My name is Lia, just your average sixteen year old bear shifter, or so I thought. The night of my first shift, I found out it was all a lie. Not only am I adopted, but I'm not a bear shifter at all. I'm taken away from the only home I've ever known and thrust into a life I know nothing about. Now I'll have to learn to navigate the social structure of this new clan I know nothing about and survive a boarding school for shifters like me. Thankfully I meet a group of guys the same age as I am who want to help me fit in. Throw in a prophecy this clan swears is true, and there is a recipe for adventure and a whole heap of trouble headed my way.
Loved this story line. I’m very interested in seeing where it goes. Now for the cons the book needs some editing and it drove me crazy how many times the author felt the need to tell us Lia is surprised how much she now eats. Once or twice would have been fine.
Wow! I love this book!! Amelia, on her 16th Birthday gets quite a few surprises. I won’t ruin it and tell you what they are. These surprises cause her to have to move away, go to a new school and meet all new people. Though she misses her Mom, Dad and little brother, she slowly settles in and starts to feel comfortable. A few new, ahem, “friends” take her in immediately and make her feel right at home. During this time she keeps getting hit left and right with one startling revelation after another. How will she ever keep it all straight?! Luckily her new “family” is there to help her. But, there is trouble lurking that no one is aware of. I CANNOT wait for the next installment!! The only bad thing about this book is that it ended too soon. The author did an amazing job of building the characters and their personalities. The book flows so smoothly and sucks you in so well that you don’t even realize you’ve read the entire thing until you’re hit with the Epilogue page. Well played ma’am, well played!
Nightfall is an emotional story that will grab you from the first page. This story has a young woman trying hard to find herself and where she fits in a shifter world when things turn out to be not what they seemed. You will go through all of her emotions will her from excitement, to sorrow, to anger, and finally to acceptance. I would suggest this book to everyone. It had me almost crying within the first few chapters and then feeling every emotion thereafter. Rose is an amazing new author who not only guides you through the world she's created but instead transports you there through her words.
Please keep in mind that this is a YA and Lia is only 16, so it is written accordingly. The writing is fast paced and simple, so it is an easy and quick read. I love that we have a young heroine who really has a lot of obstacles to overcome. She is not who she was raised to be and has to face a lot of very drastic changes in a short amount if time. However, she is relatively young and has been seemingly sheltered her entire life. This leads to a lot of whining, tantrums, and immature behavior. Normally this absolutely irritates me but she is quick to process and keep moving forward. We were only given a glimpse of her mates in this book but I can't wait to learn and see more of them in the future. This first of the series has really set Lia up, and I hope to see her grow a lot as a person, especially as classes begin and she gets closer to her mates and her new family. So while the series has just begun, we only get the foundation of the story which ends in a way that we can get into some really interesting plot and world building in the next book. I look forward to reading more.
I kinda feel like a bitch cause everyone else rated the book so high. Normally I love this type of book but this one was iffy. The characters were cool, the plot wasn't bad...buuuuut it jumped around like crazy, Lia acts like a preteen girl who just started her period for the first time and a pregnant woman all wrapped up in one, mood swings, the crying randomly...I mean I get the girl was taken from her family but it's not forever and Jack tried rather hard to be supportive and all she did was scream and shriek like a banshee or cry or get excited over shopping. Also some of it seemed crazy rushed with little build up and it also jumped around as well and quite a bit seemed forced becase of the lack of build up. Over all a 2.5 sorry for all those that really loved it. I will however read book 2 simply to find out what happens and honestly I finished this book in one evening so it's not like it will take time away from much.
Fantastic YA story. Its hard for me to find a fantasy or paranormal books that I am willing to give my 15 year old son to read. I mean some fade to black scenes are fine, but most of them have way more detail then I'm willing to give him at the moment. This book is different, the storyline is intriguing and kept my interest throughout. I'm going to give it to my son now that I'm done reading it. I'm sure he will love it as much as I did. Lia and her friends are an interesting group and mix of common, noble and royal shifters set to attend Nightfall academy. I like how some of the situations can be helpful for teens reading this story. Situations that I think teens today can relate to like starting a new school, making new friends, mean girls etc. It is relatable on that level. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next in Lia and her family's story!
