Jack’s throwing a party, and someone’s planning on crashing it. Now that Mira has returned to Lestaron Island, each day has forced him to juggle his place within the small-town community against his own darker impulses. When Jack receives an offer to ally himself with a group of ancient Valerian vampires living near The Origin, the fabled vampiric homeland, he’s forced to take more than just his own well-being into account. Enemies become allies, lies become truth, and blood flows freely. For how long can Jack meet the gaze of a monster before becoming one himself? WARNING: This book contains graphic sex, a slow building harem, and increasingly disconcerting moral dilemmas.
Hey, I'm Edmund Hughes. I like to write fantasy novels with strong erotic themes, gratuitous amounts of sex and violence, and offensive humor. If that's what you're looking for, you've come to the right place.
Probably deserves 5 stars but I just have difficulty handing out that fifth star.
Just finished this tantalizing third edition to this ongoing story, and I must say this series is starting to come into it's own. Edmond is weaving a lovely mythology in Jack's world and we get a peek into the larger framework in this installment.
What I loved about this installment.
* #1 by far the best depictions of erotic scenes so far in the series.
* the introduction of new and interesting antagonistic elements. many twists and turns in the plot, kept me guessing to nearly the end.
* it felt like a complete story yet part of a larger narrative.
* did I mention the great sex scenes?
* Jack becoming more confident and competent, yet still maintaining his sort of bumbling through it charm.
I'm now at the end of the third book of this series after thinking there will be some personal growth in these characters. Yet again I am disappointed. The premise had so much potential. Being forced into vampirism and trying to keep your humanity while at the same time finding out that your grandfather and oldest friend were involved in the affairs of the supernatural makes for a great story in theory. But our MC and the main potential love interest are infuriating. MC is a pushover and takes every action without a thought of consequences. At the same time his childhood friend turned potential love interest is bipolar beyond realism and blames him for everything that happens knowing full well she is responsible for him being pushed into this world, leaving him alone to deal with it, then comes back in to call him an idiot and play with his emotions before leaving again. This same circle of events continues to play our from the beginning of book one up to now. There is still very little real world building or character progression for the MC or even the most minor of characters. And as you go from book to book, the author forgets or retcons personality traits or how one character feels about another. I'm exhausted and disappointed. I cant make myself finish the series at this point. It's a real shame. It could have been great.
The third book in the series has Jack throwing a party, which doesn't go so well with the return of Mira. Jack eventually gets involved with a group of ancient Valerian vampires living near the fabled vampiric homeland. With Katie in tow, Jack is forced to take more than his own well-being into account. Enemies become allies, lies become truth, and blood flows freely. How long can Jack keep going before becoming a monster himself?

A very good read. In places it got confusing and hard to navigate, but eventually it works out. Although I was quite disjointed in the Katie character.
A member of the order of Chaldea turns up at Jacks party and makes him an offer he finds difficult to refuse. Mira also persuades Jack to visit the Jade Circle, a group of vampires who live in the Emerald keep. So Jack and group go off to visit the vampires. Once there a lot of action takes place and Jack gets into awkward situations as usual. A good follow up to the previous book.
