Interview with the Author

Q - Tell us a little bit about your Creatures of Darkness series

Creatures of Darkness is set in an alternate, post-apocalyptic future where vampires have openly admitted that they exist and the world is still trying to adjust. The first three books in the series follows Coraline Conwell who finds herself dropped dead-center into the largest know vampire clan. Though they claim to want to protect her, her past experience with vampires has left her terrified of their kind. So yeah, fun times.
Keeping His Siren is a spin-off from the original series and is a little lighter in attitude. It centers around Cortez and his clan, and all the antics they get up to.

Q – What order should I read the books in?/b>

Each book can be read in any order and the reader can still follow along, but for the full experience, I suggest the following sequence:

Keeping His Siren can be read at any time, as it was written to be completely separate from the original series. Below is the publish order.

- A Wicked Hunger
- A Wicked Night
- A Wicked Desire
- Keeping His Siren

Q - So, why should readers give these books a try?

This series is action-pact, seductive, heart-breaking, and filled with suspense. Paranormal romance fans are ravenous—I know, because I am one—and my Creatures of Darkness series hits the spot.

Readers have said my world building grabs their emotions from the start and doesn’t let go. It’s a series that draws you in and makes you long for more.

Readers who enjoy romance, alpha males, and intricate story telling will want to take this epic journey.

Q - What inspired the world you created in Keeping His Siren, having it take place in the future?

I’ve always been interested in sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, and mythology. I thought about the kind of romance novels I enjoy reading and what I liked about them: the idea that there could be a supernatural world within our own, veiled from sight? It intrigues my imagination.

I often imagine different futures and certain events might affect our world, and since I love the supernatural world, it only made sense to incorporate vampires. My futuristic world also contains witches, succubus, incubus, familiars, shifters, and many other creatures of the night.

The author returns to her Creatures of Darkness/ Evernight Chronicles world where Vampires are loud and proud after a dreadful war that decimated the world. In fact although this book works as a standalone it does return readers to those we met in Keeping His Siren although this time it's very much a human heroine that steps up to claim her Vampire !
Kasima meets Lex on a night out that shows her just what a sleezebag her boyfriend Brian really is. I can understand a commitment phobia but taking Kasima to a club and saying let's each have a free pass and pick someone else up before we get too serious really should have woken up her self respect ! Luckily Kasima rather than sitting drowning her sorrows ends up next to a Vampire who is both charming and respectful. Lex is every adjective a girl dreams of tall, dark, sexy and sizzling hot ! Ok he doesn't want forever but with the chemistry they share Kasima would be crazy not to jump his bones but oddly it's a night that Lex seems to want to keep repeating or does he ?
Ok this was one very steamy read with Lex appearing more like a Knight in shining armour than a nasty blood sucker. I actually kept waiting for some suspense or action to happen and eventually realised that the author wasn't taking her readers down that route and instead it was all about Lex and Kasima learning to trust their feelings for each other. There was a surprise at the end with a twist I hadn't seen coming and I'm left hoping the author will return to this world soon.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

This is my first Kiersten Fay book. As I am into Urban Fantasy right now, I decided to go for it. And I quite enjoyed the story, but I did not love it.

I did not understand Kasima at all. She agrees to a free-pass night with her boyfriend Brian? Wow, if Kasima was such a strong woman she would have pushed him out the door. In the end it is Kasima who hooks up with sexy vampire Lex which leaves Brian fuming.

Although written very well, the story was a bit tame overall. I never felt a real passion between the H/h, thought Lex too distant. It read really fast for me and I did enjoy it, but I am afraid the story won't cling in my memory for too long. It is book 5 in a series, but it read very well as a standalone.

*** I requested and received an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review. ***

This was my first book by Kiersten Fay and what a delight it was. This was a fantastic paranormal read. Very good characters development. Fast pace. Very steamy sex scenes. Some suspence in there too. The energy between Kasima and Lex was compelling. I need to read the first book in the story to understand this vampire clan even better.
I voluntarily reviewed this book and the opinion is all mine.

Kasmina’s boyfriend thinks they should spice up their relationship and go to Evernights for a masquerade ball that you can hook with anyone you want and go back to being yourself in the morning. Kasmina doesn’t want to sit and watch Brian with a bunch of women all night but she doesn’t want to find anyone either, but when a too dark and handsome stranger saves her from unwanted advances she figures what good for the goose is good for the gander. What Kasmina wasn’t prepared for was Lex, a powerful vampire that made love like she has never had before but the agree to be friends with benefits. The more they see of each other the more they like but a relationship like theirs could never go long term and they know it but their hearts aren’t getting the message and neither is Brian. Loved this story it kept you interested from the beginning till the end.

