Love Hate Relationship

Rate this book
People say that sometimes the line between love and hate is thin. What they don’t tell you is that sometimes it’s invisible.

Rowan Locklaine gave his heart to one woman a long time ago and has no desire to go through that kind of torture ever again. As far as he’s concerned, relationships are nothing but a waste of time and energy. But when the mouthy little blonde, Navie Collins, is hired as his personal assistant, he finds his world turned upside down. And against his better judgment, he can’t seem to stop thinking about her.

Navie has spent years convinced she’s not good enough, that no one could possibly want her. Growing up the way she did help to thicken her skin, so when she walks into a job interview and meets the temperamental, foul-mouthed, best-selling author Rowan Locklaine, she’s all too happy to put him in his place.

Rowan and Navie are convinced they hate each other. But as time passes and the attraction between them begins to grow, the two of them must decide whether to keep hating each other or give love a second chance.

”We went from enemies to friends,
then to friends with benefits to dating...”

description

Navie Collins has had a tough life growing up. She’s just out of college and struggling with her bills and is super excited to land a high paying position.

”I was no longer afraid to stand up for myself and what I believed in. I’d grown up. I’d overcome all the bad in my past, and I was finally ready to take on the world. And nothing was going to hold me back.”

Until she meets the author that she has been hired to work for as his personal assistant, Rowan Locklaine.

description

This story is a lot of fun with a ton of insults and sexual tension constantly swirling around. As they fall in love with one another all the reasons for Rowan’s prior behaviors show up at his door and must be addressed (drama aspect).

description

The sex scenes were hot but the hero’s “mine” was a bit much for me and I also would have like one glimpse into his “great writing skills”. However, who doesn’t love a favorite book getting mentioned in another book? Yeah Aly Martinez!!

”Holy fuck, woman!” he exclaimed. “What the hell are you reading?”

Overall, this story is a good read but nothing truly epic. I liked the banter, loved the arrest scene and I adored the heroine’s best friend, Harlow and believe she is the heroine of the next book. Even though this book is the third in a series it can be read as a standalone.

Oh what a pleasant surprise it was. Loved it! Light, sexy, funny, with great banter and bickering between main characters.

Rowan is famous writer and needs a new assistant...again, since they all change constantly. I don't know? It may be because he is also a giant...

And Navie is the one to take the job. And I'm telling you, girlfriend is so fine, she gives as good as she gets. I already knew she was a kickass heroine somewhere in the middle of the book, but when she was reading one of my favourite books The Fall Up, I was like hell yeah! Bestie!

They start as enemies, become friends and then lovers. The transitions were smooth but damn did she make him work for it, once he pulled his head out of his ass. And when they click, so hot...

Anyway, it was a cute one, I enjoyed it very much and would recommend if you feel like reading something light but with a touch of angst.

* It's a book 3 in series but can be read as a STANDALONE.

I swear, even after finishing this book over an hour ago, I’m still laughing like a damn fool. I love reading a new to me author and falling in love with the writing. That’s exactly what happened to me with Love Hate Relationship.

Recent college grad Navie Collins needs a job. Best-selling author Rowan Locklaine needs a personal assistant that won’t run screaming the first time he unleashes his infamous jackassery. Luckily for readers, our gal Navie doesn’t put up with any crap.

”I’m sick and tired of putting up with your whiny, bitchy attitude. And I lived in a dorm full of girls, all on the same damn menstrual schedule, so the fact that you’re worse than all of them combined speaks volumes about your character.”

The more time Navie and Rowan spend together, the more the insane lure between them grows. With Navie’s childhood spent in foster care and a betrayal in Rowan’s past, both characters are slow to let their guards down. What starts out as extreme dislike, at least on Navie’s part, quickly turns to an uneasy friendship as the two get to know each other while fighting their attraction every step of the way. On second thought, scratch that. Navie’s not going down without a fight but Rowan would much rather, well, go down. Sweet baby jesus, Navie trying to resist and Rowan doing his best to talk her out of it was Hot. As. Hell.

Pretty much everything about this book worked for me, but I really appreciate the fact that the entire story wasn’t about these two fighting their feelings. That would’ve gotten real old, real quick. Instead we get to see the feelings develop and when the sexy finally happens, it’s not based on anger and hate. And for a guy that can bring the douchebag like no other, Rowan can sure do sweet when he sets his mind to it.

