Restoring The Pelvic Floor: How Kegel Exercises, Vaginal Training, And Relaxation, Solve Incontinence, Constipation, And Heal Pelvic Pain To Avoid Surgery
This book is for any woman who has avoided the trampoline or yoga class for fear of urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse. If you have pelvic pain, dyspareunia, vaginismus, vestibulodynia, vulvodynia, lichen sclerosis, endometriosis, androgen insensitivity syndrome (AIS), MRKH, or tailbone pain (coccydynia), this book is for you. If you suffer from constipation, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, or overactive bladder, this book is also for you.
This book quickly and easily teaches you how to manage conditions related to the pelvic floor, bladder, uterus, and bowel directly from a certified pelvic floor physical therapist who regularly treats women just like you in her clinic.
With a tasteful sense of humor, and compassion, Dr. Olson explains how to cure urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse using different types of Kegels. If you’re prone to urinary urgency, you’ll learn which foods to avoid. Constipated? Dr. Olson will teach you how to solve it.
The pelvic floor muscles are a vital system of muscles that support the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, and rectum). These muscles can be too weak, too tight, or have poor coordination that can lead to issues with urination, defecation, pelvic pain, and intercourse. The good news is that these issues are solvable with natural remedies. Furthermore, learn how a pelvic physical therapist in your area can provide additional one on one help and specific kinds of treatment to address women’s health issues.

As a physical therapist (orthopedic but not pelvic certified), this book is an excellent look into the treatment methods and philosophies of pelvic floor PT. I picked up this book at a Women in Sports conference after meeting Amanda Olsen and have since referred many patients to it as well as referenced it in my own practice. As an early-career professional, it’s recently come to my attention just how underserved women are in medicine (men as well when it comes to pelvic issues). I’m doing my part in educating myself to advocate for these women (for example, treating a “groin strain” or “chronic Achilles tendinitis” that is actually due to pelvic floor dysfunction and imbalances) and this book is a great resource for my clinic and my patients.
Due to some recent health issues, I have been learning a lot about my pelvic floor. I felt like this book gave me a nice overview and so much to think about and look into more. There were a lot of helpful practical tips and exercises and I found the book to really help me get a start into this new area of health care, imminent and preventative. An excellent resource for every woman 25+. This is something we should be talking about, normalizing, and seeking relief in. We don't need to suffer in silence!
This book is so good with pics for core exercise s. They have incontinence breathing techniques & I never even heard of that. Lots of tips for incontinence & other issues. So helpful if you have incontinence issues with different techniques.
Excellent how-to. Very helpful. Written in a very user-friendly mode, and with a lot of informational tips and comments. I will likely use as a resource more than once again.
