BOOK 1 - FIFTY YEARS OF FEAR
Could you forgive murder? What if it was something worse?
A childhood accident robs Vincent of his memories, causing him to become sensitive and anxious around others. His differences attract bullies, and he comes to rely heavily on the support of his family.
After the devastating loss of his parents, a remarkable woman teaches him to embrace life and, little by little, he realises the world is far more forgiving than he imagined. When fragments of his memory return, he begins to unravel his past.
Who was his mother? What kind of a man is his brother, Frank? And why does death surround them?
Fate is cruel. History is dark. Things are not as they seem.
Perhaps he should have stayed at home.
BOOK 2 - THE BOY INSIDE
Book 2 of the critically acclaimed Dark Lives Series

BOOK 3 - LAZY BLOOD
Will meets three boys on his first day at school. They become friends for life. A shocking event sends them out into the world on separate paths, but they remain in touch. As the years go by, their lives slowly unravel, and they begin to pull each other down. Set over thirty years, each chapter is a snapshot of a descent into ruin. How far does your loyalty go?
I was born in 1973 in Peterborough and lived there until I was 20, attending The King's School in the city. I then began a rather nomadic existence, living and working all over the country and various parts of the world.
I found myself returning to Peterborough many times over the years, usually when things had gone wrong. It was on one of these occasions that I met my partner about 100 metres from my back door whilst walking a dog. Two children swiftly followed. I'm still a little stunned by the pace of it now.
Fifty Years of Fear book was started a long time ago but parenthood and then after working in sales management all my life, i randomly spent four years as a prison officer. Ironically it was the four a.m. feed which gave me the opportunity to finish the book as unable to get back to sleep I completed it in the early morning hours.
I've now written five further books. My second book, The Boy Inside, was picked up by a publisher, and Lazy Blood is also out. All my books are thought provoking, and told with a sense of humour. Reading the reviews has been great.
The first three books are stand alone, however, some of the characters cross over, and you can see how at times, their lives overlap.
Abel's Revenge is something a bit different. It's a modern day love story set against the backdrop of an escalating serial killer. There's a whodunnit element to it, and some smiles along the way.
Shadows of Regret was inspired by my time on the women's side of the jail in Peterborough, and analyses the close relationship between victim and villain. You won't have read a book like it.
These three books each have interesting plots with intertwined characters. They are exciting and fast paced with a gritty feel which makes it possible for readers engage in the underworld they portray. The writer shows us the way in which we each make choices with consequences even if is just the choice of who your friends are. Introduced to life in prison in these pages the trilogy demands that the reader think about our penal system in new more informed ways. Read these books, they are entertaining but never lose the writer’s moral compass though some of his characters certainly do! Even then we know why they are taking the choices they make and the writer engages our sympathy for them, for their wasted potential and their loss of the good life in pursuit of the supposedly easy life. Thank you Ross, you still serve the prison service but in a different more far-reaching way than on the doors.
Greenwood writes interwoven stories that explore the penal system and how young men can fall into it in an almost haphazard fashion. You are left wondering are they at fault or just a victim of circumstance bad luck, the wrong influences, and circumstance. Throughout the series whilst you grimace wondering what will happen next there is great boyish humour and characters that develop as it zips along. Great reading and very thought-provoking
The first book was worth 4 stars, the second was interesting because it was the view from a minor character in the first. However, it started getting a little tiresome about 2/3s through and I started skimming. I only got in a chapter of the third before I just gave. up.
The first book I would give 4 stars was a bit of a slow burner then definitely a page turner and revealed things are not as they seem. Book 2 and 3 seemed to go down hill a bit with more prison stories, by book 3 I was losing interest.