I expected hard. I expected fast. I expected more of what we had in the back of the limo. I never would have guessed Rowan Locklaine was capable of soft and sweet. And that newly exposed layer he just revealed shredded me.

When it comes down to rating, my 4.5 is probably closer to a 4 than a 5, but I’m so excited to find a new to me author to read that I’m rounding up. This series can be read as stand alones, which is lucky for me because this is the third in the series and I didn’t miss a beat. On to Harlow’s book next and I can’t wait!

Such a nice and entertaining story! I loved the characters, they were both equally awesome and bad-ass. The story was very interesting, full of amazing banters between Navie (love the name!) and Rowan. And that sexual tension… wow. This book contains a heat and a spark that will make you crave for more. It’s funny, sexy and emotional all at once so be prepared to laugh a lot and even shed a tear. I definitely need to read the other books in this trilogy! I have a feeling that I’ll like them a lot.

Oh man I loved this book! I hold my hands up ... I was nervous to start this because Navie came across as very wounded, timid and beaten down in Shrinking Violet, with good reason. And the prologue starts at a bad time in her life when she was so very young. Fortunately the author didn't linger there or pile on the misery, the book then jumps to four years after Shrinking Violet and Navie. Was. Awesome! Huge character growth - strong, resilient, determined, sassy, takes no prisoners mini Ninja - that's our Navie.

She was the perfect firecracker for Rowan who was Arsehole Supremo, with a whole honking dash of manwhore love 'em and leave 'em thrown in for shits and giggles. Their banter was hilarious, I found myself snorting and laughing out loud at times. Talking of arseholes, I love love love to see an arsehole fall stupidly arse over tit in love with his girl and have to backpedal and work to get in there. And Rowan did, and I loved it. It wasn't anything OTT, the grovel wasn't epic but then it wouldn't have fitted either character if it had been. He had his reasons, rightly or wrongly, why he was like he was which came to light later on in the story. The other trope I love is the enemies to friends to lovers. I love that Rowan gave her that though he definitely wanted to skip over the friends straight to steamy times instead lol.

The ending is HFN, same as previous books in the series but we do catch up with them in later books - Ms Prince I want to see BABIES!!!!

Not giving it the deserved 1 star because I really truly shut my iPad and deleted book off everything at 45%

The hero is a shit stain on earth who kept on giving me rapist vibe, he openly propositioned a woman in front on h (albeit to make her jealous and had no plan to follow through, but she DIDN’T know that). Yet she finds it SO hard to hate him cause he’s pretty with a perfect penis but this is her reaction to a man she knows nothing about.

“You should have sex with someone else!”
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that I’d never be able to go through with Pepper’s suggestion, but I was ashamed to admit that, in my alcohol-addled brain, I considered it for a few seconds. That was, until some skeevy guy with a rapist goatee sidled up to our table with a creepy grin .”

ARE. YOU. FUCKING WITH ME NOW?

Her boss practically mauled her at the dance floor the other night AFTER she said NO. Locked them in a ladies toilet and almost fucked her (possibly without protection) while she kept on saying NO and MEANING IT). Yes she was also lusty and would have given in since he was forcing reaction out of her, but she knew the boundaries. Just because she lusted after him didn’t mean she wanted to screw and she meant it when she said no. Yet he was like a bitch on heat and ignored anything she said. It was very much about his own physical gratification. He was too far gone to assess what she wants or not. The only thing that saved her was someone else banging on the door.

Yet she’s lusting after this potential rapist but somehow a guy that she knows nothing about is giving her rapist vibe because he has a goatee??????? This is meant to be funny or something? This coming from a girl grown up in foster care and caring so much about acceptance? I guess the only acceptance that matters to us women is of the guys off sports illustrated covers combined with manwhore extraordinair persona and completed with a STD ridden dick?

Umm...thanks. But no thanks.

Safety: he had a ONS the day he met heroine, after the interview. Heroine had to watch the OW’s walk of shame. He was celibate after, not for long as this was a very short timeline.

