Note to Authors: Just because a woman enjoys sex doesn’t makes her a slut! Stop calling your heroines sluts cause they like having sex! i rather have a “slut” for a heroine than a stupid shy little virgin. This is just tiring! I enjoy sex so that makes a slut. Thank you very much!
Awesome kid and cute dogs! Heroine has been celibate for some time, she likes sex but can’t remember the last time she has had any. Hero is the usual hero. His wife died, he loved her. Celibate for 2 months. That’s a long time for romancelandia. 🙄 Anyway this was a fluffy short read. No OW/OM. Kudos to author for not bashing the dead wife.
**3 stars** for the heroine because she adopted the senior dog she ran over with her car by accident.
What a fun and sweet novella! You really can't help but fall in love with Nash, Farrah, and Max. The back and forth banter between Nash and Farrah was both sexy and hilarious and I especially enjoyed Nash's inner monologue. I felt the author really captured the male point of view perfectly. There was chemistry galore between our hero and heroine, but what really shined for me was the relationship between Farrah and Max. Their friendship started off so emotionally, but as the story progressed, their interactions only became more adorable and touching. A romantic relationship is tricky enough on it's own, but throw a child into the mix and there are a whole slew of other things to consider. I liked that all the relationships felt natural and real in this novella. Yes, there is an instant attraction between Nash and Farrah, but I enjoyed the slow burn as our characters got to know each other. The epilogue was romantic perfection and I really enjoyed Nash, Farrah, and Max's story.
Destiny Laughs is part of Marina Adair's St Helena Vineyard kindle world and is book one in The Santini Series. It can be read as a standalone.
*I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
The Santini Series is a fun, sweet, and sexy set of stories about brothers that will have you laughing and swooning with each story you read.
Destiny Laughs is about Nash, a widowed Vetenerarian, who is smacked in the face with love for the first time since his wife died. But Nash is also a father and he needs to protect his son from heartbreak, just as he does himself.
Farrah is ready to move on with her life. Now that both of her parents have passed, she is ready to start living her life. The last thing she ever thought was that she would find a reason to stay... completely on accident. Being so distraught over hitting a dog on Main Street, walking into the Vet Clinic was the absolute last place she thought she would ever find... Love?
There is an instant connection between Nash and Farrah. But as their attraction grows, so does the looming deadline of Farrah's move to Seattle.
Throw in an adorable young boy who charms Farrah from the moment she lays eyes on him, and her whole world is shaken again.
LOVED Nash and Farrah. This whole series is a great, quick read that will put a smile on your face.
As far as novellas go, I'm not a big fan. If it's intended to catch us up on characters from a previous book, I enjoy them, but to introduce us to new characters? Nah, I'd much prefer a full novel. Destiny Laughs, though? It far surpasses my expectations!
It takes us on a journey of Nash and Farrah, as well as Nash's 9 year old son, Max, and their coupling, which happens to coincide with Farrah moving away to Seattle. Experiencing their brief- yet intense- relationship was exhilarating. Despite the quickness that things progressed, I didn't feel gypped; I felt completely satisfied. I even cried!
As a part of the St. Helena Vineyard Kindle World, you do not need to have read anything previously. But I have to say, I so wish that Santini's Deli was real- the description was so real that I really felt like I was in an Italian Market (and as an Italian, my mouth was watering and I will have to visit my Italian market tomorrow)!
This is a perfectly sweet, lovely and sexy story. I really liked both Farrah and Nash and Max was adorable. This is my first book that I have read by Leslie Pike and I am excited to read book 2! This story is completely safe!
I 'll have to say I was thinking I had to read the original series to dive into to the "kindle world". I was pleased to read this story and love it! In fact, I wish it were a full novel.
Leslie does a stellar job of pulling you in with this story about Nash, The town Vet along with his son Max and then they meet Farrah. See where Destiny takes them.
Format: Audiobook Narrators: Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels
Tropes: Single Dad Insta-Love Lonely FMC Small Town Romance
A hot, single dad who loves animals? Say more - please! Destiny Laughs by Leslie Pike was the perfect listen for my weekend getaway. I finished it in one sitting and had smile on my face almost the entire time. This novella was cute, adorable and just what I needed in the moment. Let's not forget about the spice.
I didn't realize the single-dad trope was so hot, but Dr. Nash Santini really opened my eyes on that one. Did I mentioned he was a veterinarian who loves animals (inserting swoon)? Nash and Farrah's story was emotional but entertaining. From the start, the story begins very emotional and I just knew I was going to cry. But very quickly we are pushed into sweet and spicy before wrapping with a HEA. And I'm not ashamed to admit, I teared up at the ending. Not because of Nash and Farrah, but the dog, OG.
