The book cover drew me to this book, so despite reading the phrase "faith-inspiring" (which appears in the blurb), I failed to realize I'd picked up a Christian romance novel. Other than Janette Oke's novels, I usually steer clear of this subgenre because the books often come across as too preachy and Pollyanna.

Was this too preachy even for this pastor's daughter? Yeah, it was. Take for instance the first date scene.
"This looks delicious," Lana stated. "Do you mind if I pray first."

"You're religious?" Bryce questioned.

"I don't like the term religious because it's so much more than that. I believe in Jesus and have a relationship with Him. Is that going to be a problem for you?" she probed . . .

"Do you go to church now?"

"My work keeps me rather busy. I go on an occasion when I can fit it into my schedule."

"Well, it's important to make God and church a priority. You should find the time and come to Journey Church with me sometime."

There are numerous scenes that occur at Lana's church. We even get to hear snippets of the Sunday sermon. She's a virgin, of course, and tells him after a few dates that she's saving herself for marriage. He's no saint, but he's somehow totally fine with being celibate while he dates her. I think it would have been more realistic if he'd needed time to consider if a non-sexual dating life would work for him. They bond over "The Princess Bride," good deeds, and his memories of his dead mother. Neither of them consume a drink of alcohol. It's water, tea, and root beer for this couple.

The villain in the story is his jealous ex-fiancee whom he dumped after she cheated on him. Gabrielle is the typical antagonist, causing problems for Lana at work and even attacking her outside her apartment. Never fear- Bryce comes to her rescue and makes a few of her dreams come true with his billions of dollars. After less than a year of dating, they get engaged. My grandma told me making a man wait for sex would lead to a proposal quicker than letting him sample the goods would. Who knew?

Good intentioned but awkward

This book is an illustration of why I, as a Christian, don't tend to read "Christian" romances. Lana is one of those stereotypical, perfect Christian girls whose dialogue too often sounds like lectures. She's not smugly self-righteous, but it comes so close that she might as well be.

The plot itself is full of clichés, as well. I ended up skimming thru the book to the end. The writing is decent, but I just couldn't connect with the Christian fairytale aspect of it. I don't read romances for realism, but I do need them to be realistic enough to keep me immersed into the story.

A great inspirational novel! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Jenna Brandt! I loved the characters, the plot and the setting.
Lana is such a beautiful character! Her positivity and cheerfulness affects those around her, especially Bryce. Bryce is a bit more spoiled than Lana, but his beginnings were also humble. They are a beautiful couple together, and also a perfect match! The plot was interesting, with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. Some of the secondary characters were despicable! Especially the way that they treated Lana! But through it all, she remained kind and forgiving, and that's what I love about her! Overall, I really enjoyed 'Waiting on the Billionaire'!
P.S. LOVE the cover!!

RATING: 4.5 points

1-5 SCALE:
1: I couldn’t even finish it
2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing
3: I didn’t hate it, but I didn't like it either
3.5: On the line between good and ok
4: Solid story / worth reading
4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read
5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it!

I was really disappointed with Bryce Montgomery’s choice of a best friend. Roger Boswell ‘s character was selfish, self-centered, conniving, immoral, and seemed to focus most of his efforts on pulling Bryce down to his level. But this being a Christian romance story, Ms. Brant chose to let Roger be Roger through most of the novella until, toward the end, Bryce’s good example and forgiveness bore results and Roger turned his life around. I was impressed by Bryce and Lana’s strong Christian ideals and constancy in their faith. Although Bryce had become somewhat inactive in his faith, meeting Lana soon helped him return to the teachings of his youth. There were laughs and plot twists and turns enough to keep me wholly involved through the entire story. I am pleased to award Ms. Brandt five-stars for this novella.

A sweet story of two people from different backgrounds who find it other unexpectedly. Bryce is a self made millionaire and is totally focused on his business. He had been hurt before and was not looking for anyone to fill his life. But as fate would have it he bumps into Lana, a would be actress who was having to wait tables to make ends meet. She sees him again when he is seated at her section she waits on.
As the two get to know each other, is there a chance of love? As I finished the story I had a smile on my face and was sorry to turn the last page.

