Nothing a few wishes, a little magic, and a lot of luck can't handle ... she hopes!
Erin Bedford is an otaku, recovering coffee addict, and Legend of Zelda fanatic. Her brain is so full of stories that need to be told that she must get them out or explode into a million screaming chibis. Obsessed with fairy tales and bad boys, she hasn’t found a story she can’t twist to match her deviant mind full of innuendos, snarky humor, and dream guys.
On the outside, she’s a work from home mom and bookbinger. One the inside, she’s a thirteen-year-old boy screaming to get out and tell you the pervy joke they found online. As an ex-computer programmer, she dreams of one day combining her love for writing and college credits to make the ultimate video game!
Until then, when she’s not writing, Erin is devouring as many books as possible on her quest to have the biggest book gut of all time. She’s written over thirty books, ranging from paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and even scifi romance.
Also, third person is really weird when writing about yourself. Just putting that out there.
This book had a little bit of everything. I love how real and magical this harem seems! I love all the guys and I like the sweetness put into it. Can't wait to read the next book in this series!
3.5 stars. I have to be honest and say this book was a drama filled mess!! Yet, it was highly entertaining! The dialogue OMG had me rolling! “Clam jammed” “bushwhacked” I was dying! So yea it was raunchy and completely immature and had me rolling my eyes every so often but I was having a good time!
In this, the second book in the Academy of Witches series, Max is back for her 2nd semester of magic school. I found it a little hard to reconcile the Max from the first book with Max from book 2. In the first book she thought some guys were cute but she was just really adamant about learning the new world and working on her magic. Book 2 comes along and bam 4 boyfriends a lot of word vomit females and big big projects at school. I’m disappointed that the book didn’t cover the whole semester so we will have to wait till the next book to see how some projects turned out.
All in all this book was ridiculous...ly entertaining and I’ll probably read the next one because I am a sucker!
Note: I received an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest review.
I was already looking forward to this book as I really enjoyed the first one. Regardless, I didn't know where it would go or what all was to happen. I choose not to read any plot or synopsis. That being said, now having finished it. It was a great read. It was just as good as the first, and included the usual good stuff like some drama, more diving deeper into the relationships and personalities too. The read through I found no issues, everything basically made sensed. So all in all, if you like the first one there is really no reason not to get this one. None.
If you're new the series, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a fun series about a girl who finds out she's a witch and you basically follow along as she figures her life out...especially her way through 'college' years in a new world with some hotties too.
Erin Bedford succeeds again with this series as much as her other ones, I'm already hoping/waiting for book 3. So don't wait, get reading and find out too why this was a good read for me.
Erin Bedford is an incredible author. There hasn't been a book that I have not loved. With every book, you can tell the love she put into her writing. Each book is well written, the emotions the characters feel... the love, the laughter, hatred, fear and struggles, you can feel. I have live each and every word that she puts forth and each book is fantastic!
As You Witch is yet another outstanding book that Erin has written! The 2nd book of the Academy of Witches continues Max's struggle. With her parents straining to pay for her tuition at Winchester Academy and the threat of not being able to stay in the school, her only option is at this point is to win the scholarship at the school fair.
To win it she would have to beat her rival who is a big bully, impress her entire school and find a way to juggle the attention of four hot men. You'll definitely have to read it to watch how the story progress and how Max deal with all problems! Not only was I laughing at all the antics but on the edge to see what comes next! A definite must read, you won't regret it!!

This is the second book in the series and starts off right where the first book ends. As always with this author the book is well written with snarkiness to last. I love Max and her guys, the drama that surrounds her and how she handles it can have a person laughing in tears. I can not wait to see what happens in book three. Do Max and her grandparents get closer? Does she tell her grandmother off for being such a snob? So many questions

Max is getting used at being a witch and she is developing her relationship with her four guys. However, when she receives as a Christmas present a magic amulet that can grant wish things start going astray.
I had big expectations for this series, but I can't get into the story. Max and her guys are kind of childish, and I think their behaviour would have been better if the story took place when they were younger, probably high school and not during the first year (for Max) of college.
This is the second book in this series, and I liked it even better than the first one. Max is still trying to find her way in the magic community while dealing with her friends, boyfriends, an interfering grandmother, and her studies. What a follows is a fun, NA paranormal romance sure to please both new and old fans. There were a couple questions left unanswered at the end of this I’d like to see answered in the next one (I can’t wait) as inquiring minds want to know, as I’m wondering if Max has a new enemy and if she’s more magical than she thinks. Hmmmm. Give this a try! Highly recommend!
