Welcome to the bestselling Diamond Creek, Alaska Novels – a steamy contemporary romance series! Love Untamed is a sexy, charming and charged love story set against the wilderness and beauty of small-town Alaska. What happens when two people who are committed to staying single can’t keep their hands off of each other?
Susie Hammond is a romantic at heart and a meddling matchmaker to her friends. She had a near tragedy that shattered her trust in men a few years ago. While she wants love for everyone, guarding her own heart is more important than finding love for herself. Susie is beautiful, strong, independent, brash, funny…and most definitely not interested in Jared Winters.
Jared occupies the fantasies of many women in Diamond Creek and afar. He’s sexy, strong, enigmatic, and unattainable. His life is neat and tidy, organized down to the minute. Being a bachelor is simpler than dealing with the messy complications of a relationship. Susie is a hurricane force and a source of mischief and mayhem…most definitely not a temptation for Jared. Jared is just a tad too cool and collected for Susie. They drive each other crazy—in more ways than one.
For years, the spark between them has been on slow burn. When it finally ignites, passion and emotions explode. One scorching hot kiss leads to another and another and then some. As long as they’re not talking, their relationship is phenomenal. Events force them to face themselves and each other. Can Susie find a way to trust again? Can Jared let go enough to show her he’s worth trusting?

AA There is one basic plot line repeated chapter after chapter. "We're friends, I don't do relationships, let's have sex, we need to stop this, I don't do relationships."
Romance trope: enemies to lovers Series: Diamond Creek, Alaska Length: 262 pages
Plot: Jared and Susie know each other from around town; she's the accountant for his business and her best friend is married to his brother. He's seen relationships go down in flames before and he's not looking for that, so he keeps all his hook-ups casual. Susie has been hurt in the past in ways that she's not ready to share with people and it's easier for her to keep to herself - unless she's playing matchmaker for other people. But these two can't seem to stay away from each other and come to an agreement. The problem is that both of them are starting to have feelings that creep over the boundaries they've set.
Commentary: We've met Jared and Susie in previous books, and it was always a question of "when will they" rather than "will they." It was difficult to imagine why they were so set on avoiding each other. There was no real reason for them to be enemies. The thing about them being opposites made me laugh because I leave stuff all over the house and my husband feels the need to pick up after me and we get along just fine. Susie would do anything for any of her friends, but she couldn't seem to be nice to Jared, even though he was always going to be in their friend group. Jared had a reputation; he really thought that love was a waste of time only led to people being hurt, so he refused to participate in anything that wasn't casual. But Susie was hurt in a different way and she needed the comfort of someone who would be there for her the right way. Those two were at odds for a while, and keeping things secret (haha, not such a secret, not really) didn't make things better because it made Susie feel like she wasn't valued and it allowed Jared to avoid a real relationship. They worked it out i the end but it required both of them to be a little more vulnerable than they had been in the past.
I read Love Untamed directly after finishing Love Unbound. Book 4 of J.H. Croix's wonderful series is set in Diamond Creek, Alaska. Yes, they all are. This book is about Jared, one of 3 brothers in the series, and Susie, an accountant. They seem to have had a "push me/shove you" kind of relationship during book 3. I was intrigued by their behaviour and looked forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed.. Jared has been a loner ladies man for years. Susie, tho attracted to him is not interested in being a notch on the bedpost, so to speak. The slow burn heat is on in this story and J.H. does another awesome job of keeping it burning and I found it hard to put it down for very long. I love standalone series with related characters and am looking forward to the next story. So glad I ran across this author and her first book not too long ago.

Two emotionally unavailable people with gang ups, not uncommon in romance novels. However the emotional immaturity was not endearing nor was it entertaining.
Some of the back story about a small town in Alaska and the people in this series was engaging, but overall I was very disappointed. After reading Books 2 and 4 in the series it became clear all the Heroines had major self confidence and major self-esteem issues and all their negative self-talk around 'he's out of my league' and 'why is he attracted to unattractive me' just became old, depressing and aggravating. They had pep talks from their friends, but no one seemed to be doing self-work to love themselves, they just relied on their female friends to tell them they were Ok, but they still did not believe it.
I really did not like that the Heroine had to keep getting angry and stir things up in order to engage with the Hero - it was so emotionally immature, like a High School melodrama, not like people in their 30s.
