Perjury Proof, Donut Mystery #38 From New York Times Bestselling Author, Jessica Beck. A pie shop is opening up in April Springs, but the owner is as sour as her pies are sweet! When she’s murdered a few days before the grand opening, too many folks in April Springs had reasons to want to see the woman gone. Suzanne and Grace dive into the case, hopefully in time to save the next victim on the killer’s to-do list!
Jessica Beck is a pseudonym used by Tim Myers. Jessica Beck is the penname of an author who has been nominated for the Agatha Award and named an Independent Mystery Booksellers Association national bestseller nearly a dozen times.
Jessica Beck loves donuts, and has the figure to prove it. It's amazing what people can convince themselves is all in the name of research! For each recipe featured in the donut mysteries, a dozen more are tried and tested.
When not concocting delicious treats, Beck enjoys the rare snowfalls near her home in the foothills of North Carolina.
I've been a sucker for freshly baked pies since I was a little girl, so when I heard that Sky High Pie was going to open in our little town of April Springs, North Carolina, I was the first to celebrate the news.
The owner of the new pie shop has an argument with Suzanne and then ends of dead. Of course, Suzanne and Grace immediately start investigating to find the killer.
I have skipped around a bit in this series since there are now 50 books. I admit that I tend to read them for book cover color or series number for challenges.
It always amazes me how much Suzanne gets away with while sticking her nose into murders. I'm also amazed that there are any citizens left in the small town.
I do love the donut recipes in the book. Suzanne also talks Grace through making a chicken pie which was nice. A few less calories than the donuts.
I pretty much figured out the killer soon after the murder. It was still an enjoyable, quick read.
There is a new shop in town, or about to be soon. A pie shop is opening and it is just down the street from Donut Hearts. Will this be the death of already struggling Suzanne’s donut shop? An argument breaks out in the donut shop and then spills out into the street. The police discover a dead body a short distance away, but this time it is the police are the ones that find the body. What will the evidence show, a murder or a homicide?
Wow! Can't believe I read 38 books in a Series in a row!! Interesting all the way through... never got bored either with the characters or the storylines.. Have to hand it to the author!! Fabulous work!! and the last one ... amazing twist in the last chapter!! Really enjoyed the last 3 months of reading!!
Another great mystery that keeps you guessing till the very end. I've read every one of Jessica Beck's books and have had a wonderful time. My imagination follows the ride and I feel that I know everyone....good work...keep more coming.
A fun visit to April Springs. Suzanne and Grace are once again investigating after the owner of the soon to open pie shop is found murdered. The woman is local shop owner, Gabby's, cousin and several people are suspects. I love the small and charming town of April Springs, the characters, and the great donut recipes. I can't wait to see what's next for Suzanne, Grace, and their friends and family!