This book had kępy my attention from The very First page where Lia was introduced. She's a bear shifter, but what if some events from the past will make her something else? Will that put her life upside down? Add to it that she has to move to the other clan, attend boarding school and survive which probably in next books won't be that easy. I liked Lia, as she was not exactly whiny but still, she had her thoughts as it should be - unsure of what will happen next. We Are also introduced to the way cat shifters society works with mates and family created in an unconventional way. Join Lia on her way to live as a different shorter she was supposed to become! Will she manage? And this book add academy trope later which I like very much!
RH or why choose is R18+. FLC is 16. The theory behind this story is good, unfortunately for ME, from the first sentence, it didn’t follow through. Very simplistically written, aimed at 16yo or younger. Kinda disappointed as that’s an hour of my life gone. As I said, this is my opinion, you get to make your own. All credit to the author, I couldn’t write a book if I tried.
This book came up as a suggested read on my Kindle app. I love RH and academy books so I was excited to stumble across something new. Overall the book had promise but just wasn't my style. It was very juvenile writing and the heroine's actions were almost middle schoolish.
This book was very short which didn't lend itself much time for world building. I felt events were rushed and I was completely missing key pieces of information. There were so many characters thrown our way that I couldn't keep them all straight. Add in the shifter animals having their own separate identities made it even more confusing. This was a unique way to write a shifter personality and could have been a great addition if everything was flushed out more. Instead I felt like I was dealing with just too many characters I didn't know enough about.
I am not planning to continue the series but I hope it gets better. If you're into young adult story lines, this may be right up your alley. For me, I'll stick to more adult academy RH. That's more my cup of tea.
Sorry no spoilers included, well I’m going to try not to that is. Kitties galore lol basically any that you can think of are in this book, and that’s the only spoiler I’m going to give you! This book was awesome and very addicting, I was hooked before I even finished the first chapter and I stayed completely hooked until I got to the end of the story! Rose Alexander is definitely very good at weaving her story so good that I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series! I have a feeling she’s going to become one of my new favorite authors. :) So yes I most definitely do recommend this book because I thought it was a totally fantastic story to get completely lost within!
I really enjoyed this! Very slow burner but still a great read. Young girl grows up thinking she's a bear, wanting to join her friends and the next part of her life. But to be shown she isn't, everything she knew was wrong. Sent to a island where the big cats rule, to find out she could be killed for what she is.
RH isn't thrown in your face, it grows slowly and it's nice. The characters are described lovely, they are all shifters but different ones. I enjoy books when they are different ,can't wait to find out what happens in the next book
You find out in the end, she has a target on her head
Recommended!

It's a light academy read. The plot does not flow very well. The dialog and the plot are choppy and could have used ore time to straighten, plus it could use another round of editing.
High school style academy books are not my typical read. I actually try to avoid them because immature whiney characters are not likeable. Kia is very whiney, and the guys cater to her. There is also no relationship build-up, which I suppose makes sense considering cats have voices in their heads to dictate them.
Really, I can't tell yet off I like the series enjoy to want to re-read it again, but I could continue the series.
Pro: - The blurb wasn't horrid and it's on KU Cons: - Everything else - No world building, character development, relationship building or reason to emotionally invest in any of the characters - Unnatural reactions from the characters given their ages/ life situations - The plot was extremely predictable and overused without distinguishing differences Conclusion: This was just bad writing all around and I'll make sure that I don't read anything else by this author.
What a great start to a new series! Amelia is looking forward to her 16th birthday, she will finally be able to shift and meet her bear, however, things do not quite go as planned and her life changes drastically.