It can be counted as safe, however, I didn’t understand hero’s need of either having a quick fuck the first night or staying celibate after. That was a shitload of contradictions. Yes he didn’t feel anything for h at that point of time, so he was free to do shit, but neither did he have any feelings for her after escorting the ONS out, so there was no logical explanation as to why he stopped and went against his character. There is no rational explanation as to why he’d do that except for the author told him to do this. He didn’t care for her, and he never went without sex, just like the very first day they met, the only logical explanation is that he’d continue to do so UNTIL he’s formed the attachment with h and is ready for something with her. Human characters may be complicated but it still follows patterns and they are not chameleon.

If the author is going to include a sex scene between hero and another woman at the beginning of the book I’m going to assume it’s to give us the authentic idea of his character. If that is the case then they need to stay true to the portrait they are trying to paint and cannot contradict themselves simply because they have the means to have anything published and is scared of losing a certain reader demographic.

Overall Opinion: This was a sweet, funny read. I think it's hard to have a good love-hate dynamic in a story and have it work out, and I think this book succeeded. I think I like this book the best out of the series, but the other two are pretty good too. The h and H have a really fun banter that makes you laugh along with them and hope that they get their happy ending, especially because they both need it!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Navie and Rowan's story. Navie gets hired to be Rowan's PA. He is moody, difficult, and sometimes a downright jerk. He had some bad things happen to him in the past that he never dealt with properly . Navie is tough and gives whatever attitude he gives her right back, and he eventually decides that he likes her and they start a friendship of sorts. The friendship of course grows to more, and they fall in love. There is some family drama, some steamy moments, some ex drama, and some laugh out loud moments...and the couple get their HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Navie and Rowan's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I breezed right through this because it flowed well, and I never felt the need to skim.

Instalove: No. This had a great build up to love.

H rating: 4 stars. Rowan. Moody, sexy Rowan. He's the kind of character you love to hate, and then just love. I loved how he didn't even consider another woman once Navie was in his life (even though he might've been a manho in the past).

h rating: 4.5 stars. Navie. She was a pretty great h. She has had a sad past, and I remember loving her in the last book and feeling like she needed a good story. I think she got it here.

Sadness level: Low. I didn't need any tissues.

Heat level: Moderate/low. They do have some good chemistry, but it takes a while to get physical so there isn't a ton of it.

Descriptive sex: Yes.

OW/OM drama: Yes. He has a bad past with his ex, and she comes around and causes some drama (it is really minimal though).

Sex scene with OW or OM:

Cheating:

Possible Triggers:

Closure: This had decent closure, but (again) not enough for me. It gives us a hint to what the next book in the series will be about, but for the couple I'd say it was a HFN ending.

Worth the $?: I got in on kindle unlimited, but even at the $2.99 on Amazon I'd say yes.

Navie( I love her name!) The foster sister of the H of the previous book has finally finished college and has entered into the world of work. Unfortunately adulting isn't all it's cracked up to be, when she gets a call back on an interview she's relieved and excited because she's nearly broke. When she's offered the position of personal assistant to a NYT bestselling author she's thrilled......until she meets her asshole boss

Rowan is an arrogant author who's public is turning against him because of negative press. Pictures of him having sex in public definitely doesn't help the situation. When he's introduced to his new perky girl next door assistant he knows she's not his type. He treats her like a go for until Navie's backbone snaps into place and he's given a massive set down. Intrigued by this side of his assistant Rowan soon finds himself doing the one thing he swore he wouldn't do again.....falling in love

Let me tell ya I was scared starting this, in the previous book Navie cried so much I was sure she'd be a doormat. Nope! She's amazing! First, sassy and with a sharp tongue she doesn't need help to stand up for herself. I loved her! She had some issues because of her childhood but she was still a fantastic h. Coming from this author? I was pleasantly surprised by my girl Navie

The H's girlfriend cheated on him with his brother and though he was a manwhore in the beginning, Navie actually walks in as one off his ONS was leaving and actually had to rescue him from another, from the moment Navie started working for him he wasn't with anyone else. He wasn't even sure why when he and Navie couldn't stand each other. The ending got a bit OTT because he seemed to think Navie was cheating on him at every turn but given his history I understood

Enemies to lovers and the banter and come backs were everything! Carson's reaction to Navie's relationship was hilarious!

