Ray Hogan (1908-1998) was born in Missouri but spent his life in New Mexico. His father was a Western marshal and lawman. He has written over 100 books. His work has been translated into 16 languages and filmed.
Maybe not the best story, as far as action. At the same time, a decent diversion into the old west. At times seemed like it was cut short. Like the author would have made some details or scenes longer. Yet had to do quick version, to make publisher allowed space limit.
Think if larger story. Could have resolved things better fashion. If that makes sense.