Things start looking up when she meets Jack and the guys she is about to start going to school with. This is a clean romantic ya shifter reverse harem, it’s a great read with characters who will just melt your heart and an exciting storyline which is beautifully paced and a lovey read
This is a really unique story. For a YA story it it pretty good. I am interested to see where it goes. While there are a few things that I found a bit repetitive, its didn't really affect the story. It runs at a good pace and has an easy read feel to it. I am looking forward to seeing the growth the main character is sure to have. She goes through a lot in a short time and is quite young to have to deal with such revelations. Overall, I enjoyed it and I will definitely read the next book.
Ya. Paranormal. Rh. 5 cat shifters. Academy setting. Lost Royalty. Prophecy. On Lia's 16th Birthday and her first shift, she finds out she's adopted and not a bear at all. She must go to a segregated academy to learn how to control her cat. I liked it. The guys seem fun and the story is entertaining. Lia feels like she could grow into a strong lead. Looking forward to getting to know everyone in the up and coming books.
Felt like something was missing from this boo. The plot lines was good but the execution failed. Lia came off as very whiny and soft and let her panther control too much. Although this was new to her - her panther was VERY dominant and forced Lia to call for help to calm her down too much. Towards the end- the writing seemed very amateurish and I boring. I'm sorry but I will not continue with this series
DNF 7% super early I know but it's very obvious that this book just ain't it.
I realize the FMC is 16 but this was just a little TOO juvenile. She is reading like a pre-teen rather than a teenager. The writing is simplistic, stunted, and immature. I also really dislike the shifter spirit being separate with it's own (annoying) identity and whole-ass separate name. I can see this getting confusing VERY quickly. Honestly it reads like a trashy wattapp.
This was a fantastic read about Amelia who is ripped from her family. This story is fast paced, and I devoured it in one sitting. This is s YA book, but i believe older readers would enjoy the story & writing as well. I loved the relationships that formed in this story, and I'm interested in where the story will lead next.
Was very impressed with this book. Would recommend as an introduction into RH books to those that haven't read RH before. The story had me hooked within the first chapter. Wonderful characters and the relations between characters are brilliant. The story flowed nicely too.Can not wait until book two. Well done Rose Alexander, look forward to reading more.
I loved this book, it was light yet edgy. I can't wait to see what happens next. Be forewarned it does get left with a bit of a cliffhanger but nothing too serious. I hope anyone reading this takes the time to try out this new to this genre author you won't be disappointed.
In this coming of age shifter story, Lia finds out that not all is what it seems. Soon after, her entire world changes and she moves across country. She quickly makes both friends, and enemies, as she starts a new school. Bonds are formed, and secrets are both made, and broken.
This is a great start to the series and I can't wait to see where it goes.
Ok read. Very emotional heroine, but what do I expect from a 16 year old girl who has her whole life flipped upside down you know, so get ready for lots of tears and mini tantrums. Also the ending was kinda strange and a little to convenient for my taste, but over all I decent read and will be staying tuned to see how this all plays out
This coming of age story is about a young girl who finds out the truth of her life in one of the most difficult ways. She is then thrown into a new society where she doesn't know the culture, or expectations from her. She is finding new connections with new people but is still apprehensive of her place in the world. Slow burn Steam 0/10 * Sweetness 8/10 * RH * Cliffhanger
What a great introduction to a different world and all the characters it includes. Amelia is a genuine 16-year pls put in some complicated and secretive situations. Her outbursts are totally normal in my opinion and hello! Her hotties are drool-worthy. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next book!
This story was interesting and intriguing. The characters were fun to read about and interactions between characters was definitely good and funny, especially when the animal halves were interacting with the human halves. The storyline was intriguing. I would like to continue the series.
Okay one thing, this is my first Rose Alexander book so I came in with fresh eyes and I couldn’t be happier. Amelia is sixteen and Rose writes her perfectly. She is a girl who’s life has been changed and she reacts like a normal sixteen year old. This book was amazing and I will be proudly sharing with others.