Then to the guys...I liked the relationship between the brothers and the male friends in the stories, but the grabby, groping insta-lust was sort of juvenile. I don't mind steamy scenes in a romance, I expect them to be part of the plot, but most of these books have the guys getting to first base and even second base in public settings, even before it was clear they were dating, or without absolutely checking for consent before the first fondle.
This series had potential, but so many places I had to walk away from my ereader in frustration and do a little rant to my husband...1.5 Stars. Toasted from my Ebook Library

This is the fourth book in the Love Untamed Series. Jared, the oldest brother, has always been distant with women and relationships. He works hard with the shipping business, and is always very strict with his orders. The local town of Diamond Head has an awesome accountant, Susie who everyone loves, has her own business, is very good with her working relationships. Susie has never really had a man in her life. Will these two work out there love/hate relationship and figure out they both want each other?
Jared is such an A type personality. Susie is close, I would say a B type personality just due to her lack of personal organizational skills. She's very good at her job, but, her thrown clothes all over her house, and losing one shoe while the other is under the couch is very scatter brained.
Jared doesn't want to admit he has feelings for Susie. Susie doesn't want to admit she's into Jared as much as she is. Will they be able to work things out?
This was another great story in our Love Untamed series! Can't wait for book 5!
This is Susie and Jared and their volatile journey into love. Our story began with a kiss as hot as any volcanic eruption. A kiss that neither can figure out why it happened, you see both are in some serious denial. Susie and Jared have been friends and business associates for many years, Susie is their accountant. However, neither can be in the same room any length of time without starting an argument with the other. Can you say “sexual frustration”? Everyone but Susie and Jared can see the cause for it. Come, take the journey on the windy road of love between two people that were meant for each other. This was the fourth book in the Diamond Creek Alaska Series, and I must say it is just as well written as the first three books in this series. Ms. Croix does a phenomenal job writing this story. She writes in a way that make you just want to keep reading and reading, and never stop until you reach the end, and then wish you had not reached the end. Thank you for reading my review.
Love Untamed is the fourth book in J H Croix's Diamond Creek Alaska series. Susie Hammond and Jared Winters, the oldest of the Winters brothers, seem to be opposites, but the chemistry between creates sparks that are undeniable. It seems to take forever for each of them to admit that they need to be together. Susie has pushed her friends along in their relationships and now it is their turn to help her realize that this is true love and she better not mess around! The sex is steamy and often and may not be what everyone wants to read.
I enjoy reading this series and am very glad to see there is another story in the making!
I fell for this story just by the description. Once I started reading I just had to keep going until the very end. I really enjoyed getting to know Susie, she was such a fun character. Jared was much the opposite of Susie in so many ways. They were so fun to follow as they fought their attraction to each other. I also enjoyed Jared's brothers and the other people that were introduced from Diamond Creek. I will be looking for more books by the author. I really had fun reading Susie and Jared's story.
Stopped reading at 60%. Susie was too much of a nutcase for me to deal with. Repetition of Jared’s piercing green eyes and his wearing shirts that clung to muscles got old. Okay, we get it, he’s hot.
I realize this is part of a series but the secondary (formerly primary?) characters are flat and don’t entice me to check out their stories at all.
Btw, why does this author hate Oxford Commas so much?
I must be in the minority here because this book is so well reviewed, but I got progressively more irritated with the heroine the longer I read. She started out being a little quirky, but on the whole seemed level-headed and logical. By 76% (my dnf point), she was straight-up neurotic. I had to remind myself that I was reading about a woman in her early thirties, rather than a girl in her early teens. I couldn’t relate to the immature, self-centered brat I was suddenly reading about, and the way she treated Jared was unbelievably cringey.
Aside from the unrelatable heroine, at times the writing style befuddled me. A highly dramatic scene involving another character’s abusive ex returning with a weapon happened completely “off-screen,” so to speak, and then the characters seemed to brush off the whole incident. The entire “abusive ex” plot line seemed like it was carried over from a different book and dumped into this one solely for the purpose of tying up a loose end. It had nothing to do with the story and frankly, the characters barely treated it like it was part of the story.
I tried to make it through this book. I hate abandoning stories, especially when I’ve made it so near the end. But at 76% I just couldn’t anymore with Susie. I hope Jared was able to just walk away from her the way I did, he deserves better.