I enjoyed this clean billionaire romance filled with epic romantic moments, faith-inspiring characters, lots of laughs, and even a few twists. Talked into doing an interview by a self-serving friend, Bryce Montgomery ends up at the top of the list as Manahattan Magazine's #1 most eligible bachelor, but he's not thrilled about it as it draws all sorts of unwanted attention. Because of a failed engagement, all he wants to do is focus on his business, Titan Enterprises. Then he has a chance encounter with a woman at a restaurant and is instantly attracted to her. Lana Collins, having moved to New York to pursue her dreams of being an actress finds that acting doesn't pay the bills. To support herself, she takes a job waiting tables at The Spot, a posh restaurant on the upper westside of Manhattan. While heading to work she accidentally bumps into a handsome stranger. Finding out that he's a billionaire, she's not interested and pushes him out of her mind. A couple of days later, he ends up being seated in her section and turns out to be her boss. Sometimes love is found in the least expected place with the least expected person. Though they are from completely different worlds, their connection is undeniable. Can they find a way to make a relationship work despite his friends, her job, and their pasts?

Waiting on the Billionaire
A Clean Billionaire Romance
By: Jenna Brandt
Narrated by: Chantelle Theocharidis

Sometimes, when I see the word billionaire in the title, I tend to overlook it. Normally an alpha male, full of himself and willing to spend anything to get what he wants, the story gets old. But when I grabbed this one, I was pleasantly surprised. Jenna Brandt gives a fresh outlook on the billionaires and their quest to find true happiness. Bryce Montgomery is Manhattan Magazine's most eligible bachelor, but he hates to be stalked by those that want him for his looks or money. When he meets Lana, a waitress, he is taken in. She does not give him the time of day, but he is persistent. Will this ordinary woman be the one who steals his heart? This faith based story is a beautiful journey of self discovery and hope. The track of following God's path and finding your true heart leads these two to find happiness. It's a warm hearted story and will leave you feeling good.

This is my first narration by Chantelle Theodcharidis. Her voice is pleasant, but at times, her voices all sounded the same. The distraction of not being able to tell voices apart made it a little awkward at times. I enjoyed her pace and the inflections she uses are heart felt.

This was a sweet love story about Lana, a Christian who feels she was called to act, and Bryce, a billionaire who wants to be loved for himself, not his money. I didn't realize there was a romance sub-genre about billionaires and when I saw this clean, Christian audiobook available, I decided to give one a try. I liked both Lana and Bryce but Bryce's friend was a jerk and I couldn't figure out why he would still hang around him. Lana challenged him and didn't fall all over herself just because he was rich. He even started going to church again and I liked seeing the influence she had on him. There was a good spiritual message about putting God first and we hear her pastor speak more than once. There's a bit of a love triangle as Bryce's ex shows up and tries to interfere in their romance and even some danger. The narrator was fine; I listened to this at 1 1/2 speed as it felt too slow at the normal one. The dialogue was a bit formal. If you like romance, especially with billionaires, you might want to check it out.

I received this Audible audio from StoryOrigin. I was not compensated for this review. All opinions are my own.

I actually received an Audible copy and this is my review.
I loved this story of Bryce and Lana! I listened to it all this afternoon while I went about my day, making the bed, vacuuming, cooking, etc. I did not want to turn it off. It is a wonderful story of two people literally bumping into each other and as they sa, the rest is history. But it was a bit more complicated than that. There were issues to work out between a waitress/aspiring actress and a very successful business man, a woman with a strong faith and a man who wandered away from his upbringing. They are both true to life characters with relatable flaws. Not only was this a great story by Jenna Brandt but the narration was well done and I always knew what character was speaking. I am a fan of audible books because I love to read but need to get other things done and this way I can conquer two birds with one stone somto speak😀. Thank you Jenna for the gift of this free audible book. I have chosen to write a review.

Not so opposites attract - (unless it's financial opposites)

Waiting on the Billionaire by Jenna Brandt

This book was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. I must admit that I am not a big fan of the subgenre of Billionaire Romance. I have a hard time imagining anything like that ever happening in real life. Despite this being part of that subgenre I have to say I liked this book. There was a sweet romance developing. There was definite conflict. There were many bumps in the story. The hero experienced a lot of character growth, or maybe it should be called character regression. As Bryce admits - Lana helped him find himself. I thought that it was sweet how much alike Lana and Bryce were. At least when looking at what counts that is!

