Men on a Mission

Rate this book
Four hunky marines and one very lucky girl.

We lived through war together.
Literally.
All five of us.
Then, even in civilian life, they’re still my boys, my best friends.
But suddenly one goes missing.
Radio silence means danger.
Danger means…. reunion.
Now we’re back together. This time we’re on a rescue mission.
Our biggest hurdle: passion so intense, it can cloud instinct and judgment.
Our most secret desires blaze into the open as years of pent up yearning prove too much to bear.
Can we save him before it’s too late?
If not – I’d never forgive myself.

Five friends, who love and trust each other with their lives, they are there for each other through thick and thin. Their friendship was born in combat and continued after they finished with the army. Mallory is the only female amongst them. Jason, Chris, Liam and Seth are in love with Mallory but will never pursue her, as they are scared it will ruin what they have. When Chris goes missing, they all rally around to find him. What they discover is a journey of love amongst each other. Can they each love Mallory and still keep their friendship? Can they be one big happy family? I am not usually a fan of polyamory and usually steer clear of reading it, but in this book, it worked for this group. The story had a plot twist behind the love story. Overall it was an enjoyable read.

These four friends all banded together to save another that went missing.

Mallory is hosting a weekly get together at her house with friends but one of them is missing. Mallory and Jason have been calling and texting Chris to see if he's ok because no one has heard from or seen him yet. Eveyone is worried so they go over to his apartment to see if he is even there and find all sort of things a miss. His phone is still plugged in, door open, car still there and so on. They decide to go to his work and his parents house. Mallory and Seth go by his place of employment and get the run around and know it. Seth invites himself to Chris's ex family dinner. Jason and Liam drive to Chris's parents house in Nevada. Seth scores a meeting with Julias father the next day for financial gain and while hes in the meeting Mallory sees a note with a Nevada address on it and sends it to Jason and finds out it belongs to Chris's parent's. Everyone decides its in the best interest to keep Chris's parent's safe so they take them and go to the nearest biggest motel with adjoining rooms to keep them safe. Meanwhile Chris's sister is kidnapped.
Mallory notices that there is only one king size bed in the their room for everyone. She decides its a great idea to have them share the bed. While laying in bed they all realize they all have an attraction to each other. Do they continue to fight it or give into it. Are they able to rescue Samantha and Chris? Is everyone safe?

Excellent reading
A reverse Harem Romance, that’s more than just a steamy excuse for a book of sex scenes.
This has a great storyline too.
A missing marine , a kidnapping, a hostage .
Really good and addictive reading

I DNF'd this book so I won't be leaving a star rating.

I have to applaud the other readers who were able to finish this book and then give it a high star rating. I made it 17% into the book and decided I couldn't do it anymore.

I've been on a kick recently where all I want in a book is a strong, tough, bad@$$ heroine, and I thought I found a book that would meet that standard. And, honestly, Mallory really did come across that way (at least in the beginning. I can't speak to that if her character changed later on). There wasn't much to differentiate the guys on the team, but Mallory's tone really did come off as one tough character and I was so down for that.

But what made me put the book down in frustration were the grammar mistakes, random words not edited out, and information repeated from one chapter to another (or even in back-to-back paragraphs!).

Added to that were the contradictions. In Mallory's chapter, she said she wouldn't be able to choose between Jason and Chris, so she didn't choose either. In Jason's chapter, which immediately followed hers, Jason said they went on a date and kissed, and said she dated Chris but felt smothered. What the actual heck is even going on?!

I skimmed through the rest of that chapter just to see if there would be something that would catch my attention enough to keep on with the book. Alas, I just didn't want to deal with the way this book was written. I don't know if this author is still new to writing books, but she desperately needs an editor to clean up the grammar and redundancy here. It is so aggravating to try to read past something you've already read because it was written three pages ago - or in the last paragraph! If an editor was involved to help guide the author I think this could turn out to be an excellent menage romance because there is a good foundation here. Right now, though, it's a hard no from me.

Read this as a filler book because I couldn't seem to find anything good to read. I really should have DNF the book though. But I appreciate a strong female lead who doesn't need a man to save her. That was the one saving point I guess.

So there were several reasons why this book didn't work for me.

1.) The contradictions. It was as if K.C. forgot what she previously wrote and so present scenes didn't match up. For example, Mallory was held captive by the criminals. She's introduced as having been tied up and gagged. 3 paragraphs later one of her captors comes in and gets up in her face. Suddenly, that gag magically disappears and she's spitting in his face. There was no mention of the gag being removed. It simply wasn't there... so that's a small contradiction.

