Jennie L. Morris’s book Drawn in Shadows had me hooked from the start. It’s the third book in The Albion series. One of my favorite things about this series is that every book is a stand alone story all based in the same place in the late 1800’s. Drawn in Shadows follows the story of Mabel Blackwood, a sheltered woman in medical school, who at her uncles request travels across town to a world very different from own. Along the way she befriends people she would have never encountered. After meeting Henry, one of the workers at La Madison Bleue, for the first time in her life she has to decide to follow her heart, or her head.
Jennie L Morris did a wonderful job with the details of the book. I felt like I am standing alongside Mabel on Carlyle Street. Her description of several medical procedures performed in the story caught my interest and had me hooked. I can’t wait to see what new stories Jennie L Morris comes up with next.
