During the Second World War Poland was invaded by two nations and torn apart...now as the Third World War spirals out of control Poland once again faces destruction... In Czechoslovakia General Norman Schwarzkopf readies the Army of the Danube for the liberation of Poland. Around Wroclaw British and Canadian armored forces battle the Soviets. In southern Poland The US Army VII Corps battles two Soviet armies. Throughout West Germany, stay-behind units punish collaborators. In the air, RAF Tornado pilots fly deadly low-level missions against Soviet armored formations. On their war-time Baltic Island base, the SAS plans a daring raid on Warsaw. At the Presidential Palace, Polish President Wojciech Jaruzelski questions his loyalties.
I must highly recommend this World War 3 alternative military history series. This author has created a scenario unlike so many authors that have written similarly themed novels. Here the series was comprehensive and covered the many potential theaters of the war. The author could not have created a more realistic war between the Warsaw Pact and NATO. He used real world politicians and military leaders in his book, and it was fascinating to watch how they dealt with this World War. It was most enjoyable for me to see commanders I served under react to World War 3, something we had been preparing for before the Berlin Wall came down. My former division commander was key participant in the story and the author had him portrayed very well. The author did a magnificent job of tackling the tactics of both sides of the war. As a combat veteran I thoroughly enjoyed the accuracy of how such a war might've played out. Additionally the book included the weaponry in use and how those items would have performed. One can also see the meticulous research by the author with order of battle of the forces involved. This is a great book. Read it and the series.
1. Lost all interest entail the pole insurrection.
2.Shorter then previous novels in series.
3. There is a Hugh overly lack of references to previous novel has there is no dislog from chacthers to show how they impact there views and moral of the troops.
Overall a good follow up to the first two volumes, though too short for a full length price. Battle sequences werw well done though the book desperately needs several maps.
The author was able to keep the many army's unit's and characters separated so it was not confusing. He wove a coherent tale that made sense and didn't do much overlapping of the segments.
Another good addition to this series. The action moves further east and if you are familiar with the first Gulf War, you will see many familiar faces. As before, this series is highly recommended.
The author holds yo7 8n a vise like grip and doesn’t let go. The characters are real the events are like a page out of a history book of modern warfare.
3/5. The West Germans push into East Germany, while the Americans and the British invade Poland. The action in this series remains confusing—this book desperately needed to be accompanied by tactical maps so the reader could visualize the fighting spatially in context.