A super hot, paranormal romance story that I couldn't put down :)

Although I did enjoy this story, it has fallen into the category of books I refer to as “easy reads”. This is how I define books where nothing too deep, heavy or dramatic happens story plot wise. The story focuses mainly on the romance/attraction/sex aspects between the two main characters.

I liked the initial set-up for this story, although the situation itself is a ridiculous concept to me personally.
We have human female, Kasima, agreeing to attend a masquerade ball, held at the Ever Nights club with her so-called boyfriend, Brian. His idea is for them to have a night off from their relationship, a free-night, before their relationship progresses to the next level. Yeah right, serious alarm bells would be ringing for me with that idea, and his ass would be walking out the door, quickly.
While sitting alone, hurting and uncomfortable with the situation, Kasima is rescued from the unwelcome, wondering hands of another guest by the very sexy Lex, a male vampire who works at the club.
As the night progresses, Kasima comes to realise that Brian is having fun, therefore she might as well too and makes a deal with Lex that changes her life forever.

I'm glad the author decided not to try and hide the paranormal in this story, so we didn't have the standard freak out that always follows the reveal. A refreshing change for me.

I really liked both of the main characters Kasima and Lex, they worked well together and the sexual attraction was obvious from the start. I found myself knowing from early on that these two belonged together, even if the story tried to make me believe that this wasn't a possibility. Which leads me to another point of frustration with this story.
Lex made his feelings perfectly clear that this was an arrangement between Kasima and himself, that there would be no relationship, just a friends with benefits type of situation. The way this was stated and revisited throughout the story, made me believe there was going to be a reason/explanation at some point, why keep bringing it up otherwise? But no there wasn't a good reason or reveal of any type and it left me feeling that this whole emphasis was completely pointless.
I found the whole ex-boyfiend, Brian, thing very strange to be honest. He'd wanted this free night, was eager to take part and completely abandoned Kasima without thought. When things didn't go as he'd thought and he finds himself an ex, he goes quiet for a while only to reappear as a complete and utter psycho. It just didn't fit with the character I'd been reading about and I struggled to accept this complete character turn about. But without it, we wouldn't have a story at all.

A good story, though confusing in places character wise for me, intriguing characters, I wanted to know more about, lots of humour and wow seriously hot scenes. I'd certainly recommend this to fans of paranormal romance and I'm definitely going to continue reading this series.

The Vampire Masquerade by Kiersten Fay is the second book in the Ever Nights Chronicles and the first book I’ve read by this author. After a global war between vampires and humans Riverside is a town founded by vampires but where humans peacefully live side by side with vampires. Evernights is a vampire-run club that holds an annual masquerade ball where anything goes. Kasima has reluctantly accompanied her boyfriend and co-worker Brian to the ball supposedly for them each to have one final fling before settling down. This being all Brian’s idea though and he soon disappears with four women leaving an uncomfortable Kasima sitting alone in the bar. When she is hit on by a man who thinks she’s playing hard to get, she’s rescued by Lex, the head of security at the club and a vampire to boot. After a couple of drinks and seeing that Brian is about to get down and dirty in a ménage she decides that maybe a fling isn’t such a bad idea after all and goes with Lex back to his room where, lets just say, there are fireworks galore. Unfortunately though, Brian isn’t quite so lucky and takes the view that Kasima is under some kind of vampire compulsion and he has to rescue her.

While I enjoyed this book I did find myself getting frustrated with Kasima. She didn’t seem to have much of a backbone when it came to men. She didn’t want to go to the club but she still followed Brian there like a sheep. Fair enough it did lead to her meeting Lex, I would just have preferred her to stand up for herself a bit more. It was the same with Lex. She agreed to being “friends with benefits” because this was all he wanted even though she soon developed feelings for him and obviously wanted more. I would’ve liked to know more about Lex as well. The book does tell us towards the end how he became a vampire but it didn’t explain why he was so reluctant to commit to Kasima and why he quickly backed off the minute he felt things were getting a bit too intense.

Although this wasn’t the first book I don’t feel that this affected my enjoyment in any way. There were no obvious spoilers and I’ll have no hesitation in now reading the first book.

From the first page, this book created a sexy, glamorous otherworldly environment, infused with humanity. Kasima Wilder is an editor for a local paper in over her head and lying to herself about the state of her relationship. When her boyfriend, Brian pitches the idea of a pass for the evening, to attend the once a year, exclusive Ball that allows vampires and mortals to mingle in a decadent anything-goes environment, she reluctantly agrees. This was meant to be their last moment of freedom before settling down. The problem is, it’s a moment she didn’t need.

Posted at the bar, she watches Brian wine and dine, other ladies, until an aggressive man brings a vampire to her rescue. Lex is a masculine, lithe, strong vamp, with a sense of humor and thoughtfulness. The passion that boils up between them explodes on the pages, but their road is not an easy or clear-cut one.

