Rate this book
In 2007 Hiroshi Yoshioka, Professor of Aesthetics and Media Arts at Kyoto University, was invited by the Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM) to participate in a year-long Meet the Artist project, working with local citizens in Yamaguchi on a collaborative work of art. The result is this book, a bilingual Japanese-English celebration of the local culture of Yamaguchi City, photographs, drawings, and essays by members of the community itself, consciously set against dominant representations of Yamaguchi in the national media and tourist industry.