All in all I really enjoyed this one!

OW drama as the H's ex returns and kisses him as Navie walks in, he didn't want her cheating ass and got her out of there and went after his girl
There were two OW scenes with his ONS leaving as Navie showed up for her first day of work and one of he ex ONS showed up at his apartment and didn't want to leave. Neither of these were major scenes as the first occurred as he'd just met Navie and the second was with a woman he'd had sex with previously but not in a while
H was cheated on by his ex with his twin

I read this book after reading some discussions on Amazon and I saw My friend Jen's review (I snoop around my friends' shelves & reviews a lot).
This is first person POV alternating the H, Rowan and the h, Navie. This is my first book by this author. I do like her writing style. I didn't read the previous books in this serious and I wasn't lost at all. Navie is a college grad from NYU (2nd book in a row where the heroine is from NYU, huh).
Anyway, Navie was a foster kid growing up, so she's basically out there trying to get her career started. No safety net, although she does have a foster brother, Carson, back home in Texas. and her roommate, Harlow.
Navie is hired to work as a personal assistant to a mystery book author- Rowan. He's a PR nightmare, and early into the book, plenty of examples are given. Rowan loses his temper at the drop of a hat. He's sexploits are well documented.
He lives in a high rise Manhattan apartment (penthouse?) He must be SOME writer ($$$)! Maybe he's James Patterson's alias-alter ego. Wow writing pays well. He's living very well, but he's in danger of losing it all if he doesn't shape up. His manager hires Navie as his PA. Navie's not his "usual type". Oh yeah , he's a manho. Sometimes Rowan seems like he has a stick up his arse. He's 33, Navie's early 20s. I think. Sometimes he acts like he has Little Old Man Syndrome & other times he acts like a little boy.
Then Navie comes along. GONG. That's the sound of Navie & Rowan's insta- attraction. Rowan is a man-ho. He's even pushing one (bimbo) out the door when Navie shows up for her first day on the job.
There's a big attraction between the two of them. I wasn't entirely feeling the attraction, but they were. Navie does have an effect on Rowan. She's not overly snarky but she does tell off Rowan when he needs it-which is often.
The sexual tension is teased quite a bit. I liked that since the characters chemistry was a lot better by around 50% or so. There' s some funny moments. Lots of sexy times too. Late in the story, there's a conflict/misunderstanding that seemed staged, IMO.
I enjoyed this book, I'll probably read more from this author. I read this through Kindle Unlimited.
*edit: rounding up to 4 stars!

From enemies to friends. Friends with benefits to dating. This was a really cute and funny read. We have a manwhore/asshole Hero who has been in love in the past (he thought it was love) has been hurt and doesn't believe in love and monogamy. Now, the h Navie whom I really love. She grew up in foster care and I admire her backbone! Glad she didn't make it easy for him.

I am hanging my head in shame that this was my first Jessica Prince book. I'm glad she still sent me an ARC instead of cutting me. But seriously, this book. THIS BOOK! It had everything you could want in a romance - sweet, sassy, swoony, funny, heart-wrenching and HOT! The banter between Navie & Rowan killed me! The banter between Navie & Harlow killed me! The whole book killed me because it was so, so good. I cannot wait to read Harlow's story next and I'm sure if I annoy Jessica enough she'll have it done by tomorrow. Awesome job, my friend.

Absolutely loved this one!!!! I love finding new authors - I'm ordering her whole back catalogue right now!

If you love sassy heroines and an arrogant hero with an enemies-to-lovers vibe then this one is for you. I mean it wasn't the most original plotline but I loved the characters and the banter was quality.

This is the 3rd in a series but can easily be read as a standalone!

The idea the author tried to do was great, but the execution was a bit poor.

THE IDEA:
– Rich manwhore author Hero (Rowan) has to actually work and chase to get the girl (Navie). When he fucks up, he realizes that he needs to grovel and best of all the usually 'only-one-night-stand' guy wants a relationship but the heroine doesn't want to.