Yes! Finally, the inevitable attraction between Jared and Susie gets their turn. I have looked forward to this connetion since starting this series and I was not disappointed. I loved the ups and downs these two went through. It was so realistic. The reason Susie had held herself back was handled very well and I loved Jared's response to it. He just endears me to him more and more. I love the check-ins throughout this series with the other characters. This is the reason I love to read a family series of books. I love the close relationship these brothers share with each other and their friends. The tragedy that happens while on a trip is a nail-biter. I like how involved and imbedded I feel in the happenings of these stories and lives of these 'people'.

Set against a turbulent backdrop of Alaskan storm, this sequel 'Love Untamed' by JH Croix, can indeed raise heart-beat. "Pulse pounding" and the "butterflies in the belly" just would not settle down is this atmosphere created in the book. A love story at its best, with adventures and human aspirations all entwined into an emotive drama that leaves readers not just satisfied but stung with goosebumps. By far, this love story is not the usual infatuation of indifferent love making. But one that comes with responsibility, as reflected in the characters. Encountering challenging moments in pursuit of developing this seriously sensuous relationship between Susie and Jared, their emotional journey has been penned down with detailed care. Kisses and touches all meaningfully accounted for on this roller-coaster ride.

Yay!!!!!!!
The Winters brothers are definitely something else, I'm tellin' ya!
This story was so cute and heartwarming. Again, the author made me fall in love with her descriptions of the scenery in the small Alaskan town.
Susie and Jared had instant chemistry, passion and they were so cute to read about. This story had many things that people could relate to, some more extreme than others. The storyline flowed and went at a good pace. I absolutely adore the relationships all these characters have with each other. Jared and Susie were enjoyable to read, and I liked seeing the characters from the previous books as well.
I love this series and was thrilled to receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Susie played matchmaker for three of her friends and pushed them to open up and let it go. Yet when she was in the hot seat she couldn't seem to practice her own advice. Jared is the complete opposite of Susie in many ways and their electricity is hard to miss. Great story development and I enjoyed catching up with the other couples along the way!!! I cant wait to continue to explore Alaska with Darren and Rosa! I was just waiting for him to find his girl!!! Thanks again Mrs. Crouch for another wonderful read!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book with all the characters from her previous books and the new thread of love with Susie and Jared. Ms. Croix's people are realistic and deep. They have believeable lives and fears. Her writing, with the descriptions of Diamond Creek, the fact that her characters have jobs and aren't billionaires, and just the real life day to day events that occur when two people are falling in love. Their passion is palpable, their fears gut wrenching, and the back stories are all too possible. Ms. Croix continues to touch hearts and should with her tender, passionate stories. I recommend her books to all romantics!!!
I love the realistic side of the book. Both having struggles for different reasons. Hers from something that had happened years before and never having the closure she needed to move on and losing the ability to trust. Him because he had tried to go down that road once before only to have it thrown back in his face. Getting a peek inside the lives of characters the way readers do allowed the feeling of being there with them.
One is a series of romances set in Diamond Creek, Alaska. Susie and Jared are not only working together but share the same friends. They have a strong attraction but also seem to irritate one another. Jared finds out Susie is not completely honest with him. Can they get past it? * I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Pretty good. The only thing I disliked was the indecisive nature of h and H. You make a decision and you live with the consequences as an adult instead of dithering like a child.
Susie has not been my favorite character since she is quick to anger, bossy, and feels that she needs to be in everyone's business because she's "helping." So it was probably good to have her as a main character so we could get inside her head a little more and understand her motivations. She's strong, but she came close to a date/rape experience, so she's leery about relationships and men, in general. She knows Jared well and has been attracted to him, but she's nervous. And when she begins to feel vulnerable, she often lashes out. I liked that she recognized that she wasn't practicing what she had been preaching, and she was willing to listen to her friends' advice. Jared is the older brother of Luke and Nathan. He's committed to being a bachelor after a failed past relationship, but he's attracted to Susie. He's just slow and steady, and he's at risk of losing her because of the quick-tempered, fast-to-action woman she is. There are a couple of exciting scenes in the wilderness, plus plenty of revisiting with former lead characters. It's a nice setting with some descriptions that really add to the Alaskan romance experience. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
I enjoyed the story. I think the Author creates a good story; however there is way to much overly graphic sexual dialogue. To me love scenes can be sensual, steamy, and romantic without being so graphic. As the story went on the love scenes got more graphic and just took away from being sensual and romantic. An important part of the storyline seemed to be over the fact that Susie Hammond is a virgin so that the graphic sexual dialogue started much earlier and more extensive throughout the story than the earlier books in this series. Also there were spelling and grammatical errors not expected from an experienced Author like this one. Though I wasn’t crazy about the sexually explicit dialogue I did like the storyline. I liked all of the characters in the book. I liked the relationship they had with one another. I liked the personalities of the main characters, Susie and Jared Winters. I liked the story of how their relationship developed I just didn’t think it needed to be so graphic. I liked the friendships they shared and the sense of Family both among relations such as with siblings and parents as well as those they are not related too. I also liked Susie’s cat, Jasmine.