Another one I can't seem to get over. So they all raid the crminal's location to find Mallory. Somehow after everyone's safe they hear cops. They're all confused because no cops were ever notified. Lo and behold it turns of one of the guys had time during the raid, where guns were involved, to pull out his cellphone and update Chris's sister about their location and situation! So she ended up calling the cops. I mean HOW?!? How the hell is this guy making a phone call in the middle of attacking criminals?!

My biggest issue is the story revolving around Chris disappearing after working for some cartel boss. (PLOT SPOILER) Julia, Chris's lover admits to stealing her own father's drugs and thus setting Chris up. So of course Chris is super shocked Julia had set him up. He demands to know why. Then fast forward a little bit later when they're all safe he explains why he had to disappear. His reason? “I'm so sorry I caused you all to worry about me. I was trying to protect you. Once I knew what I'd done, that Julia had stolen the drugs from her father, I knew it looked like I'd done it. I had to get out of there, and I thought by not telling anyone, I was protecting all of you." How does he not know he was set up when Julia admitted it to everyone, but then explain to everyone a little later that, that was the exact reason why he had to disappear?! HUGE contradiction and with the main storyline!!

2.) So the main characters are all supposed to be badass marines, with Mallory being a cop after they've all retired from the marines. They've all worked as soldiers for years down in Afghanistan and Iraq so they've been exposed to dangerous situations. But their actions in terms of going out to find their friend and dealing with dangerous situations absolutely contradicts that fact. In fact they can be a little stupid at times. Like how they walked into a hostage situation, where they know for a fact that weapons were involved, with absolutely no weapon at all! Their plan was to use their fist!

Oh and when they got suspicious, Mallory as a cop couldve used her resources to find out Intel about the person of interest, the place their missing friend was working at, etc but nope they walk in blind with no information whatsoever and almost gets killed... Also if someone offers to take you to see the hostage you DON'T just blindly follow him without letting anyone know where you're going! and then letting them blindfold you while they take you to the hostage?! Your first instinct is to think what the hell?! No! And run! Especially when you're not carrying any weapon whatsoever!

My favourite scene is when they finally rescue Chris's sister from being held hostage! So Mallory is holding a gun to the few remaining criminals. Then instead of EVERYONE backing out, Mallory demands all 3 of her friends to leave and bring the hostage to safety while she stays behind to hold them off! 3 people to escort a hostage that has already escaped?? I don't get why they arent all just backing up while she holds the gun on the criminals?! Of course when her friends leave her with a room of criminals she realizes she her gun is out of bullet... she sprints out the room into an secret tunnel her friends ran out of, while being chased. She sees her friends at the end of the tunnel, but she knows the criminals are at her heels. She screams at them to leave her behind and close the door to the tunnel. Knowing the consequence of what would happen if the door closed, none of her friends runs to help her beat off the bad guys so they could all make it out safe and sound. Nope. They close the door on her and she ends up being taken hostage...🤯🤯 The women they all supposedly claim to love is being chased by criminals and they chose to lock her in with them?! Why?! I am pretty sure with their Marine training they can fight the guys and help Mallory out!! Time and time again they all act as if they have no training whatsoever!

3.) Little scenes are overly exaggerated into playing a big role... or absolutely pointless scenes. The scene where they discovered something might be wrong with their friend had me rolling my eyes so hard it almost got stuck. Sp they're searching their friend's place for evidence that Chris might be endanger. Nothing. Then all of a sudden Jason is anxiously calling them into the room. Everyone's hearts drop to the pit of their stomach. You'd expect something like blood or a sign of struggle. Nope. What they see is Chris's phone in his room still plugged into the charger... it's cause for a panic because god forbid anyone forget their phone when they leave the house these days... that one "lead" is then reiterated several times through every character in different ways of why Chris HAS to be in danger...

My absolute favourite has to be when they finally shot Antonio (the dude in charge of the kidnapping)!! So he gets shot in the freakin chest and his reaction to it all is to look around and asks everyone "W-What happened?". Oh and someone pointlessly pitched in (abelit a little funny) shouts out "You got shot, asshole!" Like WTF?! What that scene really necessary to end the whole debacle? 🙄

4.) The sexist way her friends all treats her after they've slept with her. So they've all been in the Marines together. They're constantly telling us how they all think so highly of Mallory. How much of a badass she is. How she's the best among them and they trust her with their lives. However! The moment after they sleep with her all of a sudden she can't handle herself in a dangerous situation and she needs to be kept! They're about to head into a hostage situation and all they want to do is leave her behind because it's suddenly too dangerous for her! Now they're trying to tell her what she can and can't do!