THE EXECUTION:
– Lemme quote something from the book "We laughed. All the time. We made jokes, we teased, we pushed each other's buttons. And it was fun." DON'T TELL ME, SHOW ME! Give me the jokes, show me where they tease each others. There are some scenes where the heroine makes fun of the H's books, but I wanted more. The h friend-zone the H and he's saying he's going to make her want him but I don't really see it. That's why I wished the book would have been like 50 pages longer so that more actions were shown.

It was still a pretty fun book to read cause the banter between Navie and Rowan (especially at the beginning when they couldn't stand e/o) was good and I liked it.

Love Hate Relationship is a witty romance with some past angst, sexy sexual tension and a boss-employee, haters-to-friends-to-lovers storyline.

Asshole author Rowan's new PA turns out to be the soft and nervous, Navie, much to his chagrin. But soon, Rowan pushes her one step to far and she's pushing right back at him, much to his delight.

A few elements in this one made it stand out as an overall good read. The silly wit of our heroine, the desperate measures the hero goes to for her and the overall sexiness of the book. They were an awesome couple to see together.

Four Love/Hate Stars

This is exactly what the title suggests, a love/hate relationship. Rowan is a successful author, with money to burn and looks that melt panties everywhere he goes. Having been burned in the past has made him a huge giant douche. Navie is struggling to make ends meet in the big city while following her dream of making jewelry. When she's offered a job as Rowan's personal assistant, she can't afford to turn it down.

TBH my first impression of Rowan left a bad taste in my mouth. He was egotistical, arrogant, full of himself, and did I already mention he is a huge jerk? Yeah, he was all that and a twinkle in his eyes.

"Don't get me wrong, she was cute . . . but I didn't do cute. I did hot, I did sexy, I did exotic. Never cute."

Excuse me?!?! Yeah he actually says that about the h. Plus on Navie's first day as his PA, she gets to see Noah's latest ONS leave his house. Normally these two things would be enough to turn me away. No, we don't get a descriptive scene with OW but this happens after they meet, which usually for me would have been a trigger and a big DNF. What saved it was that these two genuinely do NOT like each other. There was no one sided attraction, no unrequited love, Navie couldn't stand Rowan, so seeing him with an other woman didn't effect her in the least. Rowan also was so closed off and paranoid, and just the usual "someone hurt me in the past so now I run from feelings and relationships" guy that their relationship really does start platonic. So the other woman scene and his initial reaction to Navie ended up not bothering me so much. Plus after that scene, Rowan stays faithful to Navie, and this is before they become intimate. So brownie points for that.

Naive, Navie (Lol, tongue twister there!) was awesome, she wasn't a doormat, she was smart, sassy and loved that she called it like it is without fear or sugarcoating things. She was kind of a bad ass. I kind of love like her. She's awesome!

He was still an unbending a$$hole most of the time. I was still a smarts whenever the opportunity arose. And with him being an unbending asshole, the opportunity arose a lot.

When these two start to spend so much time together, they start to get to know each other. This definitely is not insta-love, these two start off as enemies, gradually form a quirky friendship, and then the slow burn romance starts. I love me a reformed bad boy and Navie reforms Rowan into a dream boyfriend. That was probably my favorite part of this story. Watching Rowan change, open himself up because of Navie. Because he finally found someone worth loving with everything that he was, is and will be. For such a big cynic, Rowan turned out to be a big ol' romantic soul.

. . . I couldn't remember ever being with anyone else. Nothing from my past compared.

Seriously, these two were great, I loved Navie from start to finish, she was a great h for Rowan. And Rowan, he was such a stubborn guy, but when he finally recognized his true feelings for his h, he turned into the gold standard of book boyfriends, groveling included. I started this not liking him, and ended up half way in love with him.

I would definitely recommend if you can handle some minor OW drama and jerk H who reforms, and a bad ass h. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and plan to check out Noah and Harlow's story soon too.

Safety: Rowan is 33 and Navie is 22-23 years old. OW scenes Neither are virgins, there is no cheating and ends with a HFN. No Epilogue.

Feeling blue? Maybe not blue…..maybe periwinkle. Or peacock. Or turquoise. Lots of shades of blue around. Colors can evoke such feelings. I love autumnal colors. But when the weather starts to turn warm in the spring, I want my brights. Don’t we all feel connected to colors? You will connect to Navie in a new way after this read.

