Lucas needs to make a choice. Will he hold onto the pain and continue to hide in the past, tortured by the memories of the fire that nearly destroyed his life? Or will he choose Connor and leave all of it behind him?

This final book in this short series was definitely the best. Though not all happiness and light, with Lucas and Connor faces some rough patches it was definitely realistic. Healing, whether physical, emotional or mental rarely happens easily or swiftly and the author presents it very realisticly. The ending of this book of the story is a mix of HFN with hints at a possible HEA. There is no doubt that Lucas and Connor will be together forever... but there are a lot of loose ends involving family, relationship, etc. that it would be nice to resolve... preferably in a full-length novel centered on these two, but another short if that is the best we can get! Loved this... was hard to read at times with lots of tears shed. However, what an experience and so worthwhile!
Lucas got on my nerves a bit. I hated how he did a few things without thinking about Connor. I realize he has issues and what his ex did to him hurt. But as Connor said, he is not Justin so quit treating him as if he will react the same way.
I still love these two. These novellas are short and the author herself, said she hadn’t intended to write more than the first one and maybe one day she’ll write a full novel about these two. I will definitely be picking that up.
The ending seemed very abrupt. This could have used an epilogue. Connor was amazing and at times I wasn’t sure what he saw in Lucas. I get that Lucas went through something horrible and devastating but Lucas came off very self centered to me.
The last book in the series. I loved seeing the progress made by both the characters. They tackled trust issues, physical pain, mental exhaustion and insecurity together. I would have loved an epilogue to the story though.

'Eagles: Soar High' by Angelique Jurd, begins with Lucas and Connor viewing the building they are looking to buy for Connor's bar. It's a great space, but it will take a lot of work. Connor has his doubts, but Lucas is already invested, measuring and estimating how much it will take to fix the place. He has been doing research about bars for weeks now.
Lucas is frightened about the prospect of more surgery followed by more pain, but once he makes up his mind, he's anxious to get on with the process. Dr. Lane knows it's a major step forward for Lucas. Connor is worried about Lucas who seems to have withdrawn after discussing the procedures with the doctor. Unsuccessfully, he tries to get Lucas to talk to him, but he's not in any mood to do so. Connor decides on a more hands-on approach which ends up with them in bed, with Connor distracting Lucas in the most pleasurable way.
Although Connor has his concerns, he decides to buy the bar. The next few weeks are rough with Connor working double shifts and trying to work on the bar at the same time. Usually, when he comes home, he finds Lucas asleep. They haven't talked about Lucas's surgery, so on the way home one night, Connor asks him about it. At first, Lucas doesn't answer, but once they are home, Lucas tells Connor that he's not going to have the surgery.
Lucas has been through a lot, but I got frustrated with the way he treated Connor. Not that Connor was perfect, but he was so good to Lucas it was hard to bear Lucas's “abuse”. Fortunately, they loved each other enough to work things out. Thanks, Angelique, for giving Lucas and Connor their hard-earned happy ending.

Is Lucas brave enough to choose the painful path?😕 September 26, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 👬🔥💕 This third short novella ending the series has plenty of soul searching and heat as Connor and Lucas both have to decide on major next steps and work out their disagreements with Lucas's mother. It was good to see their relationship remain strong and based on more than looks or passion. The ending was hopeful, the writing good and the emotion strong. Nice to see that the balance of power between Lucas's mother and Connor has shifted. I just found it was over too soon! I am a fan of Angelique Jurd's work, but this series was a bit choppy and not as good as her full length novel San Capistrano series, one of the best series I have read this past year.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I'm still smiling, and almost crying with happy tears, that this lovely couple finally have their happy ever after. This short story is full of emotion, some of which put me through the wringer. It was wonderful to see the usually unflappable Connor lose his cool twice, for all the right reasons. Ultimately, though, we see a man who has been through so much, and never quite believes he can be loved, finally accept what has been right in front of his eyes for sometime. That makes it all worthwhile.
I'm not usually a fan of short stories, but I have loved reading this series. Individually, or read all at once, this is a 5 star read.
I received an advanced copy of this book and was not required to leave a review.
A satisfying end to an amazing series. I am so glad that Lucas and Connor found their way to each other and through the three installments of this series we were able to be a part of their incredible story. The decisions that Lucas faces are difficult but with Connor's love and support he will hopefully be able to move forward. I love the ending and I can't wait to read more books by this fantastic author.
It's here!! I won't spoil it - but I'm so satisfied with the growth and progress these men have had in the trilogy. It leaves me with a hopeful kind of joy and a certainty that they've beaten their trial by fire and proven they can survive the worst life can throw at you. The best kind of happy ending.
The story continues with the news they'd been waiting for about possible surgery for Lucas burns. I loved the big confrontation scene with Connor and Luc's mum a few home truths where needed. The ending of the book was a good one. The topics included in this are heart felt, love can do wonders achieving things in tough times.
This short novella is a fitting ending to a very emotional series. The writing, as always, is beautiful; the relationship between the characters keeps growing through communication and trust, and the end is hopeful.
Such an emotional series. Recovery was excellent. I enjoyed this satisfying love story. Strangers who became friends then lovers. A bright future with with continued healing. No more suffering. Who could ask for a better ending. No one.
Such a sweet way to end this series. I’ve loved watching Conor and Lucas evolve together. The constant reminders about beauty being in the eye of the beholder is simply refreshing. Loved it.
To my ratings (thanks to amazon I had to change it again and 'upgrade' it a little bit)
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow- Away-book like 'Liberty' from Seth King, 'Save the kids' series from EM Leya or 'Jesse's Smile' from Angelique Jurd), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader, but not really an often reread book
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
The last book in the short-story-series. It was a great series, I only wish, all books have had a full length and not only short story character!
Not much else to say. The loose ends are tied up efficiently. The trilogy of short stories that still probably only count as a novella all together are pretty decent. There’s room for improvement, sure, but I feel like I got great value for my investment of both the time and cost of this trilogy.
I absolutely loved this trilogy, Lukas and Connor are such a lovely couple and to watch their romance bloom was amazing. Connor was strong and steadfast in his feelings for Lucas and watching his journey from a broken man to happiness was so beautiful, a great series