For a menage romance involving 4 guys and one girl, this was rather tame in the sex department. No touching between the boys. No kink. No double penetration. No anal. Not sure any of the guys even got a BJ. Just missionary, cowgirl, and cunnilingus. Oh and sex in the shower with the guy holding the girl up.

They are a former marines team so brother-in-arms close, but nothing happened till 7 years after their service ended. And I guess it was a good thing they waited, because the girl, now a cop, suddenly turned into the princess they must protect after they had sex.

Or rather agreed to try something between all of them, because three guys in the bed the first time and two fell asleep with blue balls. Not to mention “I love yous” were exchanged girl-to-guy and guy-to-girl before initiating anything. No guy-to-guy declarations.

I don’t know. If I have two or more guys sharing my bed, I want a bit more between them. They can skip penetrative sex between them if that’s their preference, but touch a bit, kiss, hug, give your brother a hand or a mouth. Say I love you, dammit. ;)

As for the rest of the story, I found the sheer number of POV changes distracting. All five had their say. And I must say I’m spoiled with the military brotherhood vibe I get from Susan Stoker books.

***

Also, no talk of safe sex, condoms, or birth control.

I am a new reader to K.C. Crowne and I truly am beyond impressed with the quality displayed throughout Men on a Mission. This is a tastefully designed book with a riveting storyline as well as strong willed characters who as individuals just make their Family all the better. As Former Marines, they have returned stateside and stayed close. At one time each of these men; Jason, Seth, Liam and Chris have entertained feelings for Mallory. Mallory loves them all and chooses not to break up their friendship by choosing just one and while that is admirable, something changes her perspective when danger comes knocking and threatens all they hold dear; each other. Follow along on their dangerous journey to get Chris back, because you never leave a man behind. I was addicted to this book from cover to cover and found it beautiful throughout.

I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading this steamy goodness. I can assure you that I will be watching and impatiently waiting for K.C.'s next release.

Characters
Mallory

Mallory, Jason, Seth, Liam, and Chris all served together in the Marines. The men love her and she loves them but no one crosses the line. They don't want to mess up their family unit. Chris dates outside the group and falls for Julia, not knowing she is a Cartel princess. When she breaks his heart, he goes off grid. His vehicle and phone left behind, condo door left open. Mallory, Jason, Seth, and Liam are working to find him. Seth and Mallory are shot at, Jason and Liam need to protect Chris's family. But then, Chris's sister is taken. Now everyone has to go into hiding, and they still need to find Chris and rescue the sister.
Plus, sharing 1 woman with 4 men might be too complicated...

Multiple typos and strange italics in places not needed aside, the book was a good one. Plot was fast enough paced without getting too bogged down in detail. I really enjoy K.C.'s books, they just need better editing or proofreading.

I received this book will the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Mallory, Chris, Seth, Liam, and Jason. These 5 were a well oiled team of Marines that had fought together in combat. Now they are retired and are working other jobs but had always stayed close. When they find that one of their own goes missing they make it their next mission to find him. The problem they have though is Mallory has had feelings for all of the men but never acted on it for fear that it will harm their friendships somehow. Now however they wonder is that the one thing they will need to open up about to find not only their friend but start something they all have been craving?

This is an amazing book. It does have its ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the book for any other readers. I will say this book will grab hold of you from the first page and not let to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Good Read, But Differently Has A Few Problems

Men On A Mission by K.C Crowne
✨Book Review✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

First off I want to say I hate giving three star ratings. But I know sometimes you can’t avoid it and this book happened to be one of those instances.

I loved the storyline, I really think that it has potential! I also loved the protectiveness of the guys. And how close they all are not wanting to mess up their relationship.

However I did not like how repetitive it was. Like it would say she was a cop now or something along those lines. And then a couple paragraphs later or in the next chapter mention that she was an ex marine and was now a cop. Like you didn’t already know that! It bothered me so much!

Other then that the story was good. Especially if your looking for a short spicy RH.

Probably won’t be reading again. (Unless by chance the story get rewritten and the repetitiveness is fixed)

But just because I gave it a three star review please don’t let that sway your decision to not read it. It really is a good book with a few errors.

