART, ... DANG I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING LOL !!!! I MUST ADMIT VIOLET HAS DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB WITH THIS BOOK , I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE !!! This was a good book. It was a quick, dark, and intense read. I didn’t know where it was going to go, and I didn’t want to put it down.
Tessa has had a hard life and wants to get away from her stepfather who treats her horribly. She ends up at an auction hoping to make enough money to get her through college and gets bought by Will. Nothing goes as planned for both of them. There is so many twists and turns in this book. Can Tessa handle her new lifestyle or is there a difficult choice for her make?
I would recommend this book. Read it to find out.

Thiis is a dark romance on how a dominant can spiral out of hand. It gives you an insight how a dominant becomes what they are. How they can find the right reasons to change. The only thing that helps is a strong willed woman that needs to escape one bad situation and learn about another.
Tessa's story is one that some women do go thru. Her will to survive is what helps everything to evolve into something better.
This story does have a happy ending, but it was a dark journey to get to.

This is a good story and I must admit the story had plenty of twists and turns which were quite unexpected. I thought the story was just a virgin auction story but I was quite wrong. If you like intrigue, BDSM and more you have to read this book. The characters were strong but there was a softness both to Will and Tessa. A definite page turner and finished it in a short time. Definitely will read more from this author.

This is the second book I've read by Violet Noir. While I liked this one, it still felt lacking. I wanted more depth to the story. I liked the characters; however, they needed more development/depth to them. I couldn't connect or relate to them at all. You didn't find out a lot about Will until towards the end. The plot had so much potential and could have been more. I wanted more "meat" to the story so to speak to pull me in more and get me hooked.

Wow. What a read this is.
It has some really dark parts so if this isn't your thing then don't read. However, the darkness leads to light and a beautiful story.
Tessa and Will are amazing together, they both had a tough start in life in very different ways and both have issues, together they become whole. The road to happiness is long and very tough for them and that's what makes this book so good.

I liked most of this book. It was interesting with good character structure. I did find that she was a bit naïve though which the character in the book realized eventually via the author's prose. As with any dark romance book, you will find a villain, which might or not be the male lead. In this book there are a few villains, one worse than the other. The author gave us plenty to think about as the story progressed. The flashback scenes were very effective. The anticipation builds throughout giving the reader goosebumps as to what she will be dealing with next. I did enjoy the ending.

This is dark read that has triggers that the arthur mentions in the book. I loved this book it's the 2nd one I've read of hers and I have to say I’m definitely a fan. How far would you go if your life was not what you hoped for? That's where Tessa find's herself as she's being auctioned off as a sex slave to the highest bidder and Will who has is own demons is there and see's her and wants her. This was definitely a hot quick read that was so good.

This book is about Will and Tessa, they meet when Will buys Tessa at an auction and what happens from there only gets darker! Due to its storyline there are numerous trigger scenes that some may find a deal breaker, if you are not triggered by these then this is a story that is well worth the time to read. At just under 1450 words I was so intrigued that I sat up and read it overnight.

Best advice I have for you is that make sure you will have uninterrupted time while reading this book as you will not want to be disturbed.
It is very dark in some places be warned you need a stomach of steel but my goodness it’s just so surreal you will overlook the darkness and appreciate the light at the end of the tunnel

I love reading a dark romance mixed it in with a mafia and I was so excited to read this book and boy am I glad as in one word WOW. I can’t wait to read more of this series. I love how this books holds you attention from the beginning and throws in the twists and turns and you will be hooked. Can’t wait for more.