Lucy Rivers once again showed her astounding talent by giving us all the emotional energy she brings to her performances. I have listened to several of her narrations and she never ceases to amaze me. Lee Samuels is a new narrator to me, but he was incredible as Dr. Nash Santini. I look forward to hearing more of his performances in the future.
Destiny Laughs is book one in the series and I can't wait to dive into the rest of The Santini Series.
Do I recommend? Yes!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm a sap- I'm just going to put that out there right now. (Contrary to what some people might think after one of my other reviews this week!) This novella is so sweet, I was crying at the end. Destiny Laughs is a definite case of insta-lust/love, but so well done, so believable, so engaging, I was completely on board! Nash and Farrah belonged together. They deserved each other. They were meant to be.
Nash is a sweet, sexy, swoony single dad who really hasn't been looking for anything permanent with a woman- content with his flings, unwilling to get deeper involved because of his son. That is, until Farrah comes along and makes him want something more. Farrah's life has been on hold the past 7 years as she cared for her parents, but now she's ready to move on and her plans definitely don't include staying in St. Helena and falling for the hot single dad. But like the title says, sometimes destiny laughs...right in your face!
Fun, emotional, and full of heart, Destiny Laughs is a quick read that left me with a smile on my face, even as the tears were streaming down!
I haven't read anything by this author before. But this was a nice, short, sweet read.
Farrah has finally started living her life. She hasn't had much of a life, since her parents got sick and she was looking after them. Now they have passed and she is finally ready to live her life. Getting a new job and selling her house and moving. But then she knocked over a dog and took him to a vet clinic and then she met Dr Nash Santini.
Nash's wife passed away since his son was little. And its just been him and Max for a long time. Now he's moved back to his hometown so that his son will have his family around him for some stability. But the moment he met Farrah he knew that she was the one for him. But will he able to give Farrah the adventure that she is craving or will she leave him behind to find what she is looking for.
I really enjoyed this book. The hero and heroine was sweet and the chemistry between them was hot. Max was a sweet little boy who was funny and sweet.
This is book 1 in the Santini series - they call can be read as standalones though! It was a cute and heartwarming novella! The instant connection between Nash and Farrah is evident from when they first meet and love how their friendship began and how their relationship grew. I also love how precious Max was, which only added more to the story! He's pretty wise for a young kid and so sweet!
Destiny Laughs is narrated in dual by Lee Samuels & Lucy Rivers and was such a cute novella to listen to! They both did a fabulous job at making this easy to listen to and enjoy!
Thank you to Leslie Pike and Blue Nose Audio for letting me listen to an ALC of this book!
This was a fast enjoyable read that can be read in one sitting. The characters were engaging. I thought it was a sweet story. I loved Nash and his little boy Max. I will be honest Nash's occupation convinced me to read this one. Plus I fell in love with the cover. I loved Nash's big Italian family. Farrah captured my heart because being the only family she has just broke me heart, but one event changes her life course. I couldn't have picked anyone better than Nash and Max. I would definitely recommend this one f you're looking for a sweet nice feel good story.
A lovely short audiobook. Farrow meets Nash at the vet clinic when she takes a stray injured dog to the clinic.
There she meets Max is son and is smitten immediately when she lays eyes on Nash.
Nash is just as smitten he asks her out for dinner for that night.
Enjoyed the Narrators. Lee Samuel is new to me and I look forward to hearing more from this voice Artist. I have heard a few books from Lucy and enjoy her work.
I received this as an ALC and it was such a cute quick listen.
FMC accidentally hits a pup and the vet happens to have the sweetest son ever and they start with a conversation when super hot vet MMC comes in and my girl is flabbergasted.
Fast love. Small town. Instant love. Veterinarian. Single dad. Widower.
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Santini series Book 1 Narrated by Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels
Single Dad Small Town Veterinarian
Dr. Nash Santini and Farrah Knights When Farrah’s parents pass away, her everyday norm of taking care of them has vanished, and she has to find herself again, all while putting their house on the market and trying to move forward. When she meets a local veterinarian, a lot of things begin to change again for her.
I loved these two and the bond they formed, not only together but with Nash’s son. You could feel the genuine attraction through Lee and Lucy’s voices, and let me tell you, this man fell hard.
The setting in each book made this experience even sweeter, and the localness I felt from a town in close proximity to where I live warmed my heart. Each book is a standalone, but the family aspect in Leslie’s stories is something I love most. With each novella averaging around 2 hours, I recommend bingeing the entire series. They are feel-good, sweet, sexy, and from the heart.
First of all, this novella was too short. I wanted more. I fell in love with the characters and wanted more of their story!
