Well, this was dark. (This fandom is a jail)

This is fanfiction, I know. However, the borrowing of thoughts from Greek philosophers and myths, classics like Jane Eyre and gothic poetry absolutely made it a psychological feast.

Rarely, you come across a story written in ode to another that breaks all conventions and expectations of ‘fan fiction’. This was a delightful story. The author has a considerable understanding of the characters and the writing behind them. The plot itself is fun and not convoluted, if at times a little unbelievable and lacking the sufficient backing up. The ‘Hannigram’ depiction is just perfect. A slow burner of desire and intimacy that rivals a lot of romance/thriller books in the published market. The suspense, gore, plot… if you told me rhis was written by one of the Hannibal writers it would make a lot of sense.

I’ll be honest. I read this entire fic over 13 hours straight, not eating or leaving my chair. I was invested, ingrained and totally in awe of the quality of this fan fiction. There are numerous books that don’t deserve publishing in comparison to this one.

I sincerely hope this author writes more of these or a follow up!

4/5 … “Yes, yes, yes,” I say as you hold the whirling bone saw against my forehead, applying steady pressure to my skull, cutting me open with precision. I can feel the warm stickiness of blood trailing down my face, dripping into my eyes and mouth, but the cocktail of adrenaline and pain don’t allow me to register it as my own. Eventually you’re holding the top of my skull in your red hands, now just a horrific bowl with thick black hair hanging from it. Somehow, I’m still able to speak, but it’s considerably slurred. “I don’t know what you expected,” I taunt. You look down into the gore of my skull, only to see in hauntingly large letters, “HANNIGRAM”.

Finally. Finally, finally, finally, I have read the true, canonically and biblically accurate, Hannigram fic I deserve. Will Graham is finally written CORRECTLY. Perfect concoction of slowburn, pining, yearning, and insanity. Hannibal feels real. Everything is crazy. Nothing more to say other than “good job!” Finally!