This was a mostly well written, pseudo-interesting addition to the series. I say pseudo, because it’s fairly boring. There’s no major conflict or event at all, only very minor little scuffles between Max and Sabrina. And even those moments of conflict were really pretty forgettable. The relationships between Max and the guys grows, but honestly that was probably the most interesting thing about the book.
I’m not saying that nothing interesting happens in this book, it’s just all sort of...everyone meandering about the witching community. Just sort of...blah. Really, the main storyline of this book felt more like a subplot.
Also, there were a few editorial errors, where the wrong word was used such as “laid” instead of “paid”.
This book moves very fast from a time point of view. It covers from Christmas through spring. There is not much relationship building at all. Scenes feel incomplete. I like the story line but there just isn’t enough conversation and development to feel invested in the characters.
I previously reviewed the first book in the series, Witching on a Star. That wasn’t a success by any means – I rated it 2,5 stars, and while I had high hopes for a reverse harem set in a witching academy, my hopes fell flat and the book was a bit of a dissapointment.
Still, I picked up book two, As You Witch, because I wanted to see if it would get any better. The series has a lot of potential, it just never executes it well, so I thought that maybe some of those kinks would’ve gotten fixed in book two. Alas, no such luck, and I even liked this one less than the first one.
This book was filled with unnecessary drama from the start until the end. With a million possible options to pick villains when your book is set in a witching world, the author keeps on using the mean girl as a villain. It’s dull and predictable. The dialogue is so bad that I had to roll my eyes at every other sentence. Max is immature, childish, entitled, and the guys she’s supposedly in love with are so bland and boring even I wouldn’t be able to keep them apart.
There is no conflict. There’s nothing really at stake. The relationships are too perfect – these four guys are instantly OK with all of them being with the heroine, and none of them is trying to win her for themselves. Of the four guys, only two have a hint of a personality, and the other two are basically just thrown in so this would be a reverse harem and not a love triangle. Either give them more personality or focus on the two that do have developed personalities and that a reader can root for.
Look, I know I’m one of the few who isn’t fond of this series, and it has really high overall ratings on Goodreads and Amazon. So, don’t take my word for it, this is after all just my opinion. But as far as reverse harems go, I’ve seen a lot better than this one.
I am not sure how I feel about her new boyfriends getting her drunk at a party, even though nothing really came of it. They should have known better, IMO.
SYNOPSIS (Books 1&2 of 4): FC discovers she is a witch and decides to attend the witch academy to learn her magic. There she meets and falls for 4 men who she decides to date simultaneously. The FC (and her mother) are estranged from her maternal grandparents - who are a big deal in the magic community - who try to become part of her life. There is a queen bitch who dated one of the FC’s men and who therefore has it out for the FC.
I read Book 1 (although I was skimming by mid way) and tried Book 2 but had to give up.
The books are in need of a good edit and proof read with stupid and annoying mistakes however this was not the reason I gave up on this series. I found the story to be unoriginal, the FC was annoying and the writing too simplistic. For example, when the FC’s ex is set on fire and some fizzy drinks explode the FC instantly decides that she caused these events. She then tells her parents what she thinks and her mother then reveals that she is, in fact, a witch and can decide to either go to human college or witch college. The FC does not puzzle over how this could be or why she was never told she was a witch she just merrily decides to go to witch academy and all is good.
When the FC gets to the academy she meets 4 different men. Within a few chapters they are all chasing after her (although who knows why as she does not seem to be overly attractive or have great personality). The men all seem completely fine with her dating the 3 others. There’s no discussion of RH being the norm or why she would date multiple men, it just is. The men themselves are very basic and stereotypes - the poor boy, the rich brothers and the big strong silent and intense one. The queen bitch is a caricature - she’s blond, snobbish and has her clique of followers. She comes from a powerful family and looks down on everyone else. She dated one of the FC’s men and therefore just keeps going after the FC. It very boring and basic.
The FC herself I just found annoying. She came across as mouthy and opinionated as well as full of herself. I think the author thought this would she her as strong and badass but it missed the mark completely. As mentioned, there is no explanation given as to why 4 men would suddenly fall for her. No explanation as to why the FC thinks it’s OK to date all 4 men and why they would even put up with it. I felt no real connection or chemistry between the characters - even their names were boring - Paul, Ian, Dale??? And absolutely nothing happened except the required bitchy run ins.
