After defeating an evil demon-worshipping witch, I've managed to convince the Council that I'm on their side...for now. I'm happy to go back to business as usual. Unfortunately, the universe has other plans.
When I'm hired to find out why a guy who went missing came back different, I soon discover the evil witch has cohorts who are carrying on his mission without him. And to stop them, I'm forced to keep working with the very handsome but Council-loyal demon hunter Conor Ramsey.
The more power this demon cult attains, the more dangerous they become, and the more I have to use my own demon powers to stop them, which is getting riskier by the second.
Conor is getting suspicious but I'll do whatever I have to do to get us out of this alive.
Demon Shadow is Book 2 of The Brimstone Magic Series, an action-packed urban fantasy series with elements of romance and humor.
Tori Centanni is a nerd girl and a recovering goth. She likes dark, quirky stories with elements of humor. When not reading or writing, she can be found baking, watching too much television, and wrangling cats. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
The adventure of Dani Warren -- a private investigator with demon magic, which deems illegal -- continues in this book.
Dani and Conor, the demon hunter, uncover more sinister plan to overthrown the Council from the Order of Black members. Dani also finds out the name of the demon that possessed her body all those years ago, and that she might be able to .
Looking forward to book #3 -- as well as the confrontation that will happen if rigid-by-the-book Conor finds out what Dani can do with her demon magic.
In this one the heroine must battle more demons, and maybe a demon from her past as well. She also must keep Conor from finding out what kind of magic she has, even if that is getting harder to do.
This book was another good one in the series, and it didn't really end on a cliffhanger, but it did leave you wanting more!
About a 4.5 star rating. This was a good installment to the first book. The author started the book off where the first ended. That was nice as some authors tend to start new and readers have to try and figure what happened as weeks or months went missing between one book and the next. If you're looking for action, you'll find it here but not romance. If there is going to be any, it's "very" slow moving. The author teases you with a possible romance between Dani and Conor with nothing happening. Me personally I've always enjoyed a bit of romance mixed in with action and suspense but can and do enjoy books that doesn't have one as well. We'll see what the author drums up next. These are shorter books. Can be viewed as novellas instead of novels.
Dani is still dealing with the Order of the Black, who seem bound and determined to summon demons, and get rid of the watchers. Worst of all, it seems the demon that once possessed her is back in town, and wanting her body back. She has to trust Conor to help her with the case, but he’s a watcher, and totally opposed to everything demon- such as Dani’s magic…
The second book in the series picks up about 2 seconds after book one ends. It’s a continuation of the story that began in that book, so it should definitely be read after book one. It’s a fast paced tale, with fascinating characters and some intriguing magical events. Dani even learns some new things about herself!
An enjoyable read, this is for those who love a little mystery in their urban fantasy stories.
Not sure how I feel about Conor on this book. I understand on the first book that he’s a die hard Watcher, but after everything that’s happening in front of his face and he’s still acting like it all of it sits well with him. Also, not sure I like how he seemed to be the damsel in distress and needed saving more on this second book.
While I really enjoyed the first book, this second installment kind of left me unsatisfied. I don’t know how to take the ending as is. How is that they STILL don’t suspect her of doing demon magic?! I was hoping for some movement on that aspect of the story. Guess I’ll have to wait for the next book.
I wasn't sure about this series after reading the first book. MC has magic considered "bad" even though she's good. It was similar to a lot of other UF books, but this second book was really interesting. I'm so glad I had a chance to read it.
More character development and questions about her magic. I'm looking forward to the next book in a couple of months.
Enjoyable series but the books are a little shorter than I like
This is an enjoyable book and series, but it’s more like a serial novel while each book does conclude the current story. It always ends with a small cliffhanger of something happening.
Overall I do enjoy the story, I just wish each book was at least 50 pages longer.
I downloaded book one just to see if I'd like it, read it in a day then straight away downloaded book two. Really great story line and I found it quite humorous in places. I could really identify with the main character, as she stumbles into situations not of her making. I would recommend this series
Oh I think this book was better than the 1st one!!! It kept me pretty hooked and I had trouble putting it down. It had some pretty intense action and I was dying to know the outcome and how it played out.. Luckily the next book is also kindle unlimited so off I go to read!!!!!
Well written and action packed. This is a good second book to the series. Fighting demon blood drinking witch's again it's all go while trying to prevent Connor the hot watcher from finding out about her demon magic. Great easy read.
This is a really good book, !see repetitive information. I liked the way the author has brought the story to a point to go in a finish. Maybe?? Definitely reading the next in the series.
