She thought she was alone. When it’s all over, she’ll wish she was.
Arista and Frees, having beaten the AI known as Charlie, now face new troubles. The Peacekeepers are still hunting the teenager and her autonomous friend as they try to release other machines from the Cadre’s grasp. And the worst part is, they’re still no closer to finding the secret to Arista’s heritage.
But when a mysterious call interrupts their fleeting attempts at liberating the machines—from someone claiming to be a human, no less—Arista knows she can’t ignore it, despite Frees fearing it’s a trap.
Only there is a catch. If Arista wants to know where this human came from, she’ll have to use the Quantum Gates to eliminate the second of the three AI’s before it can retaliate for Charlie’s destruction.
Despite her need to know more, Arista isn’t sure she can face another AI like Charlie. Now, more than ever, she’ll need to lean on the survival skills she’s used all her life if she hopes to succeed.

“She is ten times the person you are. She is unique.” Wow! What a wonderful series! Deliciously scary. I’m totally snagged and torn between two worlds, the human and the machines, they both have their pros and cons. A tumultuous, turbulent and emotional story, thought provoking and action packed. Just when I think everything is fine, along come more twists at every turn, so unexpected! The world building and characterization is excellent, very realistic. The covers of this series are fantastic, eye catching, with a very creative artistry. Next read, Triality book 3! A worth read, if I may say so!
"He was off being the hero. That was all well and good; being the hero was easy. But sometimes life meant making the hard choices, and that’s exactly what she intended to do."
Hard choices is right. Arista went through some rough stuff in this book, and she was a serious trooper! I enjoyed how the story progressed, but this book didn't grip me as much as the first one. However, I did like the growing friendship between all of the characters- and the introduction of new technology- and the discovery of more humans!
The one thing that kept bothering me in this book though was when the machines got in Arista's face about humanity ruining the planet, and getting pissed at her for being human. I mean, the machines did cause a mass genocide of the human race... so... glass houses?
Still enjoying the series though, and its on kindle unlimited rn...on to the next book!