I don’t want to give away too much, but Ms. Fay did an excellent job of keeping Kas independent despite her how smitten she was. A young professional, she balanced her dating life with work, and we caught glimpses of the world she lived in. One that existed after a war between humans and vampires ravaged the world we knew and forced them to rebuild.

The best part about this book was how many moving parts it had. Adventure, romance, misunderstanding, and character growth kept me turning the pages. There were times when I wanted to shake Kas, but in the end, she didn’t let me down. I saw her mature and come into her own, which is one of my favorite things to experience with a female lead. I enjoyed the story, but I longed to know more about the world briefly mentioned.

If I wasn’t hooked on vampires with Fay’s first Ever Nights book, I am now. A lot of us can relate to that guy who suddenly shows another, less likeable side eventually after a relationship has gotten serious. Kasima’s boyfriend, Brian, turns into a jerk and talks her into a “free pass” night at Ever Nights. Big mistake for him, as she has a run-in with a hot vampire (Lex) at the club while sitting at the bar wishing the creeps would leave her alone and for the night to just get over with. The pages are already steaming by the end of the very first chapter, and the steam hardly lets up through the rest of the book. The steamy scenes are tastefully done though, and there is an underlying story that tugs at your heart strings as what is supposed to be a “friends with benefits” thing between Kasima and Lex turns into something more. There is also some drama/action near the end that will make you stay up too late to see what happens, as Brian just won’t let her go.
Although quite a few of the characters are from the previous Ever Nights book, this could be read as a standalone, as the main character is new and Ever Nights is new to her, so the author does a good job explaining the club and the rest of them.

I did receive a copy of Fay’s book in exchange for an honest review; however, I quickly bought up a box set with this book in it so I'd have my own final copy.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

What a fun read as Kasima meets sexy Lex, a vampire. Overall, I enjoyed the book and the instant attraction between them. There were only a couple things that bothered me.

I was not sure if I really like Kasima at first as she seemed to be such a passive "doormat" that she would go along with her boyfriend's idea of a one night free pass for cheating. Good thing, at this party, she meets Lex.

I really wish we got a little explanation for Lex's actions and reponses, he would seem normal then ignore Kasima for weeks but we did not every hear his POV. Yeah, I get that he was not into relationships but I would have loved to know what he was thinking.

With an ARC,I know that we are supposed to ignore errors in spelling, but I kept seeing the same mistake and it got annoying - wonton is a soup, for a wild woman it is wanton! Just had to get that off my mind - it really was driving me crazy!

I loved the drama with the ex-boyfriend, and was surprised about the nice Mr. Dixon! Brian really was a wack job and could not believe he set Kasima up at the award dinner.

I have not read Cortez and Naia's story but it sounds interesting and I will have to read their story.

Another amazing read by Mrs. Kiersten Fay! I absolutely loved this story set in the Creatures of Darkness world. You don't have to have read the others (I've only read Keeping His Siren) to read and enjoy this love story. Knowing Naia and Cortez definitely adds a little bit extra which is always welcome, but you can certainly get through it without the past knowledge of them.

The Vampire's Masquerade starts off essentially where Keeping His Siren leaves off with two completely different main characters with Ever Nights as the backdrop. Kasima is an interesting mix of independent woman and dreamy heroine. I enjoyed her very much. Lex is sweet and funny and all around a lot fun. This story was far more of a sweet romance than Mrs. Fay's normal bent of action and drama. I think of this as a cute little interlude since the story is really a fairly straightforward romance with just a smidge of drama and action thrown in to keep them on their toes. You could almost call this a Cinderella romance (societal differences being key) with a bit of fang thrown in for fun. All in all I fell in love with both characters by the end and loved the crew of Ever Nights that much more.

When Kasima's supposed serious boyfriend Brian shows just what a sleazebag he is while they are out at a club (what kind of guy asks for a hall pass when out with his girl) instead of drowning her sorrows she decides to be respectful to herself and just sits and has a quiet drink. A hunk of a man sits beside her he his tall dark and handsome everything a girl could wish for he also happens to be a vampire. Lex doesn't want forever after he only wants a good time but there is something about the little human that attracts him. He meant to only be for one night so why does he keep going back to her. This is a steamy read but the main focus is on the two main characters learning to trust one another but they won't have smooth sailing as Brian has no intention f letting Kasima go and Lex will have to prove his love and fight for her.

I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review

The Vampire's Masquerade: Ever Nights Chronicles by Kiersten Fay is book 5 in the Creatures of Darkness series. This is the story of Lex Stirling and Kasima Wilder. I have not read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Kasima's boyfriend Brian talks her into them having a 'night off' from their relationship to sow so oats before they settle down and what better way then at the Ever Nights Annual Masquerade Ball. The ball is thrown at the Vampire Night club where on that night anything goes. What Kasima didn't settle was meeting Lex one of the Vampires that work at the club. Kasima has lived in Riverstone but never actually interacted much with the vampires there. Sparks fly that night that changes them both. I enjoyed this book but I wish there was more input with Lex's point of view and that Kasima stood up for herself more...although if she had she might not have met Lex.