The fourth in the Diamon Creek Series, I found this book so far the weakest - not bad, but not as captivating as the others. The main protagonists are Susie and Jared, both commitment-shy, and like fire and water: Susie a bit of a messie, and Jared loving his tidiness and order. The attraction is certainly there, what am I saying: it sizzles, however, both have to overcome past griefs, and then there is the year-long friendship between them and the others which might be in jeopardy if things between them go wrong. Although the protagonists were nice and on the whole quite realistic, their charasteristics did not quite fit, somehow - I cannot put my finger on what felt wrong with it, unfortunately, just a feeling while reading. The plot, the other well known characters from previous novels in this series, and the author's great way of weaving a story together however make up for this. Being a "weaker" book in my opinion does not make this a bad read at all.
Loved this book along with the rest in the series. Jared is very organized in every aspect of his life and thinks relationships are too messy to deal with. Susie is very organized in her work but the rest of her life is more or less a mess and she doesn't date at all since she was drugged and almost date-raped a couple years prior. They have been good friends for several years and get on each others nerves all the time. They finally get together and can't keep their hands off each other but neither knows how the other is really feeling but doesn't ask or say how they feel. Will they ever figure out that they love each other or will Jared's "relationships are too messy" attitude be the end of it. What will Jared do when Susie tells him about the almost rape and that is why she hasn't dated anyone?
I read this book 3rd because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen between Jared and Suzie. OMG, what an explosive couple!! I thought it was really neat that Love Untamed and Love Unbroken (book #3) have both stories intertwined. Reading each book gives clues into the other, whilst revealing juicy details about the current story. Jared and Suzie are both high-intensity characters, so the combination was wild, thus the appropriateness of a ‘love untamed’. Although I wished I could have just grabbed each of their shoulders and given a good shake at some point in the book, I was glad they stopped fighting in vain and let themselves find each other, finally.
Wow,wow, and more wow! Susie and Jared’s story tore at my heart! At times I wanted to shake Susie because of her stubbornness and her self righteousness! Sheesh she could be so annoying because she’s so stubborn! I hated that his unfortunate accident made these two open their eyes but it had to happen so these moronic individuals could wake up and smell the coffee! And thank goodness for a true sisterhood in which your closes loved ones always tell you the truth! Whether you like it or not. Thank goodness for Hannah, Tess and Emma! Ms busybody needs a reality check once and a while. Loved it. Exceptional read.
It surprised me to discover Susie never redeemed herself in my eyes. I expected in her own story to find out enough about her to end up understanding and liking her. Nope, she’s just not a character I liked. She’s such a busybody with her friends you’d think she’d at least be somewhat self aware. The fact that her friends condone her behavior mystified me. She’s one big red flag, from bossing everyone around to throwing her stuff around Jared’s home because he’s a neat freak. No , she’s like a teenage girl ,very immature. I actually felt bad that Jared settled for her. HEA for this book would have been for her to learn some hard lessons and for Jared to find someone else.
Wow, yet another great book! Jared and Susie have been friends for yrs, but something has changed in their dynamic. Friends have noticed forever that they can’t stop looking at each other, now they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other! This friends To Lovers book was sexy, a bit angsty and down right steamy! Susie spent so much time on her friends love lives, she never thought to focus on her own. Maybe this is just what her and Jared need! Check out this story today!
I enjoyed Susie and Jared’s story. Jared finally lightened up and Susie wasn’t so sure of herself as she was with her friends. It was good to see she had the same doubts.
I found it a bit annoying that almost nobody had “hair”. Everyone had“curls”… which is nice, but I thought it was a bit overdone. Also, the phrase, “could care less” is wrong. If someone doesn’t care at all, they “couldn’t care less”.
All that said, I’m enjoying this series very much and looking forward to the next installment.
