Five-time author Jen Lucas returns with a dozen lacy shawls to knit three some are wedges, some are crescents, and others are half-circles. And they all start at the top! Cast on just two or three stitches and watch your shawl grow row by row. Both charted and written instructions for making each shawl are included, so you can choose your favorite way to follow along.
Next, unleash your inner designer with templates for wedge, crescent, and half-circle shawls, along with 18 stitch patterns to mix and match in mesmerizing one-of-a-kind projects. Beautiful outdoor photography features each project in a nature setting, and each shawl is shown on a model, so you can see options for wearing the shawls you make.
While I didn't note any of the patterns to make, I liked the projects, the layout, and I loved that the author put in a Mark Your Own section and explained a few of the shawl styles. It was laid out nicely for the reader.
I received an ARC of this book to read through Edelweiss in exchange for a fair review. Top Down Shawls by Jen Lucas is a collection of a dozen patterns for lacy shawls in 3 basic shapes, wedge, crescent and half-circle. The instructions are clear and concise with both charts and written instructions for each shawl. Lots of beautiful photos of projects made with gorgeous yarn and a section on designing your own shawls as well as ideas to personalize your project. I’d be delighted to add this book to my collection and am going to drop large hints that it would make a great Christmas Gift. I haven’t had a chance to knit any project from this book yet. However I am finding it very useful, with beautiful patterns, very well presented in writing and on charts. I think it is good for the beginners and more advanced lace knitters.