Warning: This is the third book in the Colors Series by Ms Prince. It can be read as a stand alone. You do not have to read the first two in order to enjoy this one. Just make sure you go back and read them after you read this one because they are also greatness.

Navie doesn’t want to been seen closely. She is beautiful but scarred. Inside. She never had a family until her foster brother made her a part of his. Now she is out on her own and just trying to make it.

Best assistant ever. Best assistant ever. Best assistant ever. I repeated the mantra over and over, trying my best to psych myself up….

Rowan is a world famous writer. Just as famous for being an asshole and a womanizer as he is for his writing. But he needs a new assistant.

No! No, do not be yourself. Be anyone but yourself.

Of course Rowan hires Navie. Not that he had a choice. But he can ignore her and act like an asshole. An asshole with great abs. And his own past. A painful past that he doesn’t want to share. But you can’t ignore family forever.

Navie doesn’t have a lot of experience in love. So when she falls, she does it recklessly. Without regard for herself.
I’d handed my heart over willingly so when the boom was lowered, it hurt so much worse than I had anticipated

I loved Rowan and Navie. They were sexy and smart and oh so funny together.

I’m pretty sure I lost my no-no hole virginity to a hobo on the subway.

I have enjoyed all of the Colors Series, but this one is lighter, funnier. You will love the banter, the spark, the heat of this one. Love Hate Relationship lets us follow Navie and Rowan as they explore a real relationship, something neither has ever had with all the black and white and shade of blue that brings.

2.5 stars rounded to 3.

What I liked about this book:
1) The dual povs. I liked hearing from both MCs and the H actually sounds like a guy.
2) The h. Even though she struggles with self worth, (who could blame her with her past?), she's still pretty strong. I like that her default is to be nice, even when her boss is being an ass. Only after she's exhausted all of her nice reserves does she let her claws show. I like that she's not socially awkward and she's not a pushover.
3) Have you ever read a book where the H knows he's falling in love with the h, feels scared by that fact, and proceeds to try to forget about her by sleeping with lots of other women? Well, that doesn't happen in this book. I can't stand it when the H does that, and while the H in this book, Rowan, was a manwhore, literally up to the day he meets the h, he stops the moment he starts getting to know her.
4) I like that the relationship between the MCs wasn't easy. I also like that the h didn't fall into bed with the H right away. The banter between the two of them was really fun at times. I remember some definite LOL moments.

What I didn't like:
1) There were moments when I felt like that the author was letting us discover things for ourselves, but most of the time I felt like the characters told us a whole lot, either through their inner monologue or their dialogue.
2) The H's jealousy was a little OTT.
3) There was no epilogue.

Rowan Locklaine knows he has a reputation as an out of control player, but what can he say he loves women. When his PR handler tells him she has hired an assistant for him and he needs to clean up his act, hence the frumpy new assistant named Navie Collins, he chuffs at it. It doesn't take long before Navie has had it up to her eyeballs with Rowan's attitude and she lets loose all the frustration she has pent up since starting to work for him. This should put Rowan in his place but it does nothing but turn him on, now he wants Navie. Navie though doesn't want to cross that line, she doesn't want to be another notch. Rowan decides to seduce her in a way only Rowan can. What neither expect was to become closer then either expected and Rowan is quickly realizing he needs to let go of the past to start a future with Navie.

There is so much to Rowan's story, he is a jerk but was burned in a very harsh way that has left him spiraling for years. I liked Navie a lot and the whole series has been a delight to read.

Okay...this is a hard one to rate because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I think I'll go with 3.5 stars because I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it.

Navie (who I constantly read as Navvy-short vowel sound-for some reason I can't explain) needs a job and is somehow hired on because of a gut feeling to be author Rowan's personal assistant. Okaayyy.....

The book started a little slow for me. I was in a slump when I started it so that's probably what it really boils down to for a reason, because once I was able to get into it, it flowed well and wasn't slow at all. Still, there were some things that just make me not love it.

I liked Navie for the most part. She had a tough background but stood tall in the face of it. She had great people around her who cared for her from her friends to her "family." And though she moped about her lot in life on occasion -the "no one wants/loves me part- she didn't dwell on it forever. She tried to make the best of situations.

