Barbara Bull and her family have been nurturing the ground at Cherry Point near Little Point Sable, Michigan since 1949, when her father and mother bought the acreage to grow cherries. She and her siblings were part of the venture from an early age, and in 1962 working the cherry stand became Barbara's full-time, permanent job.
Fifty years later, she has compiled a book of memories, impressions, observations and tributes, with artwork and photographs to illustrate her compelling and moving story. Sometimes sweet, sometimes sad, sometimes silly, often wise, these are vignettes that will touch anyone who has ever visited Cherry Point Market and wondered how it got there. It's a chronicle of determination, hard work, good and bad luck. It's a farm story but also a story of family, friends and fun. From Fish Boils to Lavender Labyrinths, to the mysterious farmhand Frenchy, life at Cherry Point comes alive as Barbara celebrates her half-century milestone.
I loved this glimpse into the timeline and life of Author Barbara Bush owner of Cherry Point Farms. Some of the little stories are really interesting and others make you chuckle. I can see through this book how Barbara puts so much of her own life in her book series of Katherine MacLoed. This is a quick read and I recommend it to everyone who is from Western Michigan.
