Really enjoyable action romp. I do love a novel which chooses the offspring of a Nazi as its villain!

I rarely enjoy continuation books and this one is no different. I recognize that authors need to make money by selling books, but in reality, this book could have been shaved down and incorporated into Ghost Flights. The Hunt is predictable, spends 100 or so pages restablishing the characters from Ghost Flight, which simply drives me nuts. There are exciting parts in this book but in the end, it's another tune in next week type book that fell short for me.

Bear Grylls is not only full of action on the screen he fills his books with it as well. It took me a while but I finally got all three in the series and now it's read. It's a vere well written story with bad guys going all the way back to the second world war. This is a really good thriller adventure story in three parts.

Super spannend tot en met de laatste pagina... Letterlijk de laatste pagina. Waar is het eind? Jaegers emotionele verhaallijn wordt helemaal niet afgesloten.

Great read.
I chose a 5 Star rating for a couple reasons. I've watched a few of Bear's TV episodes and was really surprised at how well he writes. Simple, quick moving plots that kept me interested. I hope for some of Will Jaeger's adventures.

Ok, so I panned the first two books and yet am back here for number three to see how it all ends… worst yet!
Still dodgy and strains belief. Right at the start, our hero's wife and son have been rescued after 3 years being kidnapped, tortured etc. Son (kidnapped ages 8 to 11) 'bounces back' and is promptly chucked in boarding school. Wife is deeply traumatised (duh). Our hero goes on holidays (without wife), where he 'lets the serenity of the place and its breathtaking beauty seep into him'??). A few pages later, he's decided to extend his holiday and as he thinks about his wife: 'When exactly had the incredible passion and joy in each other withered and died?' (Ah, when she was tortured and probably raped for 3 years???). Then the following:
‘Ruthie, how are you?’ he answered.
‘Alive,’ she said. Not even a hello. Her tone distant, unreachable, as it always seemed to be these days.
‘I’ve been talking with Joe,’ Jaeger explained, ‘and we’ve decided to go visit some newly unearthed tunnels. Some kind of secret Nazi super-weapon facility.’
There was a long-drawn-out silence that he sensed was fraught with emotion.
‘I could do with you here.’ Ruth’s voice sounded pained, as if she was in a really bad place. ‘Here with me now, not off on some crazy search . . .’
Jaeger sighed guiltily. ‘It’s just two more days.’
‘I’m losing it, Will. Really losing it.’ A beat. ‘Like I said, I could really do with you here . . .’
Jaeger fought against the temptation to give in. She could be like this – soft, distant, tantalising – then just as quickly flip into a violent mood swing and turn on him. No, he needed a few extra days’ break, and the call of the tunnels – Kammler’s secrets – was just too compelling.
‘It’s only two days,’ he remonstrated. ‘There’s been this new discovery. We’re so close – we might not get another chance like this.’
‘Off searching for a bunch of dusty Nazi memorabilia . . .’ There was an intake of breath, heavy with sadness and despair. ‘I guess that means you’ve got your priorities sorted.’ A pause. ‘Tell me, Will, when did everything between us . . . go so wrong?’
Jaeger could hear her voice breaking. It tortured him. He ran a hand across his brow. ‘You know something, the first moment I laid eyes on you, I knew we’d fall in love. I’ve loved you ever since. But …’ He paused. ‘I just don’t know any longer.’
‘And you’re surprised? After all I went through. Waiting for the rescue that never came. For you.’ A beat. ‘When have you ever taken the time to really try to understand? To get to know the new me? What drives me. And what haunts me . . .’
Fair point. And that's our hero??? (And spoiler alert: it's not 'only two days', of course our 'hero' promptly stumbles upon a Nazi murder scene).
The hero's wife disappears shortly thereafter, but instead of finding her he promptly goes and explores some other hellhole, making eyes at our 'heroine'. Seriously?