Men on a Mission (Forbidden Reverse Harems)

I love polyamory books and no one does it better than KC Crowne. I love their books because they do have a plot line to go with them. I have never been disappointed with any of their books. The erotica is top notch. This book is a continuation of the Spenser Sisters. The oldest sister Mallory who was the Marine and is now a cop used to work with her team of Chris, Liam, Jason, and Seth. They all have other jobs now. The gist of it is that there are some seriously bad dudes after them looking for Chris who supposedly stole something. During all this her boys tell her of their undying love and they all agreed that was fine and massive erotica ensued in the midst of this craziness.
My favorite part of most of these stories is the epilogue. The part that tells what is happening now. What I love is that in most of these stories the female at the end becomes pregnant by her men. And they are all so happy to be Daddies!

Must Read!

This book wasn’t what I expected it to be. I really enjoyed the action/adventure/suspense storyline with the group of friends trying to find Chris who has “disappeared”. Using a different character POV for each chapter was helpful in a way to understand each individual, but I found that many of them were the same? I struggled to find something unique about each person to actually give them a DIFFERENT perspective- all of them founded the same to me. I did appreciate the emotional connection between the characters and the total respect for each other. The reverse harem portion evolved slowly, but was generally well done. The epilogue also was a very nice touch providing some version of a HEA. The only thing that annoyed me was the novel’s cover picture of Mallory- looking like a stripper in camo. Sorry, but that image stuck with me and did not coincide with the character description in the novel. Again, that is just my opinion. Overall, a fairly good read.

This was such a great read that kept my attention from beginning to end. Mallory, Jason, Chris, Seth and Liam have been friends since they started boot camp. The men have always loved Mallory and she them, but they keep their feelings sealed to protect their friendships. They have become a second family and care too much about each other to lose it. When one goes missing, it causes them to reevaluate everything. Mallory realizes she doesn't want to lose what they have and decides to cross the friendship line. Will they be able to find their missing friend and have what they have all wanted all along. This has suspense, action, and twists and turns. These guys have such a strong connection that is more than physical, and have always been there for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and they are a perfect for for beach other. Mallory is their missing piece and they want this to work out.

Mallory and her four team mates have stayed close since leaving the Marines then one goes missing.
Mallory, Jason, Chris, Seth and Liam are ex-marine team mates who since leaving the service have stayed close with regular meetings so when Chris fails to turn up for on they become concerned. They check out his place and find the door ajar and things which he would have been expected to take out with him still there. They check with the girlfriend he had recently broke up with and with his employer and the answers they get are more and more worrying. Then they check with his family and Chris's sister goes missing then his parent receive a message stating that if Chris fails to turn himself over the will hurt her. They realizes they need to fall back on the skills they learnt as marines. An ex-marine romance to relax and enjoy.

WoW! This story is AMAZINGLY AWESOME! Very unconventional in many ways, it is also very heart warming, sexy as hell, touching, captivating, and it clearly demonstrates that these powerful Marines are very capable of « unconditional love ❤️ ». Jason, Seth, Chris and Liam clearly love Mallory very deeply and are willing to put their lives at risk to save her when she gets kidnapped by a cartel drug lord. Once the boys realize that Mallory is as much in love with all four of them as they are with her, nothing can stop them from forming their everlasting family together.

I received an ARC COPY from this author, which is new to me but I can honestly say that I enjoy her writing and recommend you read this book 1. I can’t wait to read what becomes of this wonderful family and their new addition 😉.

I so really loved this book I couldn’t put it down, I loved Mallory’s character she is so strong and can kick her boys butts but can be soft as well, Jason, Seth, Chris, Liam all love Mallory but carn’t risk there friendship and being a family to be with her and Mallory carn’t pick between them so it makes it hard for the all. But when Chris goes missing everyone is so worried and trying to find him that Mallory realizes that life is to short to worry about stupid little things that people won’t understand about there bond and trust from being in the marines and because she loves them all and wants to be with all her boys and they feel the same and are willing to share. Do they find Chris safe and sound ? And can they all share the one woman they all love ? Read this amazing book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed an arc copy of this book for an honest review.

OH MY LUCKY STARS!!!
Wow! Crowne hits one out of the park. This is one read that captivates from the start and holds your attention until the last word. All the twists and turns along with a heaping of doubt, a cup of fear, a spoon .of intrigue, a dash of strategy, mix it all up for one strong plot with enough drama, heartache, nailbiting, tension riding high and you have the makings for one exciting adventure. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique with vast differences and qualities that balance out as well as they play off one another perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Crowne did an amazing job bringing this read to life. Great job Crowne, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Wow what a fantastic read with a great story line that keeps you guessing till the end. I couldn’t put it down!!
Mallory, Liam, Seth,Chris, Jason were a team within the marines. A very close group of friends that would always have each other’s backs. each of the men have feelings for Mallory but felt that if one of the men got with Mallory it would ruin there strong bond so decided to stay friends. What they didn’t know was the Mallory had feeling for each of the men and wanted them all.
When the group don’t hear from Chris, the group starts to worry.
This story is about what’s happened to Chris. It’s about the relationships between Mallory and her men.
I totally enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more from K.C. Crowne. You smashed it out of the park!