So I finally figured out what has been bothering me about this series. I’m not sure if the author was trying to cut pages and make a shorter novel or if she just isn’t that good, but it seems like a lot of action takes place between chapters. The whole summer of her talking to a couple guys and getting to know them, most of her date, all her classes. If more of this actually happened instead of us just getting one sentence to denote the passage of time, I might actually feel like I know some of the characters. Instead all I feel I really know is they ‘make her thighs clench’. I also feel like to be successful as an author with paranormal or fantasy elements before the book is ever written you have to already have your whole world thought up and written down. As it is I’m still confused they say they have ‘spells’ but then just visualize and wave their hands around... I mean if that’s how all spells work don’t they really just have one??? Plus our character is given this ‘advanced’ potion she has to make... and it takes 2 minutes and has three ingredients... really??? Couldn’t try any harder to make it more difficult? So while the writing and characters themselves at face value are all good, one you actually start reading one starts to realize we don’t know any of our characters that well and hell I think we’ve been to 1 class??? The author just needs to work on how she presents her world and the events unfolding in it to the audience... maybe some buildup instead of just skipping ahead to all the sex sex sex
I am in a nasty mood these days, can´t settle for a book, searching for something I cannot define or find so making it through the first chapter was already a huge success and while this was not enough for four stars (I am such a critic now, ghrrrr) it was good.
I mean, the cover got me hooked but the genre? It was so baffling and genius and sometimes just weird.
Because mostly, it was your normal, typical witch YA, the one that is somehow but not really another Harry Potter book - you know, a witch, discovering her powers, going to school and having some arch-nemesis that is, surprise, surprise, from some famous lineage and has it out for the hero (heroine, in this case). You know it - parents, friends, school, enemies and some magic.
And than - bam, four love interests. Like someone took a book for kids and a really unashamedly steamy novel and somehow managed to get them together.
I liked it was not that heavy on over-dramatization, the guys were mostly okay with each other, the society was scandalized but she also had a lot of support...
It was pretty low-stakes conflict, more heavy on the relationship (of all kinds) stuff, paranormal setting almost just an excuse to have a lot of hot and unique guys.... I mean, characters.
A great continuation from the first story [which you really need to read prior to getting into this one, it makes this series even better]
this book has hilarious antics, incredible banter and characters and drama like no other (but when isn't there drama at a [magical] school when you have the attention of 4 hot men, and a rival who is a big bully, all while your struggling to keep your place within said school.) in this second book, you learn more about each character and you get to fall deeper in love with this magical world and story.
Erin Bedford is an incredibly talented author that knows how to weave a story that's well written, has amazing characters with emotions that you can feel, has you on edge to see what comes next, and leaves you needing more.
I highly recommend this [and the first story] along with all of Bedford's works of art, i have yet to read a story of hers i haven't devoured whole.. and I've read all that are available and some that are no longer available.. A definite must read, you seriously will not it!!!

It's never easy being raised a human and then having the bomb of your magical legacy dumped on your head. Max could tell you much about it. But her magic is not the only thing complicating her life. Tensed family relationships between her parents and grandparents are only escalating now, her difficult and unusual relationship with four guys winning her not-so-desirable names, Sabrina picking fights whenever she wants is a constant already, and the school is only getting more workload for her. Her only salvation might be the ten-wishes charm necklace, after all... and her own wits. A very light and entertaining read, full of hilarious situations and facepalm scenes when you as a reader don't know whether to laugh, groan, or feel embarrassed together with Max. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, driving on a full-power high school drama, complete with mean girls and hot boys. Not mentioning jealousy, envy, social status, and wealth being the constant reminders of the elitists in the magical society - and Maxine's belonging to one very famous family. Thank god for the boys, who lighten the atmosphere and make this book a great journey.
