A DIFFERENT READ BUT A GREAT ONE ... THE KING FAMILY MIGHT NOT HAD IT ALL TOGETHER BUT TOGETHER AS A FAMILY THEY HAD IT ALL ... TO LEARN THE TRUTH IN THE END ABOUT MR JAMES WAS A SHOCKER HOW THINGS PLAYED OUT BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE...
I almost gave up on this book right away because for one, too many characters were being introduced and secondly, it dealt with 'roots'. But then the characters had personalities and the relationships with each other as siblings developed rather quickly and it was like reading about any family with idiosyncrasies. And the whole roots thing was more mystery and speculation that left a lot to the reader's imagination. Truly well done and engaging. I loved the family and how they loved on and supported each other. (Well, for the most part.) Enough twists and drama to make it a page turner but not so suspenseful that you need to put it down for fear of heart palpitations. Very enjoyable read. One star reduced for editing, mostly towards the end.
After reading one of her novels I searched for LaVonda & put all her books I que by release date. Her characters are complex at times; they each have their own identity that goes into the storyline. This book was great...a page turner that kept you engaged until the last sentence. That ending tho... left a lot of unanswered questions, I guess we can use our imaginations.
OMG this was such a good. The storyline flowed so well. The suspense from the book had my attention since the lady came to Teresa's lower shop. The things the family had to face after their mothers death was crazy. This was most definitely a edge of the seat read. As a first read by this author I can really say I enjoyed this book.
This is one of those books that not everyone is going to like or read because of the content. It was a very interesting story. There is still some things that need to be explained. It would be nice if their was a follow up book. You will see chapter 21 twice but it is 2 different chapters. At the end I was lost on who Frank is.
I must admit, it started off real slow and I was almost reluctant to keep going. Whew, glad I did. I enjoyed this book and all the secrets or not of the King family!
I absolutely loved the story line of this book. I connected with the characters. The ending left me with a lot of unanswered questions. It’s seems to be a lot missing as if not finished. Maybe there’s another part to continue
This book have a lot of twist and turns I love the story line.. I read this book in one night because I wanted to find out what happened at the of the story. I would recommend this book to every one I know that one a kindle. To the author keep writing great story . And I look forward to a part 2.
Good read! I love a book about some family secrets! A lot of craziness going on, but I must say I love the way these sister and brothers stuck together. I wish I had a Josiah in my fam.