Farrah is alone, her parents are dead and she doesn’t feel like anything is left for her in St. Helena. When she decides to put her house for sale and move, she meets Dr. Nash, a vet, in unfortunate circumstances. But they develop a friendship that seems to be moving into more and their wonderful story begins. Add a very smart 9 year old with a playful dog, and you have yourself a sweet story that will melt your heart.
Although this was a novella, the relationship developed nicely. It didn’t seem unrealistic at all. Farrah and Nash just had to happen. They were perfect for each other although Nash always made sure that his son, Max, always was his priority. He didn’t want to have a revolving door of relationships and so he never brought them around his son, but with Farrah, all bets were off and he knew he had to have her in their lives.
The secondary characters also added some spice to the story and some left me so intrigued that I can’t wait to see if they get their own book.
The novella newly released in audio and narrated in dual POV by Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels is another way to enjoy this story. Lucy and Lee perfectly give sweet and sexy, bringing both Farrah and Nash to life and letting the listener feel the vulnerability in Farrah and the way Nash expresses his protective instincts. It is impossible not to enjoy this story and fall in love with these characters all over again.
Nash is the ultimate man. He's a vet, has a son who he adores, knows his way around a woman and very easy on the eyes. But he's not in any hurry in finding a woman or bringing one around his son. That all changes as soon as he lays eyes on Farrah crying in his waiting room and something twitches. He can't stop himself. Farrah has not had a life of her own for the last 6 years with caring for ailing parents. So she's in a hurry out of St. Helena and to start her new life. But just can she leave with this amazing man wanting her to stay?
Farrah has put her life on hold and now her house for sale she's moving out of St.Helena . She finds herself sitting in a veterinarians office being comforted by the cutest child Max. Enter tall dark and handsome ! Dr. Nash Santorini the new addition to the town ...wipe the drool. He' a widow and his priority is his son Max. Can't say much more spoilers and all that so you'll have to read it. Everything about this Novella had me wishing it was an entire book. Must read.
Absolutely LOVED this novella!!! While I didn't read the original series it's a spinoff of, you don't really need to. I loved all of the characters! I hope to see more in from them in the future!!! Great job Leslie!!!
Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 Sweet & Heartwarming!
Destiny Laughs Santini Series, Book 1 By: Leslie Pike Narrated by: Lucy Rivers, Lee Samuels
This wonderful story is a great start to the “Santini” series, and I loved everything about, well not everything, since I did not want it to end, because I could not get enough of these characters. After taking care of her parents for the past six years, it is time for Farrah Knight to live her own life and she has it all planned out. Bringing an injured dog to the town veterinarian, she meets the cutest of kids, Max, who is wise beyond his nine years, and comforts Farrah as she waits for the news about the dog. Turns out Max is Dr. Nash Santini’s son and when Nash comes to give Farrah the news about the injured dog, there is an instant connection between them. Nash is not looking for any involvements or romantic relationships, but when he finds out she is leaving town, he figured a fling could not hurt either, except it turns into something so much more. This sweet and spicy romance captivates your attention, tugs at your heartstrings and warms your heart, a perfect book to enjoy in one sitting. Leslie Pike, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels were fantastic voicing these characters, and I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagine the characters to sound. Both grasped every aspect of their characters’s personality and demeanor perfectly. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complement each other and an enthralling performance that keeps you glued to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Destiny Laughs Santini Book 1 By Leslie Pike Narrated by Lee Samuels, Lucy Rivers
You never know where love will find you. Farrah is at the vet inquiring about a dog. She is really upset, and is comforted by Max. a boy that is sitting in the waiting room. Soon he finds out that the dog isn't hers, but is the one who accidentally hit the pup. Max praises his father, Nash the vet just as he is coming out and now the story really begins. Instant chemistry, fun and lively banter, falling in love and finding a new path for life are all packed into this novella. It flies by with all the feels. Leslie Pike is a master at creating fabulous characters, and now she has me totally invested in the Santini family. Especially after Max's enlightening description of each, I know I am in for a treat as each book comes out. Loved this quickie.
Lee Samuels and Lucy Rivers narrate this gem to life. Samuels brings all the charm that Nash has. His ability to tune into Nash's feelings is spot on, as he opens his heart and does his best to win her over. Rivers plays the conflict that Farrah is feeling convincingly and she pulls out the feels as she finds her true feelings. Loved this one and can't wait for more.
A cute and quick read with this novella. It wouldn't have taken much to make this into a full length novel. There were times, I felt that the storyline was being rushed. But that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying it.
Dr. Nash Santini is the new vet in town. He returned to his hometown to be closer to his family and to raise his son Max--by himself. Nash hasn't been using or looking for anyone special in his life nor was he looking for a new house. He was quite satisfied living at his childhood home.