It was an ok read. I wasn't bored at all! Considering that this is not a first book in the series. I was still able to read without feeling lost and not giving away the other stories. Lex seems very sexy, but he is distant with his relationship with her. He is not looking for a relationship. The female Kasima wasn't clingy at all. She stayed strong throughout this read! Brian has some issues, he just needed some help. He didn't even really try to get her back, but I did find myself really wanting to know how Lex felt and his POV. Not having that really hindered this story. If we could have had that it would have been the cherry on top!

Review of Vampire’s Masquerade

He convinces her to a free night where both are allowed to do anything with anyone. What he never expected is the women would shoot him down and she would meet Lex and have the most amazing night of her life. Gotta love karma. She is a hard working female that wants a relationship where she can trust and love and be loved. She will have to decide between an ex who wanted his free night and a vampire who wants a no strings attached. The story has a few twists that really keep it going and give you a surprise ending. Some action a some hot scenes.

I truly don’t think this story was for me. Whilst I did enjoy the storyline itself and was excited to see where it would be going to next, I was just not enjoying how the story as a whole was told, and I felt like it could’ve been greatly improved. My overall rating is 2.5 stars and so that goes to show that I did enjoy some aspects of this story - like the romance, the action, and the paranormal aspect of it all - but all in all I just found this book to be cringy, not written in a way that did the story justice, and just... it was a story that was just not for me, unfortunately.

I loved this book. Kasima, talked into going to a vampire masquerade party by her loser boyfriend, agrees, however, he wants them both to have a "free pass" for the night where anything goes, including sex with other people. Even though Kasima is hesitant to do this, she agrees, to make her boyfriend happy. When they get there and get separated, Kasima is saved by Lex, a very hot vampire, from the affections of other vampires, so Kasima figures, what the heck, maybe she should have sex with Lex! Like I said, great book, great read.

Intense!

The intense attraction between Lex and Kas began as a slow burn as they met at a vampire masquerade. Kas had been asked by her bf for a free pass night where they both could experience a night of fun with someone else before he would settle down with her, and so began the story. As things heat up between Kas and Lex her ex, feeling angry and humiliated, begins plotting against them.
A fun ride with lots of hot steamy scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed this. There were a few spelling and grammar mistakes at the beginning that distracted me a bit but all in all I love this series.

Would you agree to a one-night "free pass"? This is the question Kasima has to face. It is also why she finds herself at a masquerade ball watching her boyfriend "flirt" with other women. It's also why she ends up having fun with a stranger. What happens when the night ends? Does it have to end? Is Kasima's relationship what she truly wants? Will this "little dove" find her wings or will jealousy destroy all? So many questions that I won't answer. You will have to read to find them.

Vampire's Masquerade is the 4th book in the Creatures of Darkness series and a follow up to Keeping his Siren. Lex and Kasima meet at the Ever Nights club and it's instant attraction - what is initially meant to be a one night stand turns into a steamy affair with a bit of a surprise ending. It was nice to be reacquainted with the rest of the Ever Nights characters and I hope to see more of their stories.

Kasima and Lex were both great characters and had great chemistry. Kasima 's boyfriend was a real jerk. I loved how this story progressed as Kasima ended up being such a strong character and seemed to come into her own. Lex was a vampire and he really was a knight in shining honor and helped out Kasima first in the club and again and again. This was just a fun and steamy read all around. Loved it!

Another Winner for Kiersten Fay. I loved all of the glimpses of the other characters in the past series. Lex and Kasima's story was full of adventure and steam. When you live in a town where both mortals and immortals coexist, you just have to go to the Evernights Club...especially when it is their annual masquerade. Kasima attends the masquerade where she meets Lex. The danger and suspense leads to an adventure wrapped in questions and love. One of my favorite vampire series thus far...love that each book can be read as a stand-alone also.

I liked this book. Kasima has a inner monologue about her feelings that was really natural. It was in a third person, but only focused on Kasima. She and Lex met at the annual masquerade when her boyfriend Brian wanted to have a free pass, she didn’t. She falls for Lex and they have a strong connection. A bunch of crazy stuff happens in the end, but it’s a HEA overall.

Enjoyable page turner! The “free pass” is always such an interesting idea...until the game takes a turn in a direction you wouldn’t have guessed. Our MC has a little eye opener on her current situation and life takes a sexy and adventurous turn. Great character/world building - loved how this story blended some of our past characters too! As always, looking forward to my next Kirsten Fay.