Rowan was an okay character. It's really hard for me to judge who he was because there were times when I really liked him, and others where he was just meh to me. I honestly can do without the manwhores that are everywhere in book world. I'm glad Rowan was a one woman man for the most part, but he was a sleaze otherwise.

The whole thing with his brother and Bree was a little ridiculous to me. It's something I expected to happen even though I hoped it wouldn't. Still, it was to drive the plot home that yes Rowan loves Navie and is willing to change his cad ways for her etc. etc.

One thing I didn't like, though I guess maybe I was supposed to look at it as funny, was all the yelling they did at each other. Bickering, bantering, driving each other crazy: fine, I get it. But they really did yell at each other a lot. And more to the point, they yelled because neither was willing to communicate fully before a blowup happens. I just imagined a lot of scratch throats because of it.

I liked them together. I'm sure that might be surprising lol! But I really did. When they weren't screaming at each other, I enjoyed them together. Rowan was surprisingly quite sweet for a man who didn't do relationships. He tried really, really hard for Navie, basically changing huge parts of himself for her. Though I did think he was a bit OTT when it came to trying to seduce Navie

The ending was okay. Not great because it was left open-ended and was the tease-in for Harlow's book. I'm not the biggest fan of that. Navie and Rowan didn't really get an ending, didn't get a HEA because it wasn't a huge jump into the future and they were overshadowed with Harlow's deal. So I was kind of disappointed there. But at least they had some form of closure, even if it wasn't enough.

**Bloggers Note: I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Love Hate Relationship is a standalone in the Colors Series. It follows after Shrinking Violet.

Love Hate Relationship follows Navie, a young women fresh out of college looking for work in New York City. You first meet Navie in Shrinking Violet as Carson's younger foster sister. Now it is time to for her story to be told.

Love Hate Relationship shows us Navie four years later after she has graduated college from NYU. In Shrinking Violet we see her in her senior year of high school. Now Navie is out on her own, living in an apartment in New York City with her best friend Harlow.

Navie is out in the big city looking for a job but for being a newly graduated college student, she is finding it harder that she anticipated. When she finally scores a great job with a publishing company she thinks she has hit the jackpot. But when she finds out she didn't get the job she was hoping for, all hell breaks loose.

Enter Rowan Locklaine... Notorious bestselling author, bad boy player with a past of his own. When he meets his new assistant, he wants to do nothing but get under her skin. But as time goes on, their connection grows as well as their attraction to one another.

I was so excited to read Navie's story. I have been waiting for this since I read Shrinking Violet. I didn't expect it to be four years into the future but I think Jessica made the right choice. I saw her as the little lost scared teenager in Shrinking Violet and then a young adult trying to find her way into the real world in Love Hate Relationship. I loved reading from both points of view. It is always nice to have that duel point of view.

Rowan was an ass at times. I found myself screaming at him in my head a few times but after a while he was hard not to love. You could see how much he cared about Navie and their attraction to one another was definitely there. There is lots of sexy parts in this book, which is always a good thing. But this whole story is about Navie and her finding her way.

I love this series... Even though it says you do not have to read Shrinking Violet before, this story is considered a standalone, I personally would read Shrinking Violet first. It is nice to see Navie as a teenager and get to know her a little bit before you dive into Love Hate Relationship.

Jessica Prince knows how to write a love story with just enough comedy to give you a bit of the giggles. I think it is her specialty.

I LOVED the love hate relationship and I do not mean just the title. The actual love and hate Navie and Rowan gave each other. It was a complete fun ride that made me smile.

I did not connect to them romantically because I think Rowans want/need/own/mine etc… was quick for my taste but she didn’t give in as quick so it didn’t made it horrible. The fact that he tried and tried and TRIED was what was so fun.

For really not feeling their love I seriously felt their banter. Love it actually!!! If the fall would have been better than an easy 5 star for me.

“But I will admit, watching you get so heated is better than the shy, nervous thing you had going on the moment we walked through the door. So the answer is, if it’ll get you back to normal and give me back that fiery girl I’ve been craving for so long, then yeah, I guess I am trying to piss you off intentionally… on a subconscious level, at least.”