Be careful what you wish for. It's what we all hear at some point and time in our lives. Well, Max is about to live it! She's got more problems that she can shake a stick at. Four men who are interested in her, her family is struggling to help her stay in this new school, and now the pressure is on to win a scholarship that can help pave the way for her to stay. Can she do it without getting caught up into any more trouble? Probably not. But what fun would that be anyway? As You Witch by Erin Bedford is book 2 in her Academy of Witches series. This book picks up right where book one left off and does not disappoint. This book is full of intriguing moments, humor, romance and of course suspense and mystery! I love Max's character. She's such fun to read about and this book is so hard to put down. There honestly isn't much that I don't like about this book. Yeah, there are character flaws, but it's the stuff we love to hate anyways. So I say if you enjoyed the first book then dive into this one and enjoy the fun! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I adore Max, the lead in Erin Bedford’s As You Witch (Academy of Witches Book 2). Yes, she’s got troubles, but aside from the strain on her parents to afford the Academy’s tuition, these are pretty nice ones. I mean, c’mon, we’re talking about an all powerful amulet and four hotties here. No surprise that how she deals with everything in this book is a total blast of reading pleasure. You can read this one stand-alone, and totally enjoy it, but you’d be making a mistake. This series is waay too much fun to skip its book 1 (Witching in a Star). This author knows how to do superbly written fun. That’s certainly the case here. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
I really enjoyed getting back into the world of Max and her hot guys. I loved that Max's dad as a normal everyday human accepts his daughter's witch side enough to get her a magical Christmas present. Even though Max has the pressures of college, four guys and the possibility of not being able to continue to go to school I love how she doesn't just give in and take the easy out. It's great that she is determined to stay true to her family and do everything she can to still be a Norman and not a Mancaster. I loved falling back into this world but I had to keep reminding myself that this isn't a save the world from a big bad evil kind of book. (I think I've been reading a lot of those here lately when it comes to the paranormal) I really enjoyed this this book is lighter and more normal life like.
Max is back and the story starts with a bang as family and holidays do not always mix well. Then Max was back at school and the fun really began. I was laughing by the end of the first chapter and never stopped as Max kept me reading and laughing. I loved the usual trouble she managed to get in and out of as the semester hummed along. I loved it all. The one liners just kept coming and making me laugh over and over. Of course there was also Max and her relationships with the sexy guys from the last book that managed to up the steaminess. I loved reading about Max and how she handled everyone including her boys and her grandparents. I jut really loved the story as it kept me glued to the end just to see what would happen next as I just knew a fun crazy scenes would end up happening.
Max has settled in to being a witch and is slowly learning what she needs to know at the Academy however doesn't realise the strain the tuition is putting on her parents, she decides she needs to will a scholar ship as she certainly doesn't want her Mum's parents to help as there will always be strings attached! I loved how Max starts to come into her own and when her nemesis tries to make things worse for her she turns the tables and embraces the fact that she likes more than one guy. There is plenty of lol moments, anticipation, trepidation as well as some steamier scenes that make this a great read and the ending wow now that was a surprise and can't wait to see what happens now for Max!

Max continues to thread the politics of the magical world, has to deal with elitists grandparents. With the aid of a christmas present that causes mischief but also helps her overcome several difficulties and stretch the limits of her power. Meanwhile things heat up with her men, while her relationship with them progresses, the tension between the men does too, while it's understandable some attrition they have to decide if she is worth dealing with short time and sharing. In the end everyone does come together, even her grandparents and her mother, to help Max win a career contest and a Scholarsip, guaranteeing her place at school for another year.

Again, Max, with bullies, 4 wizards more than willing to take their turns for their chance to escort Max, a Meddling grandmother. What next? You’lOnce again, Max is on the job, with bullies trying to ruin her chance to for a scholarship, 4wizards that are more than willing to take their turns to escort Max, a grandmother who has decided to meet and start meddling in Max’s life. What next? You’ll have to read the book to find out. Still great world building and further character building.as we get to know the characters better. Although this is a series,, it is stand alone. You will want to read the first book to be introduced to the characters.l have to read the book to find out. Great world building, character building.
This book in the series was not as fast paced as the first one. This story was okay, you learn more about Ian, Paul, Dale and Aiden which was very nice and helped the story along. You meet Max’s grandparents and understand why her mother left that comfortable life of being rich. But I wasn’t as happy with this story as I was with the first one. I guess maybe that is just me but in order for a reverse harem to work for me, I have to understand why the guys are so enamored with the girl. I am just not seeing it. But it was well written and the characters actually started to become more developed, so I will still give it a good rating.
As You Witch... is the sizzling book that follows Witching on a Star. It is fast and full of magic and sizzling hotness at every turn of the page. Maxine, Max for short is a busy new witch that came into her powers as she was about to graduate high school... How fun and scary is that. Any way she finds herself in all kinds situations that are extremely sizzling in a magical way.. There is lots of magic rivalry from another witch... I loved reading As you Witch.. I can't wait to see what happens next...