Fantastic trilogy overall. The first book was by far the most addictive. This one, I found, was harder work to get into. There was a lot of repetition from the other books, but it really picked up in the final third or so of the book.
There’s a lot of technical, what-seems-to-be, jargon (to me anyway). He probably had to include this for all of the action genre fanatics out there, I’m sure. Stick with it, it’s a great trilogy. Very gripping and thought provoking.

Its a fitting ending to the trilogy but not as good as the previous two.
Bear spends a lot of time going into details of weaponry and tactics of past events that seem to be fillers to fill the book.
Some very out there things happen but its still exciting and gripping.
I hope for more but heard this was the last.

Excellent adventure if a trifle ott. I hope that with this third book the day of the nazi kinder is finally at an end. The Armageddon of the world is a horrendous scenario because it is so plausible. Bear grylls is a knowledgeable combatant and if the military is churning out fighters like jaeger for real then It is money well spent merely to look after us. .

This was a really tough one to get into. I persevered because I love everything Bear puts effort into.
There was a lot of retelling of SS backstory before the story really got going. I listened to this one so it was easy to put on in the car or while I was doing the dishes. If there were to be a second...I might give it a shot.

I really liked Will Jaeger book trilogy's, and though I liked the history ending, i believe the final book history delayed to stuck me. Maybe from the final half of the book it became to getting interesting. Any way. This a book book with a good trilogy ending. In my opinion it is worthy the reading time. A good book.

I don't usually like to read series books out of order but this has enough action to keep you going and what happened in the previous novels is mostly explained or not needed for the plot of this one. But cheesy in places and definitely too much 'this is what this stands for' when talking about army tactics or weaponry but overall an ok read!

Love all Bear Grylls' writing
I listened to the Will Jaeger trilogy (from the library), but I wanted to have them as bedtime reading on my kindle. I enjoyed them more, that way, as took in the clever plots more comprehensively. Wish he would do more adult fiction.

I'll tell you what, Bear Grylls writes an absolutely stonking adventure/thriller. Just finished 'The Hunt', which is the 3rd book in the Will Jaeger series,(Ghost Flight & Burning Angels being the 1st & 2nd), bloody marvelous!! I salute you...boy scout style of course, Mr Grylls.

This was the 3rd and last book of the set and I was not disappointed..well written and full of non stop action l couldn't put it down..Liked it so much I bought it in paperback for a friend who had read the 1st two.

I must confess having read the first two parts of this trilogy I wasn’t too hopeful for this book. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This is definitely the best of the three. The narrative was much clearer the story flowed better and the excitement and thrills were non stop.

It's so close to 5* for me. But the book just finishes dead. Would've loved to have had an epilogue to finish the series off.
Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable book, and a very enjoyable series!

What an incredible conclusion to a thrilling read. Wish there was more. Bear Grylls' work is captivating, exciting and hard to put down. Well done on a great series.

Het derde en laatste deel over een nazi oorlogsmisdadiger die via zijn familie verder leeft. De vorige twee delen heb ik niet gelezen en ik heb niet direct de indruk dat ik iets miste.
1945, de Duitsers staan op het punt de oorlog te verliezen en verbergen nog wat uranium voor een bom in een gangenstelsel in Oostenrijk.
Heden, Will Jaeger is in Oostenrijk en hoort over een gangenstelsel, is geïnteresseerd, gaat erheen, gaat erin en stuit al snel op een lijk, meerdere lijken en voordat hij het weet moet hij lopen voor zijn leven.
Zijn team is overtuigd dat een van hun grootste vijanden nog leeft en ze beramen en plan om hem nu eindelijk eens te elimineren.
De actie gaat van de ene kant van de wereld naar de andere en neemt ongeloofwaardige proporties aan. Dat is nu precies het probleem met dit boek, het is er allemaal een beetje over en je weet vooraf hoe het gaat aflopen, zelfs al zitten ze in de knel, het komt toch allemaal goed want zo gaat dat nu eenmaal in dit soort actieboeken.
Een degelijk plot en mooi zinnen ga je in dit boek niet vinden, wel actie waarbij je je hersenen op nul kan zetten, gewoon meegaan in de flow en de actie, je overleeft het wel.