Farrah Knight has spent the last six years caring for her ailing parents. She is going to spent time on herself and have an adventure. Selling her parents' home and moving to Seattle for a new job is the next step for her.
Until...Farrah hit a stray dog. Max sat beside Farrah while Nash was treating the dog. The three bonded over the animal. Nash felt an instant attraction...Farrah wasn't far behind. The only problem is that Farrah's house is on the market. After only a few dates, the house sells and her Seattle roommate asks her to come early.
Will Farrah follow her heart to love ...or to adventure?
Can a meet-cute be both sweet and heart-wrenching? Leslie Pike proves it can. After an unexpected run-in with a stray dog, Farrah finds herself at the local vet clinic, and that’s where fate introduces her to Nash — a widowed, single-dad veterinarian. Farrah, still reeling from the recent loss of both her parents, is caught in that in-between of grief and starting over. She has a job lined up, a plan in place, but then Nash walks in with his quiet strength and easy charm… and everything changes. Narrated in dual POV by Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels, this audiobook strikes the perfect balance between sweet and sexy. Lucy brings Farrah to life with just the right amount of vulnerability, portraying a woman trying to stay strong while feeling lost. Lee gives Nash that protective, swoon-worthy edge that makes him impossible not to fall for. He’s gentle, grounded, and not afraid to fall fast and hard. Leslie Pike is a master of packing big heart into short listens, and Desting Laughs is no exception. It’s tender, character-driven, and laced with just the right amount of spice and angst to keep your heart full of all the feels!
Destiny Laughs is the first audiobook in Leslie Pike’s Santini series, and this novella-length listen is a sweet, cute, and heartwarming love story. And for a short listen, it definitely manages to grab you by the feels and not let go. While Nash and Farrah’s love story can certainly be termed insta-love, it also has a tremendous amount of emotional depth and a very satisfying HEA. And Nash’s young son, Max, just steals the whole darn show, in my opinion.
The narration for this story is performed by Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels, who both blew me out of the water! You pretty much cannot go wrong with either of these performers. Lucy Rivers beautifully brings the character of Farrah to life with all her insecurities, all her grief, all her goodness, and all her strength. And Lee Samuels absolutely shines in his portrayal of Nash. His performance of this loving and loyal character is larger than life, and just made me fall in love with Nash all the more. Thanks to Leslie Pike’s words and the voice acting talents of Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this short and sweet, romantic gem of a story!
I absolutely love this beautiful collection from start to finish. Leslie, you impress the heck out of me yet again, but I’m not surprised because there’s something about your books that always put the biggest grin on my face. The Santini Brothers have all different quirks that I absolutely loved.
I just want to sing my praises of Lucy Rivers and Lee Samuels for performing all the beautiful characters. Both of you truly put me in my feels, made me laugh hysterically at times, made me swoon, at times broke my heart and so many other feelings. This beautiful little series will be one of my comfort reads from now on because it’s an uplifting, beautiful and encouraging family who wants the best for each other.
If you absolutely love, love love a story about family who wants the best for you, then this beautiful little series is meant for you. I cannot wait to read and listen to more of your beautiful books, Leslie. Everything I’ve read and listened to of your book since last year has been phenomenal and I have no doubt anything else I read or listen to will catch you my heart.
Destiny Laughs by Leslie Pike is such a heartwarming, realistic romance that completely pulled me in from the first chapter. It’s the kind of story that feels like a warm hug, charming, emotional, and full of heart. I devoured it in one sitting!
We have Nash, a single dad and devoted veterinarian, and Farrah, who’s learning to live for herself again after years of caring for her ill parents. Their connection is instant, but it’s also layered with real emotion and healing, making their love story all the more beautiful. And yes, there’s a touch of spice sprinkled throughout, just enough to turn up the heat.
The audiobook narration was fantastic. Lucy Rivers is a favorite of mine, she never misses, and this was no exception. This was my first time hearing Lee Samuels, and I was impressed. He captured Nash’s essence so well, strong, steady, and tender when it counts.
If you love fast-listen romances with depth, connection, a little heat, and a lot of heart, definitely give this one a try—especially in audio!
I absolutely loved this novella!! Yes, I do wish it was longer, because it was so darn good!! Loved Farrah and Nash and their insta-chemistry was off the charts!! Farrah feels so bad, and guilty when she hits a dog by accident with her car. She stays at the vet to find out if the dog is going to be ok, and she meets the vet, who just so happens to be the very handsome Nash!! She also meets Max, Nash's son. The timing of their meeting may not be the greatest as Farrah is planning to move away from St. Helena...now that her parents are gone, she's getting ready to put their house up for sale and move away for a job. I couldn't put this book down, wanting to know what happens!! Leslie Pike is a new to me author, and this was the first book I have read of hers, but certainly won't be my last!!