I received an ARC of this book under no obligation. I have voluntarily chosen to review it. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

Bryce Has just been named Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor. Unfortunately, he never would have agreed to take part if it hadn’t been for his best friend, Roger, who got edged out of the list last minute.
Now, Bryce can’t visit anywhere without people flocking to him, interested in him solely for his money.
Enter Lana, a waitress/actress who didn’t read the article, and wouldn’t have cared anyway. She is a Christian who feels called to act and pursues this goal as a way of honoring the craft that helped her cope emotionally through high-school bullying.
The path to love is never easy and it is even harder for a woman with no money and no background of note if she’s trying to navigate the world of egotistical billionaires. Can a relationship ever work between Bryce and Lana if none of his friends accept her?
You won’t regret reading the story of love, understanding, and God’s grace in our life.
I received this book on Story Origin as an ARC, and I am leaving a voluntary review.

This clean romance reads as if it were written in a red-hot hurry. It meets the requirements of the genre, but it leaves a lot of room for improvement. Lana is working at a restaurant where she literally waits on Bryce and soon finds out (1) that her attraction to him is mutual and (2) that he's a billionaire. It's a short romance. One little spat lies between the recognition of the mutual attraction and the happy-ever-after ending.

Romance fiction is often used as a marital aid that doesn't have to be well written, so some readers may not mind when a misplaced modifier turns a statement of fictional fact into a snappy retort to a question nobody's asked, when a sermon is short enough to be a voice mail greeting, when characters attend church services but don't seem to think of their religion as more than a traditional label of identity...That sort of thing is supposed to make the difference between three stars for "Not bad" and four stars for "Quite good."

Follow Your Dream

Lana has always followed her dream of being an actor, ever since she was a high school sophomore. (This rang my chimes because my middle daughter had her first role at the same age, as Emily in Our Town. So for the rest of the book I saw Elizabeth in Lana.) Lana supports herself as a restaurant server while going to auditions, and it is in this capacity that she meets Bryce.
Bryce followed his dream and it made him rich beyond measure, but he is no longer in all ways the man his dead mother raised him to be.
Their meeting is more important in Bryce's life than in Lana's, though that is not a permanent situation.
After numerous problems, Lana accepts a role in a television series that takes her across the continent.
And then --
Recommended for all readers of Christian billionaire romance.

So, this is the first book I've read / listened to by Brandt and I didn't realize that this was a faith based romance and while that wouldn't normally be an issue as I am a Christian, this book just didn't do much for me. The main characters just came off being a bit too perfect for me - it's just unrealistic - the reactions are more of a "I wish that's how I would react" but I know real life is messier. Everything was pretty good but not great for me - the characters were too perfect, the narration was pretty good, the storyline was pretty good the flow was okay - there just wasn't anything captivating for me personally. It's not bad but not great either.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This was a great story. The story grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go. I loved getting to know Bryce and what made him tick. Lana was a down-to-earth working woman that was trying to follow where God was leading her. When the two came together, sparks flew. I loved that Lana stuck to her convictions and had the courage to step up in her faith. Bryce had a journey of remembering what was important to him. The secondary characters were great and added to the story. I felt like the story moved quickly and didn't have as much depth to the characters as they could have, but I got the general feel of the characters. I recommend this book to those that love sweet romance with billionaires finding the right woman.

VERY INTRIGUING READ!!!
Talk about hitting the ground running. This is a very interesting and engaging tale that really captures your attention until the last word. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches here and there make for one exciting adventure. You get a full range of emotions that covers the spectrum. You have one hard hitting, action packed, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning dynamo that really draws you in. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable. The scenes are descriptive and detailed it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Jenna did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Jenna, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

I enjoyed Bryce & Lana's Christian romance. It was interesting how two seemingly very different people can be attracted. At least on the surface. Jana is a strong Christian who is ambitiously going after becoming an actress. Bryce has fallen into a lifestyle that flaunts the privileged. I enjoyed how Jana reminds Bryce of his life before the billions of dollars and how he has left God out of his life simply by being herself.