Mallory, Jason, Liam, Chris  and Seth have been friends for years. Meeting each other in the Corps, staying in same city after they left the military, the 5 friends are close and love each other. The physical attraction is as strong as the emotional bond but Mallory can not pick just one of her men... So going beyond friendship is off the table.

When Chris goes missing, the rest of the group works together to find him. And amongst the danger they find, they discover that sharing may be the key to becoming more than just friends.

Great story. I love the characters. Who wouldn't want four hot men?

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and voluntarily am leaving my honest review and recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 starsAll being friends but now are much closer!
ByMarilyn Smithon September 20, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
Mallory, Seth, Chris, Liam and Jason all meet in the Marines and became close friends. Now they are out of the military and are staying in the same city and still close friends. Then Chris disappears and that pulls the four together to go find him and see what is going on. Their unique bond was created and strengthened by the time they spent watching each other's backs. Mallory loves each of these men and cherishes their friendships, but returning home has changed the dynamic. Each has expressed interest in her, but she refuses to choose. This pushes her to make a decision to place each of them in a permanent friend zone. Now one of them is missing and they must band together to find him before time runs out. Tensions and emotions run high reminding them that life is short. He's the only one Mallory hasn't confessed her feelings to. Will they be able to find him in time or will the lies and betrayal that caused this mess take away their chance of a happily ever after?

This was not what I expected. It had your steamy scenes but a great powerful storyline. Without wanting to spoil it for you, it's a plot involving ex military who have worked so closely they have become tighter knit than any family bonds.
It's the ups and downs of working and living as a unit after service life .
It's has descriptive passion and varying POV, in needs a bit of concentration but it's well worth the effort, it's only short and can feel a little rushed in places, could easily be 50 pages longer but as part of a series or as a stand alone it works.
If you enjoy books with more of a story than just loads of kink this is for you. I highly recommend, I couldn't put it down. 4 1/2 stars really.

Jason, Liam, Chris and Seth are as close as you get to family without being related. They all love Mallory, who served with them as Marines in the military. They would never leave anyone behind and that is put to the test in this journey. KC Crowne was able to capture my attention from the beginning all the way to the end. I am just really glad it has a happily ever after, because I do not think after getting to know these characters that I could handle it ending any other way. This book has suspenseful elements as well as some really steamy hot ones. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

A friendship born in combat. That describes Mallory, Jason, Chris, Liam and Seth. These five trust each other, have each other's back and love each other. That love is something that none have acted on for fear of destroying their family. When one member goes missing, the others will do whatever is necessary to find them. Realizing that life is too short, they decide that maybe there is a way to have their family and not destroy friendships. I really liked this story. It was great to see Mallory viewed as an equal by her guys. I'm looking forward to reading more about her sisters.

Mallory and her 4 Marine buddies have a close bond that is hard to shake. Even after getting out of the service, their bond is unbreakable. Each of them have feelings for Mallory but she's afraid to choose and hurt the other ones. It's not until one of them goes missing and they have to band together to find him before it's too late. Mallory is having a hard time deciding to keep her feelings to herself or act on them.

This book is action packed all the way thru with a lot of "hot action" scenes as well. It's a good quick read. I received this book as an ARC book and am giving my honest opinion.

Mallory and her four best friends served together in the Marines. They've remained a tight family, and though all of the guys have feelings for her, they refuse to anything that would jeopardize their relationships. When one of the guys gets in trouble, emotions run high and barriers are broken as the team races to save one of their own.

This book is full of continuity, formatting, and punctuation errors which can be distracting, but the bones of the story are great. I like how the relationships between the guys and Mallory are built throughout the story. The author could use an editor to tighten things up, but the story is worth a read!

Mallory, Jason, Chris, Liam and Seth all were in the Marines together. They were a tight knit group as any would be when your life is dependent on the others having your back. Once they all got out of the Corps they remained very good friends. Each of the guys found Mallory as their ideal woman and she liked them all. Not wanting to break up their tight friendship they chose not to date. Chris gets into trouble and all their instincts kick in. Talk about some action, suspense and a little bit of romance. When life and death is on the line what will they choose? Themselves or their friend’s life? I enjoyed their relationship and thought they were all great characters!!