I am disappointed about the blatant discrimination & reverse discrimination. The rich are put in such a negative light it's as bad as the portrayal of what they think of the lower class.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Story: 3.5 stars
This was my first book by this author. The story was good, and I felt that the main characters were ok, but that the side characters were unbelievably over-the-top. The bullying of the h felt so random and inexplicably harsh. I enjoyed the Christian aspect and thought the H was a generous and thoughtful guy who finally found someone worth standing up for. Their time together was fun to read about (minus the scenes of bullying). I would read this author again. I felt that her pacing was good and the angst wasn't overdone.

Narrator: 2 stars
The narration just wasn't for me. I felt that she just didn't have enough expression in her reading. Plus, her words were clipped; abrupt-sounding. She was okay, and I'm admittedly a narrator aficionado, so others may be fine with her narration.

Waiting on the Billionaire (Billionaire of Manhattan #1) was a great read by Jenna Brandt. Bryce is named Manhattan Magazine’s number-one most eligible bachelor, but that doesn’t make him happy. Lana moved to New York to pursue her dream of being an actor. She waits tables to help her pay her bills. Beautifully written!
I finished reading this story a few hours ago and every time I thought about it I realized that it made me feel happy and that I was smiling about something in it.
It is beautifully written with lovable main characters, interesting supporting ones and a great story. It is so down-to-earth and realistic that it is very easy to follow and I found it to be most enjoyable.
All this makes me very happy to be able to recommend this book as a great read! Enjoy!

Wonderful Christian Romance
This is a sweet and clean romance between a self-made billionaire and a blue-collar waitress/ actress wannabe. The story is strongly Christian and stresses Christian values throughout the book. I like the story. I loved that it was clean and Christian. I liked that it included family values and morals. I have read many of this author's books and they are all high quality with a strong Christian message. This book did not disappoint. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.

Personally, I thought this was going to be a one way romance. Like Lana, I wouldn't want to fit into a world where you are based off of what you do and wear. I am glad Lana did not sacrifice her values for Bryce, because she would have ended up in the long run unhappy. Bryce had to accept Lana and her values. He had to come off the perch he was sitting on if he wanted a true chance at happiness. I liked this story because our heroine stuck to her values and didn't let Bryce push her into something that she wasn't.

A Lovely Christian Romance

This book had me so entranced talk about a page turner! It was amazing! I loved the fact that Christian sermons was introduced and the love between Bryce and Lana. It's like a coming of age sweet romantic Christian love story of a humbled waitress and a humbled billionaire, I loved that just because he had so much money it didn't make him arrogant or egotistical it made his character so addicting and intriguing. Great author and beyond great book! I loved every page of it!!! A MUST READ!

Faith!

Our good-hearted heroine is quick to run away when she feels threatened by snobs. She needs to learn to cope with her feelings of inadequacy occasioned by childhood bullying. So I was surprised at how fast she was to pass judgment on others based on superficialities such as appearance. But overall she is in there trying and achieving and endeavoring to live her faith. Meanwhile our hero has allowed tragedy and dispair to pull him away from his roots and his own faith. Led by example, he re-embraces his desire to do well by doing good. A sweet, enjoyable tale.

While pursuing an acting career, Lana has a job at a NYC restaurant as a waitress. One of her customers just made the top ten list of Billionaire Bachelors. He is impressed with her because she doesn’t know who he is and treats him like an ordinary person. His society friends have major trouble with the fact that she is ‘just a waitress’ and are not afraid to voice their opinions.
He wines and dines her hoping she will see him and not his money.

A beautiful heartfelt romance. This well paced story about the power of faith and the impact it has on people's lives, love and understanding is wonderfully narrated.  These characters are interesting, well developed, have undeniable connection, are from different backgrounds and slowly work towards their HEA despite, their pasts, his job and friends. I voluntarily listened and reviewed this ARC. Look forward to more from both author and narrator.

I’m a big fan of the romance genre and am fine with a clean book, but this book wasn’t just clean it also became a bit preachy. The characters were a bit too perfect and the relationship was hard to believe. All-in-all, not the strongest story I’ve read recently. The narrator did a nice job, but it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged with the story.

I received the audio version from StoryOrigin for my honest opinion.
